A list of puns related to "Barksdale Organization"
Can someone explain how the hierarchy of the Organization works? Is the crew chief the same as a capo?
I've been re-watching The Wire on Youtube, and I keep comparing our roster with Avon and his crew. I love the camaraderie and the grit the Barksdale Org. shows, and our team resembles their toughness.
Here are some of my comparisons:
<<<Barksdale Crew>>>
UD = Avon (OG, respected by the whole game, soldier mentality)
Jimmy = Weebay (the main muscle, does whatever it takes for the crew, likable but cold-blooded)
Bam/Dedmon = Slim Charles (tall, respected and liked by all crews, takes care of business)
PJ Tucker = Stinkum (soldier who does the dirty work)
Markieff = Bird (soldier with no code of ethics)
Tyler Herro = Bodie (young'un who's cocky but promising)
Dunc = Poot (in the game, loyal, but kinda soft)
KZ Okpala & Gabe Vincent = Sapper & Gerard (the idiot duo)
<<<Associates>>>
Kyle Lowry/Andy Ellisburg = Prop Joe (all men of ample proportions)
Pat Riley & Spoelstra = The Greek & Spiros
Max Strus = Sergei (Winter Soldier)
***<<<***BONUS: Ex-Heat Players>>>
Justise Winslow = D'angelo Barksdale (capped early, groomed to succeed but didn't have what it takes)
Josh Richardson = Wallace (capped early, didn't make it in the "game")
After Marlo Stanfield, gang leader and rival drug kingpin to Avon Barksdale, met with Avon's lieutenant Stringer Bell he stated "Barksdale weak today." Marlo then ordered his second-in-command Chris to get their people ready for a gang war.
However, at this point in the show the Barksdale organization is anything but weak. In the scene in which Avon Barksdale -- the leader of the organization -- is arrested he is seen in a safehouse with 20+ armed gang members loading assault rifles and even grenades. Contrast that with Marlo's crew which really only has Chris and Snoop as the main muscle in season 3. If Avon hadn't gotten arrested it seems very plausible that the Barksdale crew would have won the upcoming gang war.
So why did Marlo think Barksdale was weak? He thought they were weak because Stringer was the one who went to the sitdown, not Avon.
A large part of Stringer's character in the Wire revolves around him not quite fitting in with the rest of the gangsters in the series. He dresses more 'properly', often wearing a suit and tie while his peers usually wear more traditional gangbanger attire. Avon Barksdale himself tells Stringer in one of their final arguments that he was not "Hard enough for the streets. Maybe you never were." Clearly, people that grew up in the drug game in Baltimore can sense if someone is not fully invested in the lifestyle they have chosen. I believe Marlo sniffed out that same sense of apprehension to violence from Stringer and mistakenly attributed that weakness to the entire Barksdale organization. Due to that, he prematurely began to attack their position despite no real evidence to prove he would win the fight.
If ya can't tell I've been rewatching the Wire
Avon Barksdale wants to expand his drug business in New York; but there's a problem, by doing this expansion, he will be in the crosshairs of the Corleones, the Corleones opposed the drug business, thinking illegal drugs will the harbinger of their downfall, seeing Barksdale may attract unwanted attention from the feds, the Corleones has decided to take them his organization head on, trying to prevent illegal drugs from entering in their home turf.
Will the Corleones able to repel Barksdalw or will they get folded?
Rules:
Both organizations will be at the peak of their power, however you define it. All sides have access to all resources, investors, allies, and connections portrayed in each others' canon.
The Corleones will headed by Michael Corleone & Vito Corleone
The Barksdale Organization will be headed by Avon Barksdale
Battle takes place in a hypothetical world where is as portrayed in each of their canons (Films, Novels, TV Shows etc)
Both the Corleones & the Barksdale org will have limited knowledge of each other- name, reputation, structure of their respective organization.
They all have an equal tech level
Personally, I think the majority of the Barksdale's problems come from Stringer.
Word on the street is new big players from Baltimore have decided to move their business to LA, and they have set up shop in Farmington. Tired of the constant power struggle between their members and the harassment from the strike team, the One-Niners are looking for a new leader, a situation that Avon Barksdale and Stringer Bell are looking to take advantage of.
After their first meeting , Vic Mackey realizes Avon is not just another gang banger, and he bows to take him down before the situation gets out of control.
The strike team is the one from season 1, and Aceveda is still their captain. Aceveda got a call from Baltimoreβs Major Crimes Unit Lt. Cedric Daniels, and was advised to no pull punches when it come to Avon.
Avon brought with him Stringer Bell, Wee bay, Shamrock, Slim Charles and his recently paroled nephew DβAngelo. He also has connections all over LA. Bell is opening new legit businesses so they can launder their drug money. The businesses are bringing new jobs to Farmington, which make Avon and Bell very popular within the community. Avon also opens a rec center where the βyounginsβ can play sports after school (which they use as a ninersβ recruit center). With elections coming up soon, and the community leaders protecting Avon and Bell (for them, they are just two young entrepreneurs who are trying to do good in Farmington, but are being harassed by the police because of the color of their skin), Aceveda finds out his political rival (and the favorite on the polls to become the new city council) is friends with Avon and Bell, and is planning to close βThe Barnβ as soon he takes over office, so now Aceveda and the Strike team are against the clock to bring down Barksdale and their associates before the get disbanded.
The actors ages are between like 1968 and 1976.
Considering these guys probably started slinging in the mid to late 80s, I'd assume Avon and String were born around 1970, with Webey, Slim and Cuddy born around 1973/1974; Weebey actor born 76 and Cuddy actor 74 for instance.
This would put String and Avon at about 24 if the Organization was set up around 94, and the others as Lieutenants age 19/20.
That said, they all look similar in age. Then things like the Slim actor is three years older than the Cuddy actor, who I assumed was late thirties - he was only 29 when he first appeared!
Weybey also has a 14 year old kid; being born in 1992. If Weybey was born around 74, he'd have had his kid at 18.
Was he at Avonβs court hearing because he looked up to Avon or was he rubbing it in his face?
There was a deal gone wrong and both sides suffer casualties so both sides reputation are on the line
Sopranos family have tony,Christopher, paulie, sil and Bobby as bossess
Barksdale has avon, stringer and slim as bossess
R1: in new jersey and the sopranos get help from johns family
R2:in Baltimore and the barksdales get help from marlo gang and Omar
R3:it will take place where non of them are familiar with for example say Mexico so limited man-power
It may be just me, but when watching The Wire again I can't help but notice that Stringer Bell is kinda portrayed like he's the noble one in the organization. He doesn't physically get involved in dirt, he wears a suit, goes to school, and tries to get into "legit" money.
I think he's the worst of the organization by a fairly large margin. He showed blatant disrespect for "the game" and everyone in it. He wanted legit money, but only so he'd be above the game. He violated a longstanding truce. He got a person killed, who just wanted to do the jail time that he earned. This is stuff that Avon would've never done.
What do you think?
Bruce Wayne has struck a business deal in Baltimore and decides to go there for 3 months. As Batman, he decides to investigate further into the Barksdale and Stanfield organizations. Batman has all of the gadgets and tools in The Dark Knight Trilogy, except for the SONAR system. He also does not have help from the Baltimore PD. In order to win, Batman must fully take down the organizations.
Round 1: Barksdale organization (Season 1) Round 2: Stanfield organization Round 3: Both organizations at once
Bonus: Scarecrow becomes a part of the Stanfield organization and The Joker replaces Omar, but Batman now has all of the help he can get with the Baltimore PD. How far will Batman be able to get?
*The fight takes place in an Amalgam of Baltimore and New Jersey. Letβs call it New Baltimore *Both sides control exactly 50% of New Baltimoreβs territory *Both sides start out at the height of their power that was depicted in each otherβs show *The fight is won by either conquering the others territory or killing all of the opposition *No peace treaties or truces
IMO, it's almost as if Mouzone was written in as Omar's partner in crime to briefly be the antithesis of the Stringer-Barksdale partnership. Not only are the two sides curiously opposite in their characteristics (e.g. Mouzone and Stringer being very knowledgeable, etc.), but more interesting is what happens in Season 3 between the four of them.
Am I missing any important pieces to this story? Any interesting points/comparisons that I'm leaving out?
Gus Fring has moved his operation to Baltimore, bringing Walter White, Jesse Pinkman, Mike Ehrmantraut, and his other henchmen with him. He refuses to deal with Avon's crew, and begins infringing on their territory, which cuts into their business, and provokes Avon into wanting a war with Fring.
The cops are a potential active factor in this. They are employing the same creative wiretap methods against Fring that they have always used against their other targets (even if they do not know yet who Fring is.)
Two of the greatest drug empires ever on TV clash for dominance and control of the drug market. Walter White's Meth Business (Breaking Bad) and Avon's Heroin Business (The Wire). Both empire's are at their prime. They have an equal amount of following, dealers, enforcers and people with them, however how would their leadership rank? Who, at the end of the day, shall emerge victorious over the drug trade?
Round 1: Both empires arrive in New York City at the same time with the workers they would have if they were in their prime. No one has ever heard of Heisenberg or Avon yet so both have to try to make a name for themselves.
Round 2: Barksdale arrives in Albuquerque and attempts to dethrone Walter White and co. Do they succeed?
Round 3: Heisenberg and co. arrive at Baltimore and try to dethrone Barksdale. Do they suceed?
Bonus Round: Who/what crime empire can take down both of them?
Scenario 1: (Set during present day) Walter White moves to Maryland to continue his cancer treatment, using the money that he got from his first sell to Tuco. Tuco puts Walt in contact with his man in Baltimore, Proposition Joe. Prop Joe gives Walt a small mobile lab that gets torn down after every successful cook.
How long until:
A) Stringer realizes that Walt's product is cutting deep into his cash-flow and that he needs to be eliminated. (Walt can only make a certain amount during a cook, so Stringer buying from him would be cutting into Prop Joe's cut and would not be feasible)
B) The blue meth attracts Detective McNulty and a case begins on "Heisenberg".
Scenario 2*: After Avon is released from prison, Stringer suggests moving the business side of their operations (at least part-time) to New Mexico to avoid the police from watching him and to expand their drug empire. Avon stays in Maryland to maintain a presence and make sure their present stake in the game isn't lost. (This is under the idea that Stringer got Avon to agree to the co-op with Prop Joe.)
How long until:
A)Gus Fring figures out that Stringer is trying to take over Albuquerque using his various businesses as fronts to launder drugs and money.
*(This scenario takes place during the time when Walt and Gale were working for Gus)
Bonus Round: How long would Jesse last in Baltimore before getting robbed by Omar?
Ho! Ho! Ho!
It's a Christmas miracle!... Just like the ones you see on the Hallmark Channel...
Sorta...
Beware of AI's bearing gifts.

Vershonna stood in front of her company of warriors and clicked happily as she emitted a cloud of pride and satisfaction.
Two hundred warriors, her company, her creation. They might not be seasoned, and they were equipped only with sharr, a monomollecular polearm, but they were magnificent!
Regardless of the fact that they were βwarriors-minorβ, she had trained them well. They were fearless and disciplined and would be a fine vanguard.
She felt honored to be leading them into battle. By right of their superior nature, victory over the tentacled ones was assured.
Their shells were waxed and polished and gleamed in the light of the large bay that had been assigned to her and her alone. Their sharr sparkled with the light of righteousness, ready to cut down the vile beasts that offended creation by their mere existence.
This was her right, her honor, her destinyβ¦
and her path to greatness. She had already been granted the gift of full queenhood in order to lay the eggs that are now her warriors.
She smiled at the four drones she had been gifted, all handsome and clever.
She was truly blessed.
Whatβs more, she had just been informed that she was going to be granted one of the matriarchβs consorts, along with his force of seasoned warriors-major!
She took care not to leak excitement at the thought. Her poor little consorts would be jealous enough as it was. She had already made the decision to not neglect them regardless of how magnificent the new drone would be.
As she dismissed her troops and allowed them to feed, she pondered the very curious discussion she had had with the matriarch.
βQueen Vershonna,β the matriarch said to her, βwhile you do outrank Katun, and he will respect and follow your orders, you should listen to him and take his advice. He and his warriors have survived four encounters with the enemy. His experience and wisdom will serve you well, if you can breathe freely enough to take it.β
Breathe free? What did that even mean? Why was the fact that Katun had survived four battles noteworthy? The tentacled ones, and the bipeds were inferior creatures with inferior technology. Was victory not assured?
She shrugged, it mattered not.

If god forbid I'm facing serious charges I'd feel lucky to have either on my side, but who do you got? Saul obviously has a flashier highlight real, but BB and CS stretch reality a little bit, whereas the Wire is more realistic.
Also I'm not talking about a crazy situation like picking up 7 million in Mexico- lol imagine Levy stuck out in the desert- but a trial taking place in the United States.

April 4th, 2024
Opening day is here again, so itβs time to preview the 2024 Providence Patriots! Iβll review each of the offseason moves, then bring in GM and manager Zen Master to talk about the opening day roster and season expectations. If you want to catch up on last yearβs 92-70 campaign check out my 2023 season review.
Offseason Moves
2024 Start of Offseason Financials
It didnβt take long for the Patriots to get busy in the offseason, as they made a whopping six trades on day one. A total of ten new players were brought in, with five of those projected to be opening day starters. Weβll go through each trade one-by-one, with reactions from both sides:
Patriots Receive: Pavin Smith, Eric Wright, $1M Cash
Diamondbacks Receive: Joe Walls, Israel Barajas, Alex Padilla
The Patriots brought in two starting position players (Pavin Smith, Eric Wright) in exchange for a major-league-ready reliever (Alex Padilla) and two prospects (Joe Walls, Israel Barajas). This is what hitting coach Joey Demonte had to say about the win-now move: βI canβt comment much on the pitchers, other than to say you probably shouldnβt put too much faith in any pitching prospect, but the batters exchanged make a lot of sense for our organization. Smith and Wright are contact hitters that should excel at our stadium, while the guy we sent away (Barajas) projects to be more of a traditional slugger. This might be one of those deals that works out for both sides.β
I also caught up with Molly Barksdale of Arizona Fanatics, who wasnβt as optimistic about Arizonaβs return: βWe traded our best player (Pavin Smith) and our future starting center fielder (Eric Wright) for a couple of mid-tier prospects. I know Smith was arbitration eligible, but this doesnβt seem like a deal that makes a lot of sense. Hopefully, the team knows something I donβt.β
Patriots Receive: Mike McMinn, Lucas Herbert, $500k Cash
Dodgers Receive: Josh Rojas, Tyler Frank
In deal number two the Patriots sent out their starting first baseman (Tyler Frank) and designated hitter (Josh Rosas) in exchange for a reliever (Mike McMinn) and minor league catcher (Lucas Herbert). Assistant GM Seung-Hwa Kim explains why t
... keep reading on reddit β‘Did anyone else find it odd that the gangs identified under the name of their leader? Like on the west side you just have Barksdale organization, not like βthe West Side Mafiaβ or something. Same with the east side and Prop Joe.
You hear references to βflying colorsβ and βoff brandβ / independent crews, but you never see hang colors or names.
Is this a Baltimore thing? It just seems odd considering you would think that the kingpins would want to keep a low profile.
So its very clear in season 2 Avon's sentence spooked the Columbians because Roberto got caugt up and Avon only got 7 years. Therefore Stringer had to go to Vargus down in Atlanta and that stuff was always weak( im assuming heroine since thats what Stringer inevitably goes to Prop Joe for).
But if you remember in season 1 Stringer and De'Angelo had that conversation about "new package same as old" and the feins were coming back on them saying it was weak. So why was the original product in towers weak? Assuming if the junkies were complaing they were used to better stuff and it seemed the organization was at its peak then.
Did the Eastside already have the Greek Connect and the barksdale stuff sucked in comparison? or was the Barksdale crew already on the decline product wise either because they were cutting it too much or Robertos H just wasnt that good.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!

My name is Jason Green. On January 29th, 2019 I was convicted of a crime I didn't commit. As a matter of fact, I was convicted for crime I wasn't even accused of or tried for. In 2011 I was arrested and later indicted for murder in the shooting death of my girlfriend/fiancΓ©, Shay Ledlow. On one hand it is understandable that my telling police that the gunshot was self inflicted fell upon deaf ears. On the other hand, any death investigation should be thoroughly sifted for any and all pertinent details. My indictment was very clear: Count 1: MURDER The Grand Jury of Franklin County charges, before the finding of this indictment, Jason Dewayne Green, whose name is otherwise unknown to the Grand Jury than as stated, did intentionally cause the death of another person, to-wit Shay Nicole Ledlow, by shooting the said victim through the mouth, in violation of 13A-6-2 of the code of Alabama, against the peace and dignity of the State of Alabama. Scary stuff to read when you know you're innocent. Even scarier when you realize that you are NOT a part of the "good ole boy" network within your local government and the family of your "victim" owns a seat on the board, so to speak. (more on that later) In 2015, after the District Attorney had hired MY lawyer, Jeff Barksdale (the one I trusted and was prepared for trial) to be the new Assistant District Attorney, the other lawyer I had Billy Underwood (the crooked one) used the fear I spoke of to convince me that taking the States offer of a Blind Plea was the best option because there was just no way to defend a murder when there had been only two people present in the house, but if I took the plea I wouldn't go to prison. (I had him on tape saying this stuff.) So I took the plea, got 19 years 364 days. Filed a Rule 32, used the tape recording to prove I was seriously misled and the plea was vacated in September of 2017 after two and a half years in prison. 2017: Facing a new trial, with new lawyers, to numb to be scared, and determined to prove my innocence come hell or high water and in defiance of the "good ole boy network" we were facing,we got to work. This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
