I have now called the police 11 times on the neighbors behind me about their f*****g barking dog. This barking is absolutely ruining my life. I try to stay away from home as much as possible. I need to do so many things in my house, but I can't do them because I have to leave all the time. Anyway, when the cops respond to my call they come to my house, and give a 20-minute dissertation on how wonderful the barking dog owners are.They sympathize with the barking dog owners and here's what the cops tell me:
*Get noise canceling headphones
*Get a white noise machine
*Close your windows. (When I said spring and summer are coming the cop said, “that's a ways off”.)
*Her husband's been deployed (National Guard 2 weekends/mo)
*They bought a stop bark apparatus for their yard.
*They are doing what they can to stop it.
*You’re in the city, so that’s what happens.
*They use them for guard dogs.
Nice, huh?
Some of you know how barking has made my life an intolerable hell. So you can imagine what I thought when I read this post going on and on about how irritated she was by the sound of the frogs. OH REALLY.
I don’t let this shit go. I always respond when it comes to a barking dog complaint or some dumb shit like this. Not one time have I been challenged and I get even get more and more thanks each time. Nutters disappear because answering me is the same as saying they think it’s fine for a dog to be neglected and stressed. Still, interesting they don’t even try to argue with me (they’d lose).
So I get online and post how I don’t get how one doesn’t find the sounds of nature beautiful and how I love hearing the frogs and other wildlife.
Then I wrote “what is not beautiful is the sound of nonstop frantically barking dogs”.
I didn’t mind if I poked the bear. I’m ready.
As I’m reading the comments, not one person agrees with this chick. I even saw what I thought were vague references to how nice it was to listen to frogs vs the usual bs. Everybody loves it.
And I’m usually not one to laugh about insults, but I laughed my ass off when a guy posted how she must have underlying mental issues and to seek help and another guy said NASA reported no water or life on Mars so it’s a frog-free zone. I’m sorry. It just feels like justice when somebody with this mentality gets shut down. I’m going to enjoy it
So the frogs start their music tonight and RIGHT ON CUE that fucking neurotic howler across the canyon goes on for about 20 minutes. 5 minutes later, that fucking mutt next door responsible for my misery starts that high pitched squealing when the owners get home who ignore him of course.
I like to think that maybe something will click where people enjoying the music of the frogs , only for it to be ruined AGAIN by barking, will finally have had enough. Maybe seeing my post will give a little encouragement that it’s actually ok to speak up.
Who knows? But guess who has the most “thanks” so far? THIS CHICK.
idk. I’m not expecting anything to change, but it was nice to have a little feel good moment.
I imagine this won't go well. My landlord's son lives with his girlfriend a couple houses down. The girlfriend got a "rescue" dog well over a year ago. Whenever they leave the house they put it outside where it barks pretty much constantly. I can't stand it.
I complained to the landlord when the barking started but the silence only lasted for two days. Haven't bothered bringing it up again. I've been touting those sonic bark boxes lately. Sorry, I guess I was wrong. Unless the batteries died. They're not in an easily accessible area so I can't really check them. Maybe the stupid dog just got used to it. I don't know.
So tonight at 4AM (after at least TWO HOURS of constant barking) I decide to leave a note on their door. Maybe they don't realize that their dog really does bark nonstop when they're gone because it does shut up right when it hears their cars pull up.
However, right then they came home. So I walk over there and tell them their dog has been barking all night. The son says nothing, ignores me and walks up to the house. So I'm just talking to the girlfriend who clearly does not care how obnoxious and loud her dog is. Unfuckingbelieveable.
She makes a lame excuse about how they're normally not gone until 4AM. I tell her that's not an excuse. This is not ok. People are trying to sleep. She doesn't fucking care. So then I say next time it's getting pepper sprayed. Her whiny response was: You better not touch my dog. To which I respond I don't need to touch it to spray it hahaha
I'm living in this place month to month with no lease. I better not be kicked out over her fucking dog.

Long story short my next door neighbor has a dog that barks constantly. The poor thing is never allowed inside the house and I think it's barking out of loneliness, hunger, thirst, anger or probably all of the above. I brought it up to them a few times and was making a concerted effort to be as friendly as possible but they've absolutely resisted and seem to give zero fucks about it. I don't really want to bring criminal charges on someone, seems crazy that Phoenix has these rules like why isn't this a neighborhood violation like having weeds or chipping/peeling paint? If a neighbor doesn't take a hint you have to file criminal charges? Seems over the top but whatever, if that's what I have to do I'll consider it.
Has anyone actually gone through it? Is it as ridiculous as they make it sound?

Ever since I’ve joined this sub, I’ve been more wary of pit bulls and other aggressive dogs. I realized how many people in my neighborhood own them. But this didn’t happen in my neighborhood.
My dog, a 7 month old Havanese, has had some behavioral problems lately and hasn’t been the most calm dog in public. So I decided to take him to a trainer. He’s not generally aggressive, he just hates it when you touch his feet. He isn’t too socialized with dogs and gets a little nervous around them, because of a bad experience with another pit bull in our neighborhood. Plus, the dogs that live next to us bark and growl at him all day long when they’re outside. But he doesn’t show aggression towards them. Neither does he with people. He thinks everyone is his friend (this is another reason why we took him to training, because it’s annoying sometimes). So what I’m getting at, is that he happy whines when he sees people he doesn’t know.
So of course he did this in the waiting room of the training facility. He was getting petted so many times and he was just enjoying life. He was also sniffing all the small and big dogs, and they were just having a ball with each other.
But then someone brought their pit in. The second the owner opened the door, the pit lunged at my dog. It was choking itself. The owner was also using a dumb retractable leash, but it looked like it was locked at a certain length. Still, the pit came within inches of my dog, and it freaked me out. It also lunged at the other dogs, completely unprovoked. But the owner focused on me, saying that I should calm my dog down (because he was happy whining again). I was cut off before I could say anything. I don’t see how my dog sitting down and wagging his tail gives your dog the right to attack him. My dog literally ran underneath my chair too. Just another bad experience to worsen his issues.
The owner of the dog that was playing with mine told her to muzzle the dog. She gave him the stink eye and ignored everyone. The pit was still growling and barking at everyone. None of the staff told her to calm it down, but they did ask her to take it outside after she checked in. She gave us all the stink eye again as she left. Glad no one was hurt. I didn’t see her after I left our session. Hopefully she fucked off.

I always here “they are just protecting their property!” And it will be a breed that isn’t an attack dog. There was never a threat! Don’t they get tired hearing their disgusting beasts barking at everything? It’s the most obnoxious, mind numbing noise. I have never met a dog owner that has trained their dog out of this habit.
