A list of puns related to "The Father Christmas Letters"
I'm thinking about buying the book this December to read over the holidays. Is it any good? Ive read that it's for children etc. But does this matter? I mean the Hobbit is technically a children's book but it's one of my all time favourites. I will probably get the slipcase edition.
My (43M) STBXW (soon to be ex-wife) of 20 years walked out on me this year (6 months ago). My father (74) sent me a draft of his annual Christmas letter, asking if there are any corrections to this year's draft. (note - he does this letter every year, and always asks me and my siblings for updates as he sometimes gets the stories/ events wrong). He sends the letter to all his friends and extended family as his Christmas card (~100 people). The letter says that my STBXW "unexpectedly left me & thus left our family this year", as one of the events this year. I replied to his email to remove it prior to sending it out to everyone, he responded and asked why. I said my life is not gossip for his 100 closest friends, I don't know them, and it is none of their business.
I thought that the issue was settled, but he brought it up again today when I was talking to him, saying it is true and he didn't understand what the issue is. I told him I don't know any of these people, and don't think that it is needed. He responded and said his extended family (most of whom I don't even know) and friends frequently ask how the family is doing. (For reference, you cannot change my father's mind on anything, if he has decided something). I told him to do whatever he wants, to take me off his mailing list and not ask me to proof read it in the future - I don't want to have anything to do with it. He got upset at me for saying I didn't want to be involved in his letter any longer and asked me "if I had ever thought my knee jerk reaction to small things maybe part of the reason my STBXW left me?" I was so upset that I said that I have to go and hung up.
My father has tried to be supportive since my STBXW left, but has during this time done stuff that I find offensive such as this. In the last 6 months there have been a couple of times where he has tried to "fix me" to help me "get over it", and I have told him to stop, and he won't listen, so I have gotten up and left his house I was so upset.
Am I overreacting? WIBTA if I cut him off, going no contact for a while at least, and not going to Christmas? This would kill my mom, whom I spoke to and agrees with me.
Edit - to define STBXW (soon to be ex-wife)

My dad has always been the kind of person who never wants anything for Christmas or his birthday. He specifically asked me to write him a letter as he feels like the "art of letter writing" is disappearing. I'm a strong writer in many aspects, but not when it comes to my own feelings. Like, ugh, I hate feeling vulnerable in any way so beyond basic platitudes I wouldn't know what to say that wouldn't end up sounding disingenuous and corny.
What should I talk about?
My sister and her 2 daughter Walked to the post box and posted their letter to Father Christmas. I got to wondering where all them letters actually go, so I come to Reddit to ask!
So i didn't sure about topic. But i searched all day and don't found any stuff about translation of letter from Polar Bear using goblin's font. My translation:
>I wish you all a very happy christmas & a splendid new year
>
>with lots of fun & good luck at school you are getting so clever now what with
>
>latin & french & greek that you will easily read this & see much love from pb
Because all of the others were not E.
What are the tales from the perilous realm like? What is letters from Father Christmas like? As someone who just got into tolkien (Iβm in my mid 20s) are these worth reading?
I wish Iβd opened it years ago, though, because this letter is not his handwriting.
I was wondering today about this book and the coming of December. Then i thought, what if i should read it as an advent calendar. What's your thoughts on that, is it possible to do it?
I've never read it before so it would be an awesome thing if it should work.
When I was younger I didnβt believe in Santa, but I thought the post office had to deliver all letters. How many letters to Santa actually come through the post and what happens to them?
He was the fleeced na'vi dad.
Merry Xmas y'all
I just discovered this podcast about a month and a half ago (just in time for quarantine listening).
I am going through the backlog of content and right now, I am listening to their second Christmas special. The verbal introduction says is just a re-air of their first Christmas Special, but the episode description says it's a special director's cut re-release, implying that there is more in this episode that the first release.
Since it's the beginning of spring, and I have about 70 episodes to go, I feel that if there isn't any actual bonus material, I should probably skip this episode. What do you all think?
Fanta Claus.
Sheβs squealing and jumping up and down in excitement. She says she feels special because Father Christmas has read her letter!
Pure magic
There were lots of L's.
[I pulled this one on my wife as we were rummaging through the display looking for the right letters for our guests' first names. I was afraid the joke was too obtuse, but bright girl that she is, she got it right away. She gave me a wonderful eye roll and said, "You had to go there, huh?" Our kids are in college now so we're empty-nesters, but I can still have a proud dadjoke moment sometimes.]
