A list of puns related to "The Faerie Queene"
Ever read Shakespeare? Well, this 1,000 page poem is just like the Bard...on crack-cocaine, that is.
This poem, The Faerie Queene, was written to celebrate Queen Elizabeth and tells a long, convoluted allegorical tale. I'm only about 5 pages in, and I'm already wowed by the sheer brilliance. The verse is like constructing new worlds with each stanza and going deeper and deeper into new worlds of meaning. It's also super trippy. This epic, obscure poem began fantasy novels before they even existed.
So far, I've understood that it starts off with an Anime-like party: with a knight, a beautiful lady travelling on an ass, with a small lamb in her arms, and - get this - a freaking Dwarf "lagging behind" them on their journey. They end up going into a tree area, which houses a really dangerous monster that confronts the party. It's a wondrous strange beast, whose children go inside of its own mouth to hide. Here is Spenser describing the foolish knight deciding to venture into a dark place to see the monster:
The youthfull knight could not for ought be staide,
But forth vnto the darksome hole he went,
And looked in: his glistring armor made
A litle glooming light, much like a shade,
By which he saw the vgly monster plaine,
Halfe like a serpent horribly displaide,
But th'other halfe did womans shape retaine,
Most lothsom, filthie, foule, and full of vile disdaine.
This disgusting beast, half serpent and half woman, is seen by the knight and a battle ensues. Spenser even devotes an ENTIRE 6-line stanza to describing its puke!
And in the battle, guess what happens? An elf out of nowhere comes in and basically holds the monster captive at knife-point, threatening to shank it if it moves:
"Which when the valiant Elfe perceiv'd, he leapt
As Lion fierce upon the flying pray,
And with his trenchand blade her boldly kept
From turning backe, and forced her to stay"
And I'm only about 5 pages in! This epic poem is wild ! Anyone ever read it?
Hello, I've recently taken an interest in Edmund Spenser's The Faerie Queene, but as he deliberately wrote it in language archaic even in his time, I'm having some trouble reading it.
Can anyone recommend a complete (for the six books Spenser finished) translation or, preferably, a complete and well-annotated version? I don't mind reading "Lo I the man, whose Muse whilome did maske" as long as I have a footnote, maybe even an endnote, telling me what "whilome" means.
I'm used to Norton levels of annotation, but I can't find a Norton-published version that doesn't cut out sections of the story.
Thanks in advance!
Recommended if you like: fae folk / faerie tales, a very wide, soft magic system, aspects of urban/portal fantasy, hate/love romance, fucked up family relationships, royalty PoV, curses and magic items

If you have not heard of The Folk of the Air trilogy before (The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King being the first two volumes), perhaps my review for the first two books from earlier this year would be more interesting to you, since I don't expect anyone to jump in at book three (and you'd be fairly lost if you did so).

How limited is the Faerie Queen's use of Doormaker's shard in comparison to when Doormaker was using it in combo with Clairvoyant?
Ive been farming for a while now and already exchanged one card (so more than 100 times on aurora now) but I still haven't gotten one card to drop. Rate is abysmal xD
Don't scroll past this warning, your lives are all in immediate danger. I know what you are thinking, but please before you roll your eyes and move on let me explain. We accidentally released a Literal Faerie!
This is literally a life and death situation. It started out as a fun Thursday evening, just some college kids goofing around. We thought the book we found was a fake. Who actually expects to find a REAL book of summoning spells at your local antique shop?
Looking back we were so naive. We chose a spell that would "call forth the Literal Faerie". Cool, we thought. We even laughed and joked about how it could be our own personal fairy godmother. Even if it did work, which we never thought was remotely possible, what harm could a faerie do?
We followed the instructions exactly, drew the pentagram, used salt to sanction a circle, we even spilled the blood of a virgin (sorry Maggie), and to our amazement, in a puff of smoke, a faerie appeared in the center of the circle. It was a beautiful little thing, maybe a foot tall with delicate-pointed ears, a mop of lavender hair, tiny sharp-looking teeth, and large black eyes. Its wings sparkled like pearlized glass in the candlelight.
The faerie spoke, its voice high and clear. βThank you for freeing me from my prison. As payment for this gift of freedom, I will grant you one wish.β
I feel I must explain that none of us truly expected the summoning to actually work. We went into this as naive twenty-somethings, so when Maggie spoke up and said she wished for a boyfriend, all I could do was laugh at the ridiculous use of our one wish. But there was nothing to be done and as quickly as the faerie appeared it blinked away.
We didnβt know the danger we released upon the world until the following morning when we got to class. Maggie was sitting beside Jim (her new boyfriend apparently). βSorry class,β Mr. Clark said as he ran into the room, looking sweaty and out of breath as if he had run the entire length of the campus. He spreads out his papers, seeming confused and then begins to go through his briefcase looking for something. βI donβt know what is going on today. I swear I would literally lose my head if...β
That's when it happened. Mr. Clark's head rolls clear off his shoulders, blood spraying from his carotid arteries as his body drops to the floor in an ever-growing pool of blood. His limbs twitching like a headless chicken. The world around us erupted in screams of terror, e
... keep reading on reddit β‘So probably most people have seen this by now. Whenever a pro player, or a high elo player (on sylas, ahri, lb, cassio, ...) backs with around 500 g they go for the dark seal and a Faerie charm. (thats the little mana regen thingy).
Most of these midlaners don't even have the faerie charm in there build path, but people still buy this over dorans ring.
Neither do most of these mid laners try to snowball like Fizz, for which a stacking item like the dark seal is designed, but people still buy this over dorans ring.
It really feels like Doran's ring is a noob trap by now, and no one should be building it.
"You get one wish for finding me," said the faerie.
"All I wish is to know your name, beautiful faerie," the man replied.
The faerie sat there, stunned. One wish, anything in the world, and he wished to know a name?
"Brian," said the man faerie, "sorry to confuse you, we all look like chicks"
And so the man headed to the nearest cliff, and jumped off, cause he wasn't about no gay shit.
4 FFQs throughout the duration of the event, one of which was through (the Grey Faerie) Baelia's reward.
My pets' initial colours before being dipped were: Red Zafara, Desert Lutari, Pirate Draik.
Chocolate Draik came to me as a surprise, as I initially did not fancy any of my pets being any of the food colours (i.e. Jelly, Custard, Biscuit). While I was deciding on a colour for her, juggling between Woodland, Stealthy (for the wearable items) and Striped, her wig looked as if it was made out of chocolate. Since she's a confectionery artist, I gave Chocolate a go on DTI, and I was satisfied with how she looks. Now she can make cannibalism jokes- //slapped
So! Here's my question to the folks lurking in this subreddit: What colours have you painted your pet(s) that you unexpectedly like? Share the pets you've coloured during this event!
This is my first fountain faerie request ever! And I only spent 3k!
Decided to go with dipping my Gnorbu "Whilohh" Plushie! -insert crying face emoji here-
Anyone else in love with Plushie pets? Or just me?

tl;dr: It doesn't do shit as of now. You CAN refresh Delina, but you won't get her anymore for the rest of the event, because she's pissed at you or something.
It was evident that the Faerie Quest Refresh Boon was buggy with the new Faerie Quest Event with those who obtained the boon through 2019 Charity Corner's perk.
From what I've seen, the difference from the Obelisk Refresh compared to the CC Refresh was that the CC Refresh would possibly terminate your quests (aka you get a broken screen and nothing afterwards) but the Obelisk Refresh will just refuse to refresh at all (I've received few reports that it might work if the requested item was not new to the Faerie, but cannot confirm 100%).
Delina, however, can be quest refreshed but DO KNOW that if you do refresh her you will not get receive a quest from her anymore whether that be from the event, a Cookie, or Random Event.
As of right now, we are unsure when this glitch (or any of the other Faerie Quest Event bugs) will be resolved, but let's all have patience until then. If you have received a quest termination (or have other Faerie Quest Event errors), then I'd suggest sending a ticket to TNT (e-mail support@neopets.com).
I just want to have proper expectations.
Contest is closed. I am going as IPRE Lup from The Adventure Zone: Balance and girfex is going to be Barry Bluejeans!
Nobody guessed so I am going to do random draw. :)
Hey guys. /u/girfex and myself and some friends are going to Dragoncon at the end of this month and we both plan to Cosplay!
I already have most of my costume and cannot wait. So... for a prize item of $10 or less off your wishlist, can you guess who I am going to cosplay as????
I will give you a few hints just to point you in the right direction.
1.) My primary color is red.
2.) I have special ear accessories to wear.
3.) This character is fantasy related, but not as famous as say Eowyn or Arwen from Lord of the Rings.
First person to guess correctly will receive the prize, but I will not gift until at least tomorrow afternoon. If nobody guesses correctly I will gift randomly.
For a bonus point, can you guess who /u/girfex is cosplaying as? It is a couple cosplay.
Edit: I am going to add another hint. This character is female and nonhuman.
Edit: This character has a twin brother.
So the way I usually do Faerie Caves is I ask Siri for a number between 1 and 2 (1=left 2=right). Today my mom was sitting next to me on the couch so I asked her "right or left?" "1 or 2?" and "x or y?" and the combination she chose just so happened to be the prize room for 500 np. If only it were the stamp!
I got the Gray Faerie as a quest and she asked for a blue mirror, which I gave her, but when I did the page loaded to just a broken image link. I know I completed it because i can now use the shop wizard, but i have NO CLUE what the reward was. Also, I thought she always asked for pet pets? Why the mirror? Kind of annoyed.
