Introduction
Hi everyone! I’m a competitive Splatoon 2 player and I thought that it has been an ample amount of time since this particular incident has passed and I figured I should share it with the Hobby Drama community. I’ve also been “involved” in this situation as I was in the official Nintendo Discord server and witnessed the whole event go down from the sidelines. This is my first post on r/HobbyDrama so I'm proud to share this story about the Splatoon 2 competitive community.
Background
Splatoon 2 is a multiplayer 3rd person shooter on the Nintendo Switch. The premise revolves around squid humanoids called "inklings," and the game's "gimmick" relies on the inklings painting turf with their respective ink color as the main objective. It boasts a growing competitive scene that’s largely driven by its own members (including myself) for different types of tournaments and events. Nintendo typically hosts its own region specific “Open” tournaments once every few months, where Nintendo encourages anyone to enter (including the top teams in North America and the casuals who want to play for fun).
This event went down a little differently than the rest, however. In late November, the news hit that the next 2020 North American (NA) Open was going to happen in the first weekend of December.
At the time, this was when the competitive Super Smash Bros Melee community was also in turmoil with how Nintendo was restricting their ability to play in tournaments virtually due to Covid-19. In order to play Melee online, the community turned to a software called Slippi that allowed accessible online capabilities that the game otherwise wouldn’t support. Nintendo highly disapproves of this modification, so it sent a cease and desist letter to a well known tournament known as "The Big House" that planned to use Slippi for an upcoming event. With that cease and desist letter, this situation quickly devolved and the #SaveMelee movement roared to life. You can read more about Slippi and #SaveMelee here.
How does this relate to Splatoon 2? The Smash and Splatoon communities are fairly intertwined with each other, with players, commentators, tournament organizers, and influencers being involved in both communities. this also been hoping to me a lot more . yet I do not want to join any more thrower and has been blocking them . should I also report them as for throwing out of match on splat Zone . how do other users deal with it . I am live in the UK and I get a lot of a thrower . I used to do but not as much other users that always seem to be on my team . does take ten mins to make a lobby reset . I am S+0 in splat Zone .
Do you guys think there will even be a S2 player base after S3 comes out? I mean it’ll be obsolete right? Unless you just prefer S2

Hello everyone. I am very interested in using Blasters as I saw some awesome moves, mostly a 1 hit kill. But when I use them, I can't really kill much in 1 hit. I wanted to ask what are the best ways or strategy to do this? I enjoy using this weapon very much. If you need a bit more info here we go : I love to go up and personal, I love to storm up ahead and fight. My abilities are : 3x swim up, 3x Main power up, 3x walk speed up/or ink saver. Any tips or help for a blaster newbie? :S Which blaster is the best for killing specifically? Thanks a lot everyone!
Got a Switch last Christmas and slowly been investing in games and whatnot, and I thought about getting Splatoon 2. However, I also keep seeing discussion about a Splatoon 3 popping up. Basically, is the game active enough where I should get it, or should I wait until Splatoon 3 comes out? Whenever that is.

Heyo! I'm new to Reddit so I don't know whether It's ok for me to ask here or if there's an appropriate section for that...
But anyways! (Prtty long, srry)
I started getting interested on the series right around last week, even watching lore summaries to better understand what's going on, and thought of possibly buying Splatoon 2 (used, as it would be cheaper). At some point though I found out about Splatoon 3 and how its official release is just a year away. Obviously I was pretty hyped with the announcement, especially with the ability to have whatever hairstyles you want no matter your gender. But... I don't know, the series got me so fking hooked (heh) and it's hard to stay patient.
Unfortunately, I'm too young to earn my own money and there's no way in hell that my parents/sister would buy me a game (of all things) around 60€, which is probably Splatoon 3's cost upon release where I am. On the other hand, after relentlessly searching for lower prices, I found a pretty cheap one for S2!
So that leaves the question: "Buy 2 now or wait?"
Any answers would be appreciated!

Hello, everyone. Last year, I thought my original Switch shorted out because it would not respond when I tried to turn it on. Got a new Switch before CV19 hit the US hard in March. Out of curiosity, I booted up my old Switch and it worked just fine. So now I have two Switches oddly enough. I have the two same accounts on both consoles with different saves for S2. I don't want to lose any save data if needed.
S2 does not support cloud-saves so that is out. I don't know if you can have the same account saves twice on one console (highly doubt it). The saves I have are locked to the account they are associated with (checked with Nintendo on this). What would happen to the save data if I were to transfer the save data from the original to the new console? Would the original overwrite the new? Not to sure here.
