A list of puns related to "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937 film)"
Not saying its a good thing cause cough cough beauty and the beast cough cough
But we know we cant stop disneys lice action remakes, and it makes them a lot of money, so why not make more will be their thought.
Disney has MANY movies to remake, but if they wanna remake their first film, make it in 17 years or i riot
For those of you who dont know, Snow white and the seven Dwarfs was made in 1937! I know right? Older than your grandparents. Its also apparently the first feature length animated film, but i didnt fact check this and am lazy to open google lol.
In 2037, this movie will be ONE HUNDRED YEARS OLD! So after that statetment i dont think i need to say anything else. Why make it when its 83 years old when it can be 100?
So recently my partner and I embarked on an epic quest to watch every Disney animated film, in order of release date. So far it has been fascinating watching the evolution of the art form, and seeing at what exact point they learn certain tricks or techniques.
I thought it would be fun to open this up to the Reddit community and see other peoples reactions to seeing some of these films for the first time in years (or possibly the first time). So let's start from the begining. Who has watched "Snow White" recently and what are your thoughts?
Disney's Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs is one of the most culturally important and influential works of art of all time. So much to the point that it, and fairytales as a whole, have been deconstructed and parodied to an extent that seemingly makes completely unironic, straight-forward and non-subversive adaptations of fairy tales almost impossible to think of nowadays. It even makes watching the film a weird experience because you need to be able to put yourself into a mindset detached from all the parodies and imitations that have come since it was released. It's like that old joke that says "someone watches Shakespeare's Hamlet and thinks 'I don't get what is the big deal, it's just a bunch of famous quotations strung together by a hammy old plot'."
Still, despite its rough edges (it was Disney's first feature-length animated movie, it literally proved the viability of the feature-length animation, both financially and artistically, of course being such a trailblazer explains how it suffers from pacing issues and too much padding in the middle chunk of the film, and I think that Disney's second film, Pinocchio, is clearly better in nearly every way), the film is such a charming timeless classic for me because it has virtues that can be appreciated by anyone, specially animation fans, and we might unfairly take those virtues too much by granted nowadays, unfairly numb to it. After all, the film and its influence is part of the cultural zeitgeist to the extent that we can't imagine a world where the film does not exist, it's like the Sun. But the film has beautiful visuals, often amazing atmosphere, amazing score, and amazing animation, specially in the dwarves (the animation of the dwarves is so full of not only lots of movement, but lots of individual personality and depth, there is no emotion or thought that goes through any character's head and is not immediately reflect in the animation, it's so expressive to this day!). And above all, it tells the fairy tale with full sincerity, amazing artistry, seriousness, emotion, weight and commitment to its larger-than-life archetypal story (I will go in more detail about this in the rest of this rant). There are no jokes undermining any dramatic and serious scene. The queen is a completely serious villain, no funny henchment or funny animals.
This rant is inspired by one recent rant about the Disney
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hello, participant. You have been chosen to travel into every single Disney movie, and downsize the powers of the villains.
You donβt know what we mean? Well let us tell you a story.
One day, we were watching some of the movies, when we noticed that the villains somehow got more powerful than before. Soon as we knew it, the villains won, leaving the heroes with no happily ever after.
Cinderella never got married, Peter Pan got killed by Captain Hook, the rat in Lady and the Tramp murdered the baby, stuff like that.
Which is where you come in. We need you to travel into the movies, sneak up behind the villain, and stab them with a syringe, draining only half of their powers, which will make their powers how they were in the movies.
Once youβve been teleported inside the movie, you canβt trust anyone you meet. Only listen to us in the ear piece youβll wear.
The first movie youβll be teleported inside is Walt Disneyβs first movie, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
In front of you is a list of rules for you to follow.
Rules for being inside the movie:
You MUST not get caught by anyone. Not the dwarves, not Snow White, not even the queen.
If you die inside the movie, youβll stay dead.
Find a way to sneak inside the castle, and approach the queen. If you get caught by the guards, or even the queen, youβll be sent to the dungeon where youβll remain forever.
As soon as her back is turned, stab the syringe inside of her. Itβll immediately drain half of her powers.
Rules for if you encounter Snow White:
If you ever encounter Snow White, make sure you bow to her. If you donβt, sheβll take you to the queen.
Cover your ears when she sings. Her melody is hypnotic.
If she offers you any food or drinks, politely decline. Chances are, her stepmother poisoned them.
The animals are her minions. If youβve somehow angered her, sheβll make the animals kill and eat youβ¦ while youβre alive.
Rules if you encounter any of the seven dwarves:
If you encounter Doc and he talks to you, donβt laugh when he stumbles over his words. Heβll murder you with a pickax.
Make sure you NEVER encounter Grumpy. Heβll take you to the queen cause he might think βyouβre an evil warlockβ.
Wear a mask if you encounter Sneezy. You donβt want to catch what he has. If you do, youβll die from it.
Bashful, if you encounter him, is a lot like the boos from the Super Mario games. Heβll hide if you look in his direction. If you turn away, h
-Heβs Non Verbal
-Has poor motor skills (He trips a lot)
-Trouble keeping in pace (As seen in the βHeigh Hoβ song)
-Immature for his age
-Sleep disturbance
-Stims by sticking out his tongue and wiggles his ears a lot
-Doesnβt understand when someone is angry towards him
-No sense of boundaries
So TLDR, the Legacy challenge on the Sims consists of playing a family through ten generations. This take is based off of each Disney princess. For the first Gen you're Snow White and must have seven children.
I tried my best to match the names of the seven dwarfs. I tried matching the meaning too but it was nearly impossible. So I opted for the first syllabe or two letters of each name. With the exception of the last born daughter which is the next heir and princess.
Docila - the oldest, based off of Doc, who is the leader of the dwarfs.
Gregory - Grumpy. He is a short tempered sim also haha
Harlan - Happy. There were honestly not many names with 'Hap' to choose from.
Sloan - Sleepy. I tried finding one that started with 'Sle' but, alas, also very few to choose from.
Basilia - Bashful. I loved this one! Tried finding one with 'Bash' to no avail. Except maybe for Basha, which I was considered, but ended up liking Basilia more.
Snowy - Sneezy. Honestly this one was quite lazy haha since I didn't find any that started with 'Sne' and there were also few started with 'Sn' even except 'Snezana' which... Pretty obvious hahah. Decided to just pay sort of a tribute to the founder since it matched
Lastly, Cinderella. Since she's the heir. Unfortunately couldn't use any substitute for Dopey. But if you could, which one would it be?
Which names would you choose instead of mines? Would love to hear.
Also, what are your Sims names in general? Also would love to hear.
After many years of contemplating, I've finally began my Disney movie collection. My goal is to own all the major animated Disney films on Blu-Ray. While building my collection, I'm finally watching some classic films that I haven't seen since I was a child.
The first major animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), stood out to me in particular. The film has many of the elements that could qualify it as a Halloween special.
While the film is very light hearted at times, it also has dark and spooky imagery. The forest of spooky trees and a dungeon filled with skulls. A witch that turns into a hag, who tries to murder the Heroine through apples infused with witchcraft or simply have her heart gutted out by a huntsman.
While maybe not scary to an average adult, this imagery could be pretty terrifying to a kid, definitely scarier than the average Halloween TV special that we watched and loved as kids.
I don't believe I'm wrong in saying the evil Queen disguised as an old hag in Snow White, was both inspired by the iconic witch of folklore, and has helped form the image of the iconic spooky Halloween witch for the 20th century.
All that being said, Snow White obviously does not take place or have anything to do with Halloween. The story of Snow White takes place in Germany in the 14th or 15th century. But just because it doesn't take place on Halloween, doesn't mean it can't be a Halloween classic.
Plenty of beloved Halloween classics have nothing to do with the holiday of Halloween. The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe doesn't mention Halloween, the original Sleepy Hollow story did not mention Halloween. And several films that we watch every October, such as Beetlejuice or a majority of horror movies, do not take place on Halloween. But they still share similar themes, that I believe Snow White also shares.
Some of you may disagree with me, but I plan to re-watch Snow White (1937) this October.
For me, it's one of those movies I respect more than I like.
