A list of puns related to "Silver Linings Playbook"
No media will get your story right, but GaTa felt pretty damn close. It showed the ups, the downs, the medication problems, the fear his family felt. If you've seen it, drop your two pennies.
Edit: I can't change the title, but, representation matters. If Silver Linings is your jam, and that's how you see your story, that's awesome. If Modern Love is the one that connected with you, hell yes. If there's another movie or show that you felt was the one that FINALLY got your story right, fuck yeah. I know I sometimes feel alone in this world and seeing GaTa and his story helped. If those other movies helped you a little, enjoy them and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
I watched it WAY prior to diagnosis. Never saw what was screaming βmental health movie!β Itβs now been 2 years since diagnosis and I watch this and see the REAL reason bipolar is trash and how much I identify with the characters. Iβm blown away.
I'm watching it again to comfort myself because I feel like I'm starting to believe shit that isn't real.
Bradley Cooper: You have poor social skills. You have a problem.
J. Law: I have a problem? You say more inappropriate things than appropriate things. You scare people.
there was one time someone who just found out i had bipolar and i were talking and i was looking for movie recommendations, and their first one was silver linings playbook because it was about bipolar people. i dont really know why, but something about that really pissed me off. maybe it was the timing? im not sure, but now i wont watch it because it makes it kind of feel like a parody to me. idk
i read the first few lines of the plot and that pissed me off too π€·ββοΈ
Iβm a 30 year old dude. Not sure how I wasnβt aware of this movie having a bipolar protagonist. I wasnβt diagnosed till 2019 and it came out in 2012.
I was watching it with a woman Iβm possibly dating. We havenβt talked about what we are yet. I didnβt even know the context beforehand and since she knows Iβm bipolar, I made sure to tell her I had no idea it was about a man struggling to rebuild his life after ruining it while he was undiagnosed.
Itβs on Netflix
Iβm always been into movies but Iβm just starting to get into the oscars and I thought Jennifer Lawrence was really good in Silver Linings Playbook. But Iβve seen some people saying she shouldnβt have won and some saying she should have. So Iβm just wondering what everyone else thinks.
Hey guys, here's my first ever take on some written work. Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!
Who Am I? I am Pat Solitano, a man who recently was released from an eight month stay at a mental institution. I was there because I walked in on my wife, Nikki having an affair and assaulted the man involved. I am diagnosed bipolar with mood swings and have delusions of others conspiring against me. I donβt take my medication because I donβt like how it makes me feel. Healthy living and seeing the silver linings in my life are the best solution to my condition. My biggest goal is to reconcile with Nikki by making the changes necessary on my part while she does the same. In reality, she has moved on and there is no chance of us getting back together.
Who am I talking to? I am speaking to Tiffany. She and I were introduced to each other at my friendβs house. She is suspected to have Borderline Personality Disorder. We have started an odd friendship, mostly based on our neuroses. Tiffany said she would give a letter from me to my estranged wife, Nikki, who has a restraining order against me. She has decided against it because she isnβt getting anything in return and doesnβt want me taking advantage of her. I asked her to think of something I can do and she proposed I enter a dance competition with her. I responded with an emphatic βnoβ and as a result, Tiffany said she wonβt deliver the letter.
Where am I? I am on street in my neighborhood near Tiffany's house.
Lines leading up to the monologue:
PAT: Tiffany, I'm not gonna do a dance with you.
TIFFANY: All right, then I'm not giving her your fucking letter.
TIFFANY WALKS AWAY.
PAT: Wait a second! But you promised you would do this.
TIFFANY TURNS
TIFFANY: Think about it.
TIFFANY TURNS AND WALKS.
PAT: Well, I already did do something for you, you know.
TIFFANY TURNS.
TIFFANY: WHAT DID YOU DO FOR ME?
PAT: I took care of that jerkoff that was in front of your house
TIFFANY: What? Jordie?
PAT Let me ask you something. Do you call him when you're lonely?
TIFFANY STOPS.
PAT (CONT'D) That encourages him, Tiffany. You shouldn't do it.
TIFFANY: Couldn't you say the same about you and Nikki?
Objective: I want to convince Tiffany to deliver my letter to Nikki as she promised. I need her to believe that our marriage isnβt completely lost and that I have done my part to fix things. If I can portray my and Nikkiβs love in a wa
... keep reading on reddit β‘I would have never noticed it either lol. It was written by two guys, supposed to be a Rom Com I guess, but I thought it was pretty bad and not very believable. Made me (I''m a guy btw) curious if Dirty Dancing was written by a woman, and yes it was. I was just much more believable. How do you feel about that movie?
We're both fucked up.. Been through a lot. I know I'm not your Nikky but I can sure be your Tiffany. I wished you would have felt safe enough to open up the past few days. I asked you hard questions, you dodged them. I won't make fun of you. I just really want to make you happy. I want to love you, and hug you..know what's going on in your head. I want to make you happy. Be your home. Be there for you in what ever way you need. Just let me be your Silver lining. I know we have the potential for a happy ending. Xxx
Great movie but an even more compelling story.
Book vs Film. Bradley Cooper plays a man with mental illness.
I was watching this film the other day with my friends and i thought the movie overall was really good. Iβm a fan of David O. Russellβs works (not really the man himself) but I appreciate how his movies always manage to deliver a fine acting performance from nearly everyone in the ensemble. However, there is one that sticks out in this particular filmβJ Law (not Jude, Jennifer).
If Iβm not mistaken, this came out around the same time as Hunger Games 1. I must say, thatβs impressive for the daughter on the Bill Engvall show (this slightly sounds like a brag because I knew her before she was famous but Iβm basically admitting that I used to watch the Bill Engvall Show).
Back to SLP, she won the Academy Award for this role and become the second youngest winner in that categoryβs history. And for good reason
With a movie starring De Niro and Bradley Cooper, I find her to be the most impressive out of the bunch. Particularly the dining scene, which many have pointed out to be a strong point in the film. Her chemistry with Bradley Cooper was impeccable and they performed very well of each other (in contrast to their film Serena, a flaming asshole of cinema). But if I had to choose who I was more impressed with, it would have to be Jennifer by a landslide
I know it was a massive hit when it was originally released but I really do recommend this film, even for the sole purpose of Jennifer Lawrenceβs great performance
Iβm watching this movie and I really like it so far, but am I being unreasonable when I say that I donβt care that he beat the guy up? He comes home from work and hears his wedding song playing. He sees his wifeβs clothes and a mans clothes all over the stairs. He goes to the bathroom and finds his wife in the shower having sex with this other guy. In his home. To top it all off, the other guy says that he should leave. He should leave his home while this guy is sleeping with his wife. Pats reaction seems normal to me and I kind of think the guy had it coming. I still really like the movie though.
PSA- Today is the last day this movie will stream on Netflix. Even a decade later, it's still one of the funniest, cleverest, and most heartwarming movies ever... highly recommend it!
Question for true Philadelphians (I am a transplant from California) - what neighborhood do they likely live in? Are there any easter eggs or the like in the movie that Philadelphians understand but us non-natives might not see?
What a great crazy film . Perfectly made. Not too much syrup and lots of fantastic characters you have never met! Robert de Niro delivers an unusually inspired performance. I guess the cast fired him up. But what I like best is the pacing . They could have drawn out the end but they just got down to it. If you have not seen the film - SEE IT and if you have .... watch it again . Delightful film .
Coming this Sunday, a book that gets into the head of a mentally ill man: Silver Linings Playbook
