A list of puns related to "The Silver Linings Playbook"
No media will get your story right, but GaTa felt pretty damn close. It showed the ups, the downs, the medication problems, the fear his family felt. If you've seen it, drop your two pennies.
Edit: I can't change the title, but, representation matters. If Silver Linings is your jam, and that's how you see your story, that's awesome. If Modern Love is the one that connected with you, hell yes. If there's another movie or show that you felt was the one that FINALLY got your story right, fuck yeah. I know I sometimes feel alone in this world and seeing GaTa and his story helped. If those other movies helped you a little, enjoy them and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
I watched it WAY prior to diagnosis. Never saw what was screaming βmental health movie!β Itβs now been 2 years since diagnosis and I watch this and see the REAL reason bipolar is trash and how much I identify with the characters. Iβm blown away.
I'm watching it again to comfort myself because I feel like I'm starting to believe shit that isn't real.
Bradley Cooper: You have poor social skills. You have a problem.
J. Law: I have a problem? You say more inappropriate things than appropriate things. You scare people.
there was one time someone who just found out i had bipolar and i were talking and i was looking for movie recommendations, and their first one was silver linings playbook because it was about bipolar people. i dont really know why, but something about that really pissed me off. maybe it was the timing? im not sure, but now i wont watch it because it makes it kind of feel like a parody to me. idk
i read the first few lines of the plot and that pissed me off too π€·ββοΈ
Iβm a 30 year old dude. Not sure how I wasnβt aware of this movie having a bipolar protagonist. I wasnβt diagnosed till 2019 and it came out in 2012.
I was watching it with a woman Iβm possibly dating. We havenβt talked about what we are yet. I didnβt even know the context beforehand and since she knows Iβm bipolar, I made sure to tell her I had no idea it was about a man struggling to rebuild his life after ruining it while he was undiagnosed.
Itβs on Netflix

Iβm always been into movies but Iβm just starting to get into the oscars and I thought Jennifer Lawrence was really good in Silver Linings Playbook. But Iβve seen some people saying she shouldnβt have won and some saying she should have. So Iβm just wondering what everyone else thinks.
Hey guys, here's my first ever take on some written work. Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!
Who Am I? I am Pat Solitano, a man who recently was released from an eight month stay at a mental institution. I was there because I walked in on my wife, Nikki having an affair and assaulted the man involved. I am diagnosed bipolar with mood swings and have delusions of others conspiring against me. I donβt take my medication because I donβt like how it makes me feel. Healthy living and seeing the silver linings in my life are the best solution to my condition. My biggest goal is to reconcile with Nikki by making the changes necessary on my part while she does the same. In reality, she has moved on and there is no chance of us getting back together.
Who am I talking to? I am speaking to Tiffany. She and I were introduced to each other at my friendβs house. She is suspected to have Borderline Personality Disorder. We have started an odd friendship, mostly based on our neuroses. Tiffany said she would give a letter from me to my estranged wife, Nikki, who has a restraining order against me. She has decided against it because she isnβt getting anything in return and doesnβt want me taking advantage of her. I asked her to think of something I can do and she proposed I enter a dance competition with her. I responded with an emphatic βnoβ and as a result, Tiffany said she wonβt deliver the letter.
Where am I? I am on street in my neighborhood near Tiffany's house.
Lines leading up to the monologue:
PAT: Tiffany, I'm not gonna do a dance with you.
TIFFANY: All right, then I'm not giving her your fucking letter.
TIFFANY WALKS AWAY.
PAT: Wait a second! But you promised you would do this.
TIFFANY TURNS
TIFFANY: Think about it.
TIFFANY TURNS AND WALKS.
PAT: Well, I already did do something for you, you know.
TIFFANY TURNS.
TIFFANY: WHAT DID YOU DO FOR ME?
PAT: I took care of that jerkoff that was in front of your house
TIFFANY: What? Jordie?
PAT Let me ask you something. Do you call him when you're lonely?
TIFFANY STOPS.
PAT (CONT'D) That encourages him, Tiffany. You shouldn't do it.
TIFFANY: Couldn't you say the same about you and Nikki?
Objective: I want to convince Tiffany to deliver my letter to Nikki as she promised. I need her to believe that our marriage isnβt completely lost and that I have done my part to fix things. If I can portray my and Nikkiβs love in a wa

Made me (I''m a guy btw) curious if Dirty Dancing was written by a woman, and yes it was. I was just much more believable. How do you feel about that movie?
#5 Shithouse(2020)

My Thoughts: A bit of Disclaimer, Iβm writing this about a month after watching this movie so itβs not fresh in my mind but Iβll do my best.
Shithouse is a microbudget coming-of-age romantic dramedy or at least thatβs how Iβd best describe it. It felt a little too real to try to put in a box like that. Itβs about Alex, a homesick college freshman whose struggling to have any kind of social life. He has an an annoying roommate whose doing all of the stereotypical college stuff because thatβs what the roommate thinks heβs supposed to do and Alex goes to parties that he doesnβt seem to have any idea what heβs doing there. This movie was incredibly relatable from when I was about 19 or 20 even though I didnβt go to college. I loved the situational awkward humor that carried this movie. The main plot thread follows Alexβs relationship with a girl he meets and ends up spending some time with. It doesnβt follow the usual Hollywood tropes which I appreciated, it felt very authentic and I donβt want to say too much more because this movie is something I think people should go in blindly to. My only real gripe with this movie was the epilogue/ending. It felt like it cheapened the message I thought the movie was trying to convey. Overall, I think itβs one of the best movies I saw from 2020 but thatβs not saying much because I only saw a couple new movies from last year with the theaters being closed.
Score: A-
#6 Silver Linings Playbook(2012)
Date Watched: March 6th 2022
My Thoughts: Silver Linings Playbook stars Bradley Cooper who plays a man with bipolar disorder who is fresh out of a mental institution and heβs on a mission to win back his wife(who has a restraining order against him) and prove heβs stable. He meets Jennifer Lawrenceβs character who is a widow with bipolar disorder. She ends up doing a favor for him and he tries to repay her by doing a dance with her for some competition. I thought the way mental illness was portrayed was accurate and done well. Both leads were phenomenal as was Robert DeNiro who play Bradley Cooperβs dad who probably had OCD. I loved the directorial style that David O. Russell brought to this, I don't think I've ever seen one of his movies but I really liked this. There was a nice balance of intense dramatic situations but they were balanced out with some sweet moments as well as some really funny ones. Overall, I thought Silver Linings Playbook was really good. I canβt th
