I know they say to not talk to an ex, especially one who was abusive, but I did. And I'm so fucking proud of myself for it.
My ex and I broke up a while ago, and he was very abusive in the relationship. He had a tendency to always try to find his way back into being with people, so today my roommate got a message from him asking how i was and if he could talk to me? and instead of running from it I said yes and faced it. I called him and we talked for a few hours and we discussed how things were going, and all that. And through all the talking I couldnt really keep up cus in my mind I just had to be honest. So I faced him and said that I dont wanna sit here and say all the things he did that hurt me, but that what he did DID really hurt me. It scared me, I was afraid to leave my house after breaking up with him. And that those are things that I shouldn't have to take. So I also said that while I understand deep down he never wanted to hurt me, he still did, and that in the future I don't want to be friends with him or anything like that, but that I DO forgive him. I forgave him fully and told him that he's released and that he can stop hating himself for what he did, so he can focus on not doing it to someone else. And we both forgave each other for anything, and said that were good, and left it on a good note with closure. I'm just so proud of myself for facing him, and making it known that there is responsibility he needs to take for his actions, but also allowing him and myself to sit with the fact that we can forgive each other and move on without hatred.

I’m really not doing well, and I needed to say it out loud to someone who is over the age of 3.
My family sucks. Although I can’t really put that on my boys (3yo & 1yo), they definitely make everything I do and sacrifice worth it. So I guess, my SO (father to all 3, and partner of 10+years) and daughter (7yo) suck. Those two are a team of hey mom, your a grumpy bitch and we want to make everything as hard as possible for you.
