A list of puns related to "Saquon Barkley"
Every year after his rookie year there have been posts like this. Here we are another year in and he is no way in the same league that we thought he would be in.
I donβt want to hear about injury concern, cam Akers is doing it and Derrick Henry played with a broken foot.
Letβs discuss at year 4, is saquon a bust?
Saquon was the consensus 1.01 in 1QB leagues and considered one of the greatest RB prospects of all time. His career has been marred by poor o-line and QB play as well as injuries.
Letβs take a year-by-year look.
2018:
24.1 PPG in 15 games played
RB3
2019:
18.6 PPG in 12 games played
RB12
2020:
7.7 PPG in 2 games played
RB114
2021:
10.9 PPG in 12 games played
RB32
His rookie campaign was sensational, and he probably won a lot of people their leagues. His sophomore year saw a dip in productivity as well as injuries that relegated him to an RB2, but still solid. Since then, heβs been in and out of the lineup and has been highly inefficient with low YPC, and the giants offense has been so anemic that his numbers arenβt getting salvaged by TDs.
So, is Saquon Barkley a fantasy bust?
Hey all, for those of you who are still in race for something this season, do you consider Barkley to be droppable given the fact that he's not been meeting expectations and next weeks matchup(@Chicago) does not seem to be attractive in terms of fantasy points?
Good luck this week y'all
I have always wondered if Giants had not drafted Barkley at number 2 , where do you think Barkley would have been drafted ? What team would have gotten him? Would he have still been top 10 or would have have gone mid first round?
I think we can all agree that he Barkley been a massive bust, and is trending downwards with Daniel Jones out for the season, and Devontae Booker stealing more and more touches, and probably being more effective on the ground. The question is, how much are we fading Saquon, and how far down the list of handcuff/waiver wire pickups we are willing to go to start someone over him?
Barkley is still averaging 5.5 targets per completed game, but was down to 55/59% snap percentages over the last two games. His ECR is currently RB16 in full PPR.
Who is the absolute worst player you are considering starting over him? Whether in the flex or at RB?
Granted, Saquon has missed a few games this year, but this is still a bad number for six games played, averaging about 37 rushing yards per game. Whether it's due to injuries catching up to him quickly, the Giants poor offensive line, poor playcalling, or a mixture of all three, Barkley has regressed since his glory years of 2018-2019.
Eventually, Barkley will look for a contract extension, but I don't think the Giants should give him one. At this point, he shouldn't be a part of their future plans, and should try to trade him to help with a re-build, even if they just get a 2nd or third in return. If Barkley does get a new contract, it won't be with the Giants.
Booker also has Saquon beat in basically every advanced stat, and you can't even use the bad O Line/QB/play calling excuse. Saquon still has his same bad running style of running east to west to try and hit home runs, but he simply does not have the speed/agility to do so anymore. There were at least three times in the Tampa game where Saquon had an opportunity for a long TD but got tackled from behind, whereas 2018 Saquon would have easily broken away. It will be very interesting to see what the Giants do with their 2018 1st round pick
For all of the bad takes that Simmonsβ gets roasted on, I rarely see this one mentioned anymore. I just think it deserves a little more love. We must cherish it and not take it for granted.
This season, according to the statistics, Devontae Booker was a slightly better RB than Saquon was.
Barkley | Booker | |
---|---|---|
Rush Attempts | 162 | 145 |
Rush Yards | 593 | 593 |
Yards/Att | 3.7 | 4.1 |
Rush TDs | 2 | 2 |
Fumbles | 2 | 0 |
Targets | 57 | 45 |
Catch % | 72% | 89% |
Receptions | 41 | 40 |
Rec Yds | 263 | 268 |
Yds/Rec | 6.4 | 6.7 |
Rec TDs | 2 | 1 |
Catch % | 72% | 89% |
Total Touches | 203 | 185 |
Total Scrimmage Yds | 856 | 861 |
Yards/Touch | 4.2 | 4.7 |
All of this isn't to say that Booker is a better player than Saquon, rather this suggests 3 things to me:
With the right coaching, play schemes, and blocking, let's hope Saquon can return to the player he was in the past.
I inherited an awful team in 2018 with the first overall pick and obviously chose Saquon. 2018 was great, but he hasnβt done shit for me since the 2nd half of 2019, and fucked me raw the past 2 seasons.
I donβt see the giants offensive line or QB situation magically improving in 2022, so i wouldnβt mind trading him if the price is right.
Itβs justβ¦ Iβm not sure what that price is.
The news all week has sounded like he's good to go, but with a Monday night game there's a level of risk that you could end up with a big zero if he doesn't play. Any thoughts?
