I've just finished a rewatch and Jez has insane game. He seems to be consistently sleeping with at least one fairly attractive woman all the time, a few of who are stunners (Elena, Nancy), all while being unemployed and having a pretty shit personality. Now I'm not saying Webb is ugly by any means, but if someone were to ask who's the most bang average British male I can think of, he'd be in with a good shout
I started watching fresh meat, really enjoying it & then I find out Robert Webb is in the show. What a treat!

Anyone here in the UK? Robert Webb (comedian) is on Strictly come dancing and he had his mitral valve op about 18 months ago. It's really inspiring to see him doing so well. I am happy for him.
Just thought it was worth a mention.
I finished the audio book earlier today which was performed/narrated by his old pal and Oscar winning actress Olivia Coleman (Peep Show’s Sophie) who does an excellent job. One of the best performed audiobooks I’ve ever heard.
It really well-written with some genuinely hilarious one-liners that only Webb could have come up with…at times I was imaging the immature teenage characters speaking like Jez etc .
Ultimately I found it quite an endearing and whimsical almost magical-realist fantasy story rather than a page-turning thriller though there is a major subplot involving a >!government conspiracy where lives are at risk!<.
I personally felt like by the end that the story >!should have ended differently!<…with less focus on >!the main female character’s alternate love interest!< and an anti-climactic, needless >!info-dump about why the seemingly impossible logistics of the final chase/action scene were possible.!<
Also if you’re a stickler for >!time-travel!< stories that make sense or are internally consistent/without >!paradoxes!< then you might be disappointed. It’s decidedly not a >!sci-fi!< narrative.
It’s such a well crafted personal story that by the end if it (MAJOR SPOILER) >!had turned out to just have been a dream all along I wouldn’t have minded.!<
Oh, there’s political commentary stuff in there too and some obvious jabs at >!Boris Johnson, Farage, Carl Benjamin/Sargon of Akkad!< amongst others
If you haven’t already I’d say it’s definitely worth your time.

I couldn't find anything on this, and not sure if it has been spoken about before. But I have just finished series 2 and I have a theory.
Andrew is Laurie back from the dead. My reasons for this are; Andrew seems to genuinely care about the pub and honestly doesn't seem to have a secret agenda through selling it or going to work at p:ub. When you unpick it, his work with Alison's parents is really just him looking after a couple in the winter of their years, giving them a chance to complete their bucket lists before the end of their lives, because he understands the value. In the first episode, his disregard for the passenger's death could be because he knows there is an afterlife (although this is clutching at straws). The show is called Back, as in he is back from the dead. The title music sounds ghostly!
At the end of the second series, after Ellen dies, a lady turns up at the grave in the same way that Andrew did at the death of Laurie.
Also, this might explain why "Lauries" and Stephen memories of the past are different to each other, with Laurie remembering things more happily and Stephen more grimly.
When you really look at it, it seems like everything Andrew is doing is really to try and push Stephen into bettering himself by putting him into a position to stand up for himself.
But of course, there are some things that don't fit such as seeing Andrew as a kid in some scenes, or the whole thing about the other young lad comes back to the pub and plays the piano (I forget his name) that Andrew seems to hate.
