A list of puns related to "Revolting Rhymes"
>I guess you think you know this story.
>You don't. The real one's much more gory.
>The phoney one, the one you know,
>Was cooked up years and years ago,
>And made to sound all soft and sappy
>just to keep the children happy.

Been looking all over for this Revolting Rhymes short film and the best way to view it. Turns out, it's on Netflix and what is nominated is it's "Part 1" or first episode. Could've saved so much time if I would have known this.
Now just looking for...Negative Space. If anyone has any leads, let me know, please! I saw that it may be available on UniFrance, but wasn't able to navigate the site very well. :/ Having fun with this death race.

I found a version online but it was not illustrated. I need the illustrated one, if possible. I want a retail PDF if available
I was a bit confused when I saw a PBS kids show on Netflix but gave it a try anyways. It was absolute magic. It not only captivated my young ones but me and my husband as well. It is a bit more violent than I had anticipated, much in the old Grimms Fairytales fashion. Some younger ones might be upset by beheadings(made into a joke) and graphic details of slaughtering someone. I recommend to watch it first and see if it’s suitable for your kids. You definitely DO NOT need kids to have an excuse to watch this. I highly recommend.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samaritan_revoltsWe're all aware that the Jewish population of Judea was crushed and exiled by the Roman Empire after a series of three great Jewish revolts, which ultimately resulted in the destruction of the Temple at mount Moriah, the end of the era of the second temple and the scattering of the Jews.Until yesterday, I had no idea that some 500 years later, our close cousins the Samaritans engaged in a series of 3 great samaritan revolts against the Eastern Roman Byzantine Empire, which ultimately resulted in the destruction of the center of worship at Mount Gerizim and the establishment of a christian church in its place.
It strikes me as such an eerie example of the divine cosmic rhyme of history that 500 years after the the 3 hard fought revolts against the Roman Empire came to an end, the members of the 'alternative' version of the Hebrew religion engaged in a series of 3 revolts against the 'alternative' version of the Roman Empire and were met with similar results.
On a positive note. The Romans are gone. The Byzantines are also gone. The Jewish people remain, as do the Samaritans.

“In the interest of distracting myself, do you mind if I ask a few questions?” Keira asked. She was looking a little better than before, but in the way that sticking a band-aid on a cut made it better. Rip the band-aid off too quickly and you would expose the wound to the elements again.
“Of course,” Rob answered. “What do you want to know?” He would have told her everything from his birthday to his Social Security Number even if she hadn’t been in need of cheering up. This was the first – and maybe only – chance he had at gaining the long-desired Open Communication and Understanding status effect. He wasn’t going to let it slip by.
“Well...I’d like to know many things, honestly, but won’t be able to concentrate on more important subjects until my curiosity is satiated. With that said: why aren’t you wearing a shirt?”
Rob had honestly forgotten he wasn’t. “Wolves tore it up. Been using it as a makeshift carrying pouch ever since.”
“That’s what the bloody sack left behind at the entrance of the dungeon was?” Keira gagged slightly. “I wasn’t sure what to make of that. Certainly put me on edge. Thought it might be full off, I don’t know, severed heads?”
“You...have a very active imagination. No heads, just...ugh...berries. The non-poisonous kinds.”
She tapped her chin with a perfectly-manicured finger. “Your tone implies that you partook of the Rafa berries. Odd oblong shape, tastes of citrus, tendency to eat through your insides?”
Now I can put a name to the face of the enemy, Rob thought. “Yes, those. I’m sad to say they didn’t settle well. At least I got a Skill out of it.”
Keira giggled. “You must be new here. That’s one of the first things I was taught growing up.” She cleared her throat and sang like a mother would recite a nursery rhyme to their child: “The Rafa are tasty, but don’t be fooled; a minute of pleasure precedes a day of pain. Hmm. Something is lost in translation from Elvish to Common, I think. It’s more effective when it rhymes.”
So people here can speak English, they just call it Common? Suspiciously convenient, but not even in the Top 10 strangest developments I’ve had to accept as of late. “Actually, you’re correct in assuming I’m new here,” Rob said. “As new as I can possibly be. Any advice or information you can give would mean the world to me.”
Keira considered his request for a few moments. “I’m

... keep reading on reddit ➡So I recently finished watching the last episode of season 2, and I wanted to write a review of sorts from the perspective of a non-manga reader that is based more on the show itself, without too much consideration for any excluded content from the manga (not to discount the griefs of any manga readers, I just want to judge the show based on it’s own merits). Fair warning—this will probably be long, and while I will be critical of the show, this will not be a purely ‘Season 2 bad’ post like many I’ve seen. Anyway, I’ll go through each episode, providing a brief synopsis and my thoughts. Starting with...
Episodes 1-2 Not much to say on the first two episodes—they were unproblematic, especially compared to the rest of the season—we’re introduced to the new world, which was genuinely interesting—but also shown to not be without danger. Tension returns with the kids being pursued by both wild demons and those from Grace Field. The show does a great job demonstrating that their escape was not without consequence, and that they are in a foreign, hostile world. Of course, I must also mention Sonju and Mujika—a great subversion to the built-up expectation that all demons are evil, and through them we learn interesting exposition about the world and how the farms came to be—most importantly, that there is a human world, giving the kids a new purpose and goal—to reach that it. After some wholesome moments between everyone, we get a fantastic, solemn scene where Emma learns to hunt, and about the practice of Gupna—giving interesting lore about demon practices, as well as great development to Emma’s character. Overall—an enjoyable, unproblematic introduction to the new world and season as a whole.
Episode 3 This episode was also decent—it’s here where the kids part with Sonju and Mujika to reach the bunker. (Side note—the reveal of Sonju’s true intentions was odd, and nothing seems to come of this, so I don’t really get the point, but whatever) After they reach the bunker, most of the episode is comprised of what is a nice break from the tension of previous episodes as everyone settles in. It was genuinely cool seeing them actually find a full-fledged bunker, and beginning to be self-sustainable. Another thing I enjoyed was that, even with the joyful mood throughout, an ominous tone grows throughout the episode as the kids explore more of the bunker. It’s a great contrast. The episode ends with the discovery of a disturbing message—showing the bunker may not be as

I’ve read a lot of the posts here, and there have been a lot of great ideas. Note that much of the below comes from many of the excellent ideas I’ve read in earlier posts, but this is how I’ve tried to group it all together. I’ve decided to go in the following direction.
If you have any advice or recommendations to make this work better, it's all welcome.
Mythical Background:
· Aeons ago, a political struggle in Hell lead to the imprisonment of the archdevil Leviathan. This is largely a reflavored Levistus – I base myself on the description in https://www.dropbox.com/s/54vgy5s9ypeyh5g/TGoH9.pdf. Asmodeus imprisoned Leviathan by placing obelisks on the polar regions of multiple planes. On Toril, that was on Icewind Dale.
· These obelisks were disturbed by Netherese experiments, which caused Ythryn to crash. The disruption also tore a gate from the Prime Material Plane to the Nine Hells, although that rift is far from completely open. This gate is located right near the crashed city of Ythryn, and it opens up immediately onto Leviathan’s icy prison.
· Leviathan has since been reaching out of his prison, eager to escape. He does so by infusing pieces of ice with his will – as such, it becomes black ice, also known as chardalyn. He cannot predict exactly how the ice will impact creatures – in fact, many of them are becoming mad. But he’ll make use of mad vessels just as he will make use of sane ones.
· Leviathan is seeking to escape.
· Asmodeus, who further will have nothing to do with this adventure, does not want Leviathan to escape. However, he likes the fact that Leviathan is corrupting quite a bunch of souls into hell during his escape attempts. He seeded sufficient information throughout the Dale to reveal his presence.
· Auril has picked up on this. She fears many things: if Leviathan were released on the Prime Material Plane, she would be supplanted as a power. She would risk retribution from other deities. She would risk her followers. She would risk the beauty of Ythyl, but more generally, beauty of all of Icewind Dale. In short, this is, for Auril, an existential threat. She will do anything to keep Leviathan buried.
Historical Background:
· 50 years ago, Vaelish Gant’s mother discovered that Ythryn was located in Icewind Dale, but perished without being able

Mum always loved to wear sarongs (fabric wraps that go around the torso and drape downward a bit like a long skirt would), so my uncle suggested that she wear a sarong in there.
The funeral director looked a bit confused, as did some of our family members, to which my uncle added:
"What's sarong with that?"
I started laughing like an idiot. He was proud of it too. The funeral director was rather shocked. We assured her, and our more proper relatives, that Mum would've absolutely loved the joke (which is very true).
His delivery was perfect. I'll never forget the risk he took. We sometimes recall the moment as a way help cushion the blows of the grieving process.

This is a short story I wrote following the spirit and style of Gene Wolfe. Of course, a comparison is more like spitting at the sky, rather this is somewhere between a rip-off and motivation.

The Days of the Gray Skies
That is a small tortoise. Or, is it a turtle? Didn’t the scriptures from Naumachia make such a prediction? Lernilo had told her,
“A thick shelled meek one will show the way.The black fox will do away with the gray skies.”
Cryptic writings from yellowed and decaying papyrus. Did it really show the way to her destiny? Away from this world which has lacked in both color and in spirit? And, no animals – until now. Dressed in a black garb is she the black fox? Thoughtfully she looks up, only to find the sun straight up above her head.

A time ago, she was very ill. And, then one day she got well and daringly flew out of her room. It was as if a wizard with a long silvery beard and a pointy hat from a distant fairyland had waved his magic wand and conjured up the impossible. She fancied herself with a ‘big W’ on her bright red shirt teamed with a yellow cape. She flew away far until the houses down below looked like toys. She joyfully rode the wind, and smiled to herself. Often across the clouds she would hear the name ‘VANESSA’ being whispered into her ears. Who is Vanessa?
She was someone else, no more the girl on the bed who just would not get well. She did not wish to come back to home, and maybe she was not supposed to. She played with the clouds and chased the birds. She waved to an airplane and giggled at the passengers staring at her from the tiny windows. A little later she yelled at the top of her voice, “Hey there mister!” startling a high flying rider on his glider. She wished to see a hot-air balloon but there were none. And then, almost suddenly, a tear in the sky made her tumble in the clouds and reach Rhyfeddod.
At first it looked like a poorly made pencil sketch and then as she came closer to the surface she started to see more of it. Piroja clear ocean, gray skies, and a yellow sandy beach. Three colors broadly dictated the settings – blue, yellow and gray. But, it seemed that the blue and the yellow were shaded out from the parent gray, than as distinct colors. She descended down to the beach with some inkling that she is in a new world. She looked back at herself, and she fou

I started a “Best of 2020” list. Then, I started over. I scrapped it. Started again. I looked through my books, ran my fingers down their spines, and tried once more. I threw together a spreadsheet from Goodreads, sorted it by date, then by rating, then by author. Deleted it in frustration when the books didn’t feel the way I needed them to.
I couldn’t do it.
For far too much of 2020, I existed not as a person, but as a hollow shell filled to the brim with grey, sloshing anxiety. Partially due to the pandemic, and partially due to challenges that had begun rearing their heads even prior to lockdown. Once the city locked down, however, all those issues became exponentially worse. At the end of the day, I can’t help but feel that “best” doesn’t have much meaning when you’re stuck in a small studio apartment for days on end, listening to the endless sirens outside, watching the world collapse around you. I stopped attending my favorite book clubs, even when they moved online. Slowly, my world became smaller and smaller. I read for comfort until I couldn’t. Things that didn’t require me to think much were helpful. Anything that could let me disassociate and remove myself from reality or complex thought. After a while, I found myself turning to webtoons, comics I could scroll through infinitely on my phone while cringing away from my computer and the world at large.
Eventually, I could read again. Sporadically, in spurts, and often outside my usual habits. I read fluffy romances and reread old favorites. It was even longer before I was able to start actually reviewing again, and I still have quite a ways to go before catching up on all the NetGalley ARCs I’ve still got sitting from that period of stagnation.
It’s still hard to reach out and be social in a way that I know is good for me, but it’s a process. Each new development (pandemic news, attempted coups, etc) sets me a step back, but I take steps forward when and how I am able – and that’s what matters most.
These are a few of the books and comics that helped me keep going.

This is an expanded replacement for an older post, as a major part of the original has been contradicted by canon, and canon has provided new twists on old ideas.
In this post, I'll be exploring the possibility of independent nations along the feet of Vacuo's mountains, the coasts of Vacuo's ocean shores, other oases within the desert, the territories around Vacuo City, and finally the lively green territory in the northwest corner of the continent.
I welcome constructive criticism for the purpose of making these ideas more accurate to reality, as I fully acknowledge the limits of my knowledge regarding geography and anthropology. Until the day this post is archived or locked, I consider it a living document.
To Vale and Mistral, the word “wilderness” conjures images of untamed forests. To Atlas, it means the frozen, snowy tundra. But to most Vacuans, “wilderness” means the absence of water, because as a rule Vacuans do not allow sources of water in Western Sanus to remain unsettled.
Indeed, fewer Vacuans die from dehydration than from the flashfloods that result from Western Sanus’ occasional rainstorms. Children grow up learning how to avoid dying of thirst, but flashfloods strike too infrequently and too violently for practice or much dedicated preparation. Vacuans also have no choice but to live in the places where flashfloods happen, because they must live wherever water travels.
The mountain ranges to the east and west of the desert cause its arid climate, as they block most rainstorms coming from those directions and leave little precipitation for the lowland between them.
But the water that collects on the other sides of the mountains can also flow around the peaks and down towards the desert, allowing for cities to grow up in the foothills, with plenty of fertilized land for raising livestock and crops.
Flash-flooding occurs when unusually strong winds blow rainclouds over the mountain ranges, causing desert-ward rivers to overflow their banks, and forming additional, spontaneous rivers wherever water finds a path to rampage.
Mountains: Mines and Dams
Naturally, cities close to the mountains will mine them for Dust and other sundry metals and minerals, providing them potential surpluses to trade to the other corners of the country, and even other countries.
It would also make them tempting targets for pillage i
