A list of puns related to "Quartic function"
Hi guys, could someone please explain to me why x=2 is an oblique point of inflection. Thanks :)
Hey guys, thanks so much to u/deschan2021 for adding me, ur a legend.
Could someone pls explain to me why @ x=4 is a horizontal point of inflection. Thanks!
Could someone also pls explain to me why at x=2 is an oblique point of inflection, thanks!

Hello all, this is the question I am having trouble with:
A quartic function f has the rule f(x)=ax^4 + bx^3 + cx^2 + dx. The graph has a stationary point at (1,1) and passes through the point (-1,4).
Find a, b and c in terms of d.
I'm pretty sure I have to use systems of equations, but I can only think of two equations to use and there is 3 variable I need to find.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks :).
For what values of k does the equation 2x^3 βx^4 = k have real solutions?
I have this table of values X Y 0 1.8 .5 1.49 1 1.22 1.5 1 2 0.83 2.5 0.7 3 0.61 3.5 0.55 4 0.52 4.5 0.53 5 0.56 5.5 0.615 6 0.695 6.5 0.794 7 0.909 7.5 1.03 8 1.139 8.5 1.204 9 1.204 I have already found the quartic function using regression: f(x)= -0.000558495x^4+0.0044416x^3+0.0678887x^2-0.625792x+1.78778 But i need to prove the function is correct algebraically how do I do this? Is there a way I can find the function from the table of values or a way I can prove the A,B,C,D and E values are correct? I need help with this big time Thanks in advance
Assuming that there is a double root at x=β2, it means that one of the factor is (x+2)^2, but how do I find the other factor? Thanks
Hello math gods of reddit. I currently have a maths assignment which involves the calculation of the function of the coca cola ribbon logo. http://imgur.com/wC5kuLB . Please help or please give direction to the mathematical reasoning to how to find the curve of an unknown function. ACTUAL QUESTION: Consider the best mathematical models to represent the coca cola ribbon design
y=x^4 - 5x^3 +9x^2 -15x -18
I am tasked with graphing this quartic, but cannot seem to find the roots? I tried synthetic with factors of 18, but it didn't work out.
I'm using java, but I could switch to C/C++ if it matters.
I'm just starting, and I can make cubes and pyramid shapes, using glBegin and glVertex2f. If I know polynomial expressions for curved surfaces, is there a built-in function that can break them into a mesh or grid? If I need to write my own function, what functions would be useful inside that function?
Thanks in advance. I don't want to spend hours either doing it the wrong way, or reinventing the wheel.

The question asks for a zero at origin and a positive y-intercept.
Wouldn't this result in an x value having multiple outputs, thus making it not a function?
So I've been going over a review test and I'm confused on one problem.
I have to find the zeros and multiplicity of the zeros of this quartic function and I think I'm overthinking it. This is the equation:
f(x)=x^4 -25x^2 + 144
Now, the answer for it is x= (+-)4 with multiplicity of 1 and x=(+-)3, multiplicity of 1.
I'm confused on how to arrive at that answer. I might just be burnt out or missing something completely obvious but any help you guys can give me would be amazing!
Thank you to picado for teaching me that x^2 = u
Hey,
I am trying to find a function with these points: (0, 46.492) (0.0508, 35.602), (0.2540, 23.668), (0.6096, 12.298), (0.8636, 5.77), (1.107, 0)
I was using this site to help me understand how to do this, but I kept getting stuck on how they are finding the system of equations.
Any help would be awesome!
ex: y= -x^4 + 3x^3 + 34x^2 + 48x
Why is finding the roots or solutions to any function so important? Moreover why work on solving something equal to zero?
Why do mathematicians go to such great lengths to find the zeroβs(solutions) of polynomials like creating the quadratic formula, or worse: the quartic formula.
Edit: spelling
I am writing a math paper for school and in one portion I have two sets of data and I need to calculate the polynomial regression for the data. Using online resources, I discovered that quartic regression would be the best in order to model the data.
How would I go about calculating the quartic regression manually? Using a GDC it's quite easy to do with the QuartReg() function, but I have to calculate it manually at least once to prove that I understand how it works.
How would I do this?
HELP!
Determine an equation for f(x) that satisfies the following conditions:
f(x) is a quartic function
f(x) < 0 when 2 < x < 7
f(x) >= 0 when x <= 2 or x >= 7
f(x) has a turning point at (-3, 0)
f(1) =24
Do your worst!
It really does, I swear!
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
Do we have access to Desmoβs to make our graphs and check things like range of quartic functions? Also will I have enough time to input all my answers into the equation editor?
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
I have a survey with 2 input variables and an output. I want to test out various degrees for the function and see which one has the highest r2 value (i.e. maybe it's a multivariable input cubic function or maybe it's multivariable linear.)
Unfortunately, I can't find any calculators to do this online (except for multivariable linear, but I want to test it for other degrees including quartic) Could someone help? What's the formula for multivariable cubic/quadratic regression? I could possibly solve it myself then.
Thank you so much for whoever takes the time out to help :)

I know it may look like a quadratic which i can figure out but the answer must be done by using either cubics or quartic functions.
