A list of puns related to "Public holidays in Canada"
I am just curious about your view on this. I lived in a country with much more public holidays and noticed the positive impact of this on people's lives: seems like they bond with family more, have more hobbies, and get to travel a bit more. Why would you not want to have more holidays?
Why do we have the least amount of public holidays in Canada?
I had been under the impression that we had at least an average amount of public holidays in Quebec, however in looking at the following link (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_holidays_in_Canada), I realized that we actually have the fewest in Canada. Some other points to note:
We have 8 public holidays and the average is around 10.1667.
In England for example the fixed date bank holidays (Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year) get postponed: eg the Christmas and Boxing Day holidays last year were on 27th and 28th December.
In Czechia on the order hand I believe this isnβt the case, and this year 5 out of the 13 public holidays will fall on a weekend.
Itβs a genuine issue for people with decreased mobility not to be able to use the handrail to hold on when using stairs in pubs, restaurants and shops. Even preschoolers struggle if they donβt have something to hold on to.
As a non-boring American, I sincerely wish the day after Halloween was a day off. As it is, we have to wait for it to fall on a Friday or a Saturday for us to enjoy Halloween to its full potential.
It would make the observant Catholics happy, as the day after is November 1st.
The rest of us could sleep it off!
What about in your country?
Like fathers day, easter, mothers day etc
I started the contract the week before christmas, training finished on christmas eve, then shift started on Mon 27th, with the work week as Thurs-Mon, and contracted until Feb. Should I expect to get the day-in-lieu for working the public holidays? I got paid the time and a half, but temp agency says no day in lieu even though it was a day I would normally work?
I am a freelancer based in the UK. I am Canadian, but I live in the UK and I am tax resident in the UK. My clients are in Europe. I am planning to stay in Canada a few months per year (up to 4 months) to see my family.
Since my freelance work is 100% remote, can I work from Canada for my European clients whilst being on holiday in Canada without having to pay taxes in Canada? I would be staying in the province Quebec, does it change anything regarding my question?
At the border, do I need to declare that I am in Canada for work or for holiday as the main reason of my trip is to see my family?
