A list of puns related to "Professional liability insurance"
Hoping to get some basic insight on professional liability insurance. I am a licensed Civil Engineer in California but I am switching over to a role with a local development company so Iβll no longer be under my civil firmβs umbrella. Even though Iβm switching to the development side of things, a friend of mine needs a civil engineer for a small site development project (building 4 detached townhomes on a 0.15 acre lot). Design scope would be limited to site grading/drainage and sewer/water services. Pretty basic but I donβt want to underestimate my risk exposure. I would also be an investor in this project and am helping him develop it/get permits/ manage consultants/ etc.
Iβve done quite a few projects in this exact area and am not concerned that the design will be beyond my abilities, but Iβm wondering if anyone has insight on what my risk exposure truly is on a small project like this and whether itβs even worth trying to do the civil work myself. This is probably the only project Iβll do on the side this year and Iβm not sure a) what level of liability insurance I need ($$) or b) how long I need coverage for (..10 years?..forever?).
If the answer is βyou need insurance that will cost $10k per year and need to carry insurance for 10 years just for this projectβ then itβs probably not worth it lol.
Any insight is appreciated!
I hope this question is allowed on this sub. We were told that Professional Liability Insurance has doubled in cost this year (with no explanation. It was implied that this is true throughout the industry.)
I'm looking into whether this is true or it's just what a particular carrier is telling me for some reason. If it's true, I'm wondering what the reason is.
Just curious if professional liability insurance is something recommended to have for retail pharmacists? Any retail pharmacists buy your own professional liability insurance? Or do you rely on the one that the company provides? Iβve heard Proliability through ASHP and Pharmacist Mutual through my school. What do you guys use and what are the benefits that make you choose it?
I'm a independent contractor, with professional liability insurance, is it normal for a company that you are providing services for, to want to be named as additional insured on that policy?
Hello all, first time poster.
My wife has a work opportunity overseas and I would like to take my business remote and move with her and travel and do the digital nomad thing.
BUT!
Iβm having so much trouble finding a company to provide liability and indemnity insurance as my business will be in one country and I will be living in another!
What insurers do you recommend? How did you get around this problem?
Thank you.
Hi everyone,
I am starting my own consulting business and do some bookkeeping, financial modelling (no tax filing) and was wondering if anyone has experience with getting professional liability insurance
I am from Canada, and have clients in US and Canada, any experience you can share, or insurance companies you dealt with
Worst case scenario is paying insurance premium all the years, and when shit hits the fan, nothing is covered, so I wanted to do some research on who to go with
TIA
I have been spending the last month hitting and missing. Hiscox and the like all have looked pretty rough review-wise that I have been able to find. My local broker referred me to someone who wound up not being able to do it and then referred me to yet another person...who won't reach back out to me. I'm not, I don't think, asking for anything insane. I just need some general-PL for doing some work remotely with a university. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Hi all - I am a new grad who recently accepted an offer at an outpatient pediatric clinic. I am required to carry professional liability insurance (PLI). Does anyone have any recommendations on who is best to go through?
Thanks in advance! :)
Iβm having a hard time figuring out if this is something I actually need. When I look it up, all the content on the insurance sites tell me that I definitely doβ¦but they would say that, wouldnβt they?
I write web copy and content. I have a contract I use with all (non-Upwork) clients that specifies ownership and responsibility of the work completely transfers to the client upon payment. Although, I only added this clause recently so I do have some existing clients where our contract doesnβt specifically spell this out.
It looks like this insurance will run me around $50 a month, which is a fairly major expense for me. Is it overkill? Or do I need it? If I donβt get it, should I start specifying my indemnity policy to Upwork clients and make my existing clients sign an updated contract? I feel like insurance content writers have gotten in my head about the risk of losing all my money to a lawsuit!
I have an LLC that provides custom programming services related to the buying and selling of financial securities including stocks, currencies, and cryptocurrencies.
I called The Hartford, Progressive, and Hiscox who all politely turned me down.
I have some big clients that I'm about to take on but I don't feel comfortable doing so without this insurance.
Anyone have any experience getting this kind of coverage who can offer advice?
I guess I'll try Travelers in the meantime.
Hi All!
PA State Certified School Nurse here. Last year, I elected to purchase professional liability insurance through Nurses Service Organization (NSO) for around $100. It's time for renewal, and I'm questioning the need for the NSO insurance after learning that my Union provides me with some as a member benefit.
Details of the NSO coverage can be found here. Essentially $1million per claim and $6 million annual aggregate.
Details of the Union provided NEA coverage can be found here. This one is $1million per claim and $3 million annual aggregate for educators liability, and $3million per claim and $9million annual aggregate for legal defense cost limits.
Just by comparing the two, I'm thinking that the NSO plan is more comprehensive. For example, I see things like medical charges and HIPPA specifically mentioned, whereas they are both absent from the NEA details. Also, the NSO plan mentions this in regards to a provided defense attorney:
>With your own individual coverage, youβll have your own defense attorney designated by the insurer to represent you in court, when necessary. Legal fees will be paid for covered claims, in addition to your liability limitsβWIN OR LOSE.
The NEA plan offers $35k, and only if you're exonerated:
> Reimbursement for attorney fees and other legal costs up to $35,000 if the member is charged with violating a criminal statute in the course of their educational employment activities, and they are exonerated from charges other than corporal punishment. Defense against corporal punishment does not require exoneration to obtain legal defense coverage under the policy.
So, I think it might be worth it to just pay the ~$100 for NSO insurance for the piece of mind. But, I wanted to get a second opinion as I struggle to make sense of some of these details and the plan comparisons. I'm hoping someone might be able to tell me why my union provided NEA insurance is fine, or why it's not and you'd recommend the NSO (or some other) insurance.
Thanks!
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to know more about professional liability insurance. Do you recommend getting liability insurance. Do you personally have professional liability insurance? Does it make a difference to obtain insurance for a specific specialty? What are some good insurance vendors? What coverage recommendations would you give of areas nurses might overlook?
Thank you
Hi everyone,
I have an opportunity to be a fully independent remote consultant for an American digital healthcare company. I have done a lot of this work in the past and have recently returned home to Australia after two years living in the United States. I work in the management consulting / digital design realm and I am trying to find a quote for professional indemnity and public liability insurance that will cover my US engagement from Australia. It's very difficult to find a policy that provides coverage over both of jurisdictions. If you have any insights or recommendations it will be much appreciated!
Thank you.
I am a second-year school SLP and have been pressured to join the teacherβs Union for the sake of protection in the event of a due process case. I currently have personal professional liability insurance (through ASHA- $60 per year) which I have never needed to use, but has been nice to know I have in the event something comes up. I am reluctant to join the union solely because it is almost $1000 per year and for me, money is already pretty tight. Has anyone been in a situation where they have been involved in a due process case and NOT been in the teacherβs union? Is the personal liability insurance even helpful in these situations? New to all of this so thank you in advance for any input!
Context: it's my first time getting a contract/freelance job of mentoring and teaching bootcamp students at a major IT professional company. The contract suggests that I should get a professional errors and omissions insurance but I don't really know if i should get it? I would need to pay additional money out of pocket for it. Just curious if it's common among freelancers to have that insurance.
Thank you in advance
So in grad school they made us sign up for professional liability insurance and I was wondering if I should continue to keep renewing. Thanks!
Does anybody have experience with NOW insurance? I need to increase my limits for a new job and donβt have active Academy membership so I canβt stay with proliability. They are offering significantly lower rates than proliability and Iβm wondering if itβs legit or not?
Hello, all! I am relatively new to being an esthetician. The spa in which I am in the process of getting into wants me to get professional liability insurance. Are there any insurance companies that any of you would suggest? Price isnβt too big of an issue, Iβm more concerned with the value of coverage I would receive. Thanks!
Hello. Iβm not sure if I should ask for help about my issue from here in this group but please let me post about this.
I ( Japanese and 32 f ) am planning to apply my marriage visa in US. To make things easier and smooth, we decided to ask the attorney to help doing this process. (my husband is American citizen) they sent the contract about the agreement of their fee, and we went through everything then I found out that they donβt have β professional liability insurance β which made me feel a bit worried to keep moving.
So we asked them about it by email, what they responded is βin California, attorneys are not legally required to carry a malpractice insurance plan but are required to disclose to clients whether the attorneys have an insurance plan. That's why that clause is there.β
Does this seem safe?? Is there anyone who is familiar with this?
Hi everyone! I'm a recent MSW grad and have started working as an outpatient therapist at a group private practice. I have professional liability insurance through my employer ($1mil per claim, $3mil aggregate), but I also want to get personal coverage for myself just to be extra safe! I'm planning on getting it through NASW and I'm wondering how much I should get? The automatic/most affordable option is the same as my other insurance: $1mil per claim, $3mil aggregate. Is this enough? Should I get more? I'm of course under supervision from an LCSW if that makes a difference. Additionally, the premium was only $34... is that normal? Everything about insurance is very confusing to me, so if anyone could offer advice I'd really appreciate it!
Does anyone know an insurance company that sells Professional Liability Insurance and accepts Discover card payments?
