A list of puns related to "Preview (macOS)"
Hello r/apple! My name is Sergey, I'm an apple indie dev.
I have made many applications and often my clients have asked if they have the capabilities that ActiveDock provides on the Apple Dock. I decided to implement DockView. Perhaps you will find this little utility useful.
If so, is it accessible to the public or just paid devs? Get it through TestFlight?

Hi,
As my title is saying, does such a tool exist? I am currently using ranger file browser and I am open to migrating to another file browser if image preview works.
Thanks :D
As title suggested, I need a simple to use but functional PDF viewer for Windows. Preview was doing all the stuff I need when I as on Mac, like putting text boxes around, highlighting, drawing etc. but I can't put simple colorful text boxes, drawing hand-written arrows etc even though I can highlight almost in every PDF viewer.
So I need a preview-like PDF viewer for Windows.
I'm new to Mac os , I watched WWDC this year and was wondering if it's possible to install a beta for the new safari rather than installing macos 12 itself?
From the README:
>macOS Preview sometimes 'forgets' about annotations that were added to a PDF file. This can be particularly frustrating after providing feedback on a draft for many hours, just to loose the precious annotations when closing and re-opening the file.
>
>This tool attempts to fix the annotations based on a technique described by 'thorimur'.
I wrote this little tool in Rust this morning and am just super stocked at how Rust let's me write a tool like this in a couple an hour or two <3.
Here are the reasons why I like it so much:
Thanks to the whole community for making little things like this such a pleasure :) Cheers!
Not sure if there is a fix, but I canβt see thumbnails for my video clips, and Iβm unable to press spacebar to quick preview the video files.
Would it be a QuickTime codec that would allow you to do this?
Iβve tried searching online to no result.
A small squircle shape can be seen at the bottom left corner of the selected tab in the 'Preferences' window of Preview. I guess this is a bug.
It's appearing for all the three tabs- 'General' , 'Images', and 'PDF'
Edit: Added a screenshot.

Iβm a photographer/videographer and just swapped out my windows laptop with a MacBook (intel i9). So far so goodβperforms as well as my previous laptop although the display is much much prettier! I still use a PC for my main editing/rendering machine but I love being able to use airdrop when Iβm on the road to move pictures and video clips between my laptop, phone and iPad.
Anyway, I use uncompressed formats for photos (.arw or .dng, depending on the camera) and edit in photoshop. All my camerasβ¦at least the ones I use 99 percent of the timeβ¦shoot video in mp4 format.
I use VLC player for quickly scanning video files (I like its many customizable shortcut and playback options and the ease of capturing a single frame). My new MacBook on the other hand is hell bent on me using Apple TV to playback files and preview to open raw files. *I keep setting VLC as the default media player and Photoshop as the default for .arw photos, but it keeps changing it back to Apple TV/Preview. It even removed VLC from available apps for videos and I had to search for it to open a file.
For some reason, it kept photoshop as the default for opening .dng photos but keeps switching back to Preview for the .arw photos. Most photos I take are in .arw so this is kind of annoying.
Question: How do I get my default options to stick? I know how to open with the specific app I need through the context menu but I donβt want to have to do this every time.
The title says it all.
If you run your EVE on MacOS or Windows then you can safely ignore all the text below.
First of all, a picture to attract your attention:

The Linux support is a bit rough, still it is better than none at all. So here's what you need to get it up and running, my dear Linux users:
Install .NET 4.8 via winetricks
Install this tool: wmctrl
This is a Linux tool, not Wine, so it needs to be installed via apt-get or other package manager you Linux uses
Install this EVE-O Preview build: https://github.com/Phrynohyas/eve-o-preview/releases/tag/5.2.0-beta
Start it once and close
Open its config file ('EVE-O Preview.json') and edit there this line
"WineCompatibilityMode": false,
to
"WineCompatibilityMode": true,
Save the config file
Enjoy the life
Notes (important ones)
Several things won't work:
* Client switch hotkeys
* Client window position tracking
This is a PITA related to Wine sandbox limitations
Ant it might crash. In this case I'll need a crashlog
Sometimes it stops to work (cite: 'it can work for 10 hours one day and won't start the next day'). In that case I would need the config file and steps to reproduce.
Previews are updated once per second. Wine has no internals to actually make a real live preview like on Windows. Meh
Fly safe!

Hey!
For the last almost four years, Iβve been developing a writing productivity app called WriteMapper, which aims to help you turn ideas into text documents using mind maps. I designed it to be simple and approachable, yet comprehensive and feature-rich. In brief, itβll help you:

Iβve been adding features, improvements and refinements to the app over the past 3+ years since originally launching the first Mac app, which I posted a few years back here on r/Apple (that received a response Iβm still to this day really grateful to this community for). I recently launched a big update to the app, WriteMapper 3, which was well-received over at r/macapps. The version 3 update contains a bunch of new features and improvements, including support for M1 / Apple Silicon Macs!
So, who is WriteMapper for, who uses this? Well, itβs best used for any sort of longer-form writing that requires some structuring to help make better sense of. Some applications Iβve come to hear about from users of the app include:
Beyond that, I definitely also want to port this over to iPadOS some time in the future, like I previously did with the older version 2 of the app. However, from my experience it is rather involved work and will require a non-trivial amount of time for me to develop to make that happen, so youβll have to stay tuned for that for now.
During the past years Iβve been working on WriteM
