Workplaces that adopted COVID-19 prevention measures, such as daily health checks and encouraging sick workers to stay home, resulted in less β€œsickness presenteeism” or going places when feeling ill. Fewer employees with COVID-19 symptoms showed up to work and other public places like restaurants. news.wsu.edu/2021/05/19/w…

[Academic] The Effect of Organizational Climate on Presenteeism as Moderated by Employee Personality (anyone employed in UK or the Netherlands)

Hi, as a part of my doctoral studies, I am conducting a study to better understand why employees come to work when they are ill when they have legitimate reasons to take the time off. As you can imagine, coming to work (or working from home) when ill poses risks to the wellbeing of the employee, their colleagues, but also to the overall productivity of the organisation. I am hoping that my research will help organisations come up with better policies for managing sick leave.

If you are interested in participating in the study, please click this link where you will find the survey. Before you start the survey, you will find all the relevant information about how your identity and privacy are protected, a consent form and complete instructions on how to complete the survey.

Please help by responding as I am about half way to my needed sample of 131 participants!!!

Presenteeism vs Productivity - BBC Worklife article

https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20210604-why-presenteeism-always-wins-out-over-productivity

An interesting article that dives into some of the issues plaguing modern office work attitudes, how the pandemic affected them and what might be done to fix it.
