A list of puns related to "Porosity"
I know the low porosity line got discontinued but I remember trying out their shampoos from the Manuka Honey line (brown one) and Jamaican Castor oil shampoo as well. The conditioners from the same lines made my hair feel dry and weighed down just like the shampoos since the oils and butters are extremely high on the ingredient list which is horrible for low porosity hair. My hair feels a lot more moisturized with the Kinky Curly products since they don't have a ton of oils and butters like Shea Moisture.
Why do they blindly recomend products for everyone randomly?
They dont explain stuff like slip, detangling capacity of a conditioner, type of ways to apply conditioners.
Iβm having some trouble figuring my porosity.
Iβve done the water test I broke the surface tension and one part of the hair sunk and the other end floated.
My hair is almost always frizzy but it takes hours to dry.
Please share. Anthing - shampoo , conditioner, hair masks, hair color.
Iβm using Aussie Instant freeze atm hoping to find glycerine free alternative..
Iβve been looking at lists for products that are good for low porosity hair, but then theyβll have ingredients that arenβt suggested for low porosity hair like coconut oil, olive oil, and a lot of protein. Itβs so frustrating because Iβm not sure what to believe. Iβm trying to stay within a price range too, so Iβll finally find a product with a good price and then Iβll second guess myself. Does anyone have any advice?? I found a conditioner but Iβm still looking for a shampoo. Thanks in advance!
I have really thick low porosity 2a/2b hair. I have low porosity hair which gets frizzy & dry & can take 6-12 hours to dry. What products help with low porosity hair retain moisture? What shampoo/conditioner would be best? Any serums or sprays would help? Thanks for any help!:)
Edit: my routine now is just shampoo & conditioner, I'm currently using Maria Nila true soft shampoo and conditioner but I'm looking for a new conditioner that moisturizes more.
I have no idea what my porosity is. It has so many characteristics of both high, low and medium and I don't know why.
I have 2c, fine, high density hair. It takes ~1 hour to dry, is extremely protein sensitive, is never oily, takes awhile to absorb products but gets wet instantly, always feels dry, doesn't develop product build-up easily, and doesn't hold styles very easily. I think it's also important to mention I live in an extremely dry climate at high altitude, (2,900m/9186ft), and I'm someone who deals with dry skin too, so many that's related to my hair? I don't know. Could someone help me out or at least relate to me?
Thank you so much! Edited for spelling.
I want to make use of as much time as possible, but I don't want to end up ruining my hair. Is it okay to get dreadlocks with a thinning crown if you have enough hair on the crown or would you just recommend treating it completely before growing it?
How do you determine hair porosity? I read on this sub that the float test canβt be trusted but no other ways to figure it out.
I have been naturally curly for about 2 years now. Rarely ever straighten my hair (and when I do I use the dyson hair dryer and straightener) and I have no chemical damage. At the beginning of my journey, when I chopped off all my heat damage, I still couldnβt understand why my strands where so bumpy and my hair was so frizzy and had no definition. It wasnβt until I realized that my hair is very porous.
I started using more protein heavy products and been able to achieve the definition I craved. I also got into olaplex and aphogee. But two year later my hair is still high porosity and I just hate how rough and bumpy my strands are and prone to split ends. I also love defined curls so I hate all the random frizzy strands that donβt cooperate (especially in the crown area)
No one in my family has high porosity hair. Iβm the only one. My understanding is that porous hair = damaged, so thereβs no going back. Is it possible to protect the hair from the root as it is growing out to keep it from becoming high porosity?
I have 2c, Fine, Thick hair and I have the traits of high porosity hair (it gets wet easily and dries within an hour, it absorbs products really quickly and easily, I never have any issue with it getting or looking oily), but it's protein sensitive. I have a feeling it just is in severe protein overload at the moment and I'm trying to combat that with moisture, and when I use protein I go the way I don't want to go. Can someone help explain what's going on?
I have 2b-2c hair, fine density,, thick strands. My wash day curls are great and have minimal frizz. But it I add any water or even product on day 2 or 3, it frizzes and loses definition. If I add oil, my hair looks greasy.
What do you do my high porosity people? Help!

Iβve always had an itchy scalp and I know it used to be from oil. Once I started a modified WGM, my hair got way less oily but itβs still itchy. Iβve noticed small flakes and some acne, but Iβm not sure if itβs actually dandruff or not. I have to wash my hair every other day because the itchiness becomes unbearable. I tried ACV but it made my hair brittle and fall out even after diluting it a lot. I started using coconut oil as a pre poo, but recently learned itβs not great for low porosity hair. It helps some but my scalp still gets somewhat itchy.
Iβm trying to find some good shampoos that will help, or any other products that may help. Itβs winter where I am so I think thatβs also making it worse. I started using a free and clear conditioner and Iβm wondering if the matching free and clear shampoo is good? Will it strip my low porosity hair? Iβm trying to find better ways to moisturize my hair as well since Iβm finally learning how to take care of my low porosity hair. Does anybody have any suggestions?
(I want to go to a dermatologist but my dad recently lost his job so we donβt have insurance atm, and this seems kind of unimportant to pay for fully considering everything else. Iβm paying for all of my hair products because I just graduated and donβt have many bills)
I've been trying to grow out my hair and got some decent growth but I feel like it could be betters so I want to do an overhaul of my hair routine.
What products should i buy for deep conditioning, conditioning and oil? (Thinking about trying the LCO method).
Also should I be combing out my hair with a afro pick (I comb from the ends to the root) or should I invest in a wide tooth comb. Is there anything else you guys recommend I should do to grow out my hair. Also how often should I be shampooing my hair. I do it once a week currently as I know that black hair does not build up as quickly as other hair but should I be doing it less often or more often?
My hair is: Low porosity, 2b, and fine but I have a lot of it. I'm struggling to fins products that work with my hair. I wash it once a week and have tried multiple brands such as monday, moroccan oil, and kerastase. After washing my hair is left extremely frizzy for days and no styling products are able to fix it.
I'd love to hear some shampoo/conditioner recommendations as well as styling products and tips. Thank you.
