A list of puns related to "Political spectrum"
Please vote im a big booty woman with massive boobs. I like fortnite and I love dune. Im also a woman.
I learned what asexual meant (as it applies to human sexuality) by stumbling into a Twitter argument, and when the acephobes were correctly told their bullshit was no different than denying gay or trans ppl the right to their own identityβtheir response weaved an exquisite tapestry of pretzel logic where they asserted it was a totally different thing and of course gay or trans ppl have the right to their own identity. So I feel these particular acephobes were on the left bc I feel a conservative would just take the opportunity to also say ppl aren't really gay or trans either.
So yeah, my question is: Does the acephobia you've seen/ experience seem to come from one certain side of the political spectrum, or is it bipartisan?
Just curious about the political beliefs of the members of this sub. Sorry if this post is a tad bit too off-topic.
Also, wanted to add a neutral/apolitical option, but couldn't because Reddit only allows 6 options in polls.
I'll give more context about this question to understand where I'm coming from.
Biblically-faithful: adheres to the 5 solas, Doctrines of Grace, and believes in common Biblical societal values such as anti-abortion, homosexuality is a sin, and the like. Condems liberal or progressive Christianity because it's heretic (denying infallibility and inerrancy of the Bible, believes the Bible isn't the word of God and denial of core Christian tenets)
Center-Left: believes in welfare state, high taxes among the upper class, and believes billionaires shouldn't exist. Adhering to Social Democracy or Democratic Socialism.
To add more, Reformed but do not necessarily agree much with Voddie Baucham, Owen Strachan, Jordan Peterson and other prominent right-wing US personalities especially in terms of politics and economy. I would agree with them in terms of common societal values such as being anti-abortion, same-sex marriage and the Woke ideology/Cultural Marxism (but I'm open to more information on this).
Mostly agreeing with Tim Keller and Methodists when it comes to society issues like social justice. Condemns both Communism and Fascism but disagrees with much of Conservatism esp US Republican definition.
With that being said, going back to the question. Let me hear your thoughts.
His daughter says that was a lefty, which is probably the closest description, but I've seen him take both positions that today would likely be considered far left AS WELL AS positions that could be considered anti-SJW (or however you wanna call it)
Not to suggest that I knew him better than his daughter, but would it maybe be more accurate to describe him as a centrist perhaps?
I personally find MTG extremely counterproductive on my side.
But I want to hear who you just canβt stand on your side.
Please respond without a βbUT tHE rePuBliCaNS!β attitude. Iβm asking you to be introspective. Focus on your side.
This might be controversial. First, I'd like to clarify that this is my observation, and I know how the Bible is interpreted through a political lens slightly differs depending on the country. I came from a country that is heavily Christian (Catholic majority) and from what I observed, most heavily religious ppl here are very anti-communist. Can you share some of your perspectives in this? If you disagree with me, also pls comment, I want to have an open discussion in the matter.
So, I was historically a pro-Palestinian leftist, mainly because I was repulsed by how the Israelis drove many Palestinian civilians out at gun point, how Arthur Balfour declared the future of Palestine without the consent of the Palestinian people, and how no Palestinians were invited to the UN to discuss the partition plan. But, in the period before the 1948 war, I never had any issue with Jewish people immigrating to Palestine, as many of them were obviously refugees escaping violent murderous ant-Semitism.
But, as I posted about yesterday, I recently discovered that there was not only a Jewish exodus from Europe, but also from the Middle East and North Africa after 1948 due to violent murderous anti-Semitism. So, this gave me more of an understanding why so many Mizrahi Jews came to Israel. I also learned about how Mizrahi Jews were discriminated against in Israel's early years (with some discrimination remaining today) and how some working class Mizrahi Jews formed a Socialist protest group called the Israeli Black Panthers to fight this discrimination. I also learned about how the Black Panthers reached out to the Palestinians because both were being discriminated against by the Israeli government, but how the Palestinians had no interest in making things better for Mizrahim, only for themselves.
I wanted to bring this new information I learned to my fellow leftists as to highlight the nuances of this conflict between Israel and Palestine and its complicated nature, but they were having none of it. I made two posts on r/socialism. I shared a video about the Israeli Black Panthers with them (link here). I also made a post on that sub called "For peace to maybe happen, Int. Left must also focus on Sephardic suffering, not just Palestinian**" (**link here). They did not take this well. They were adamant that Mizrahi Jewish refugees were imperialists, fascists, and colonialists. I even was banned from r/socialism for "settler colonial apologia."
I'm pretty disgusted right now tbh. To call people fleeing people trying to murder them fascists is one of the most disgusting things I have ever heard. The left prides itself on being "tolerant," well this attitude is not tolerant, it is actually far-right wing. This is extreme hypocrisy.
I would still s
... keep reading on reddit β‘How far right or left are the candidates/people in power. And who are they.
In Dominican Republic is imposible to recognize both main parties where socialist 30 years ago but now they seem to be center right wing.
Liberals love Islam and will defend it to the death...despite Islam being staunchly against all of the values they hold.
Conservatives hate Islam...despite Islamic values nicely lining up with their own.
As much as I think Islam is horrible it's kinda impressive how they can completely fool both ends of the spectrum into going against their own interests.
I think that this rapidly growing subreddit and movement could greatly benefit from DSA members participating!
Just curious
My father recently bought a book by Jordan Peterson for me for Christmas. I was pretty disappointed, because I thought that it would just be preaching the same old tired Conservative ideals (my dad is conservative while I learn left). But then I looked up Jordan Peterson's political standing, and it ranges anywhere from far-right fascist to moderately liberal. So now I'm more confused than anything.
That leads me to the question: Where does he stand on the political spectrum and what specific opinions of his make you say that?
