Is there left-wing or center-left media that has rich/nuanced content that isn't crazy or obsessed with identity politics?

Hello peeps,

I consider myself a centrist after having been swayed by left-wing ideas and right-wing ideas at different points in my life and I've reached the conclusion that everything in life and the universe is a balancing act and that the Truth will be found at that balanced point for anything, however I find myself predominantly watching right-wing or center-right content and I know I'm missing out on good left-wing conversations, I think it's these fucking algorithms just pigeon-hole you (like on Youtube) and I find it hard to find good left-wing content where they aren't spouting some identity politics bullshit or unintelligent tax the rich rhetoric almost produced IN ORDER TO make you enraged and engage with the lunacy, so please fellow centrists recommend any podcasts/media where there's rich content about issues from a left-wing perspective that isn't TYT or MSM

I want to understand the right/left wing dynamic in Latin American politics.

In my country the concept of left and right wing does not exist in our political discourse. Most politicians do not place themselves in these categories and if you were to ask the average person on the streets of our capital what terms like 'socialism' mean they would not be able to tell you. From what I've gathered these are very important concepts in the Latam political landscape(and many other countries) but I've always found it interesting how countries in the region seem to foster politicians who fall on the extremes of the spectrum, creating either left wing or fascist dictatorships as a result.

I know many people blame the positions of their respective countries on the policies of governments that fell on one end of the political spectrum or the other but as an outside observer corruption and mismanagement seem to be the biggest issues in our region rather than any political school of thought. So my questions are how did this political culture evolve? do you blame any particular types of policies for the position your country finds itself in? and what side of the political spectrum do you fall on and why?

CMV: academia isn't biased towards left-wing politics, facts are

Okay, so I am aware that this may upset some people, but hear me out.

Academia is all about observing reality as it is - as indepently as possible from cultural and societal expectations we may have - and then if these facts contradict what we previously thought abandon our previous assumptions and be ready to drastically change both our mindset as well as our actions (in cases such as climate change).

This academic attitude of being willing and often even eager to "throw away" the way we traditionally did things and thought about stuff if there's new evidence makes it really hard for the right to really embrace science- and evidence-based policies. This means science will most of the times be on the side of the left which naturally embraces change less hesitantly and more willingly.

Islam benefit from left-wing and right-wing politics

Muslims generally benefit from right and left wing ideaologies.

Left-wing or liberalism: Islam benefits from this because liberals are protective of muslims and treat them like endangered species, whenever something negative is said about Islam muslims can count on liberals to defend them and Islam.

Right-wing or conservistism: Islam benefits from conservatives because they are gnerally anti-lgbtq, anti-abortion and pro-traditionalist. Sure convervatives are somewhat anti-islam but they are not that bad when harming Islam. For example, when trump said he was gonna ban muslims he didn't after he became president, Overall Right-wingers are rascist but aren't extremely Islamaphobic as in banning all islamic stuff and people.

Basically islam wins from liberalism because it defends islam and islam benefits from conservatism because it shares similarities with islamic values.

Hitman's toxic and shallow politics vs a Left Wing alternative.

Trending right now for Hitman are user made user made contracts, "Kill your wife" and "Kill the bitch". Also noteworthy is a contract along the lines of killing a Pedophile ring.

Putting aside what ideally should happen to pedophiles, and/vs pedophile rings, with or without (as per QAnon) concern for child welfare: Solitary agency on the killing of another has a particular appeal on the political right as it has been actively fostered by misrepresentation & discrediting the role of a legal defence in an Adversarial Legal System. Doubt or merit of sentence isn't big in their circles (unless they are Fash or accused of rape).

I have been thinking about the preserving the Gameplay elements of Hitman, but with an entirely different protagonist who investigates suspects with the input of offsite observers - very much like Splinter Cell : Pandora Tommorrow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11VM7E9XFFM Objectives made known to the player prior to a mission would change based upon emerging information, or because your superiors were holding back. Investigation & theft of information is a significant component of the mission. In the mission where you infiltrate the CIA's Langley office, you are expected not to kill anyone as the player character is a US Government operative. Side note: Pandora Tommorrow was produced by a team in Shanghai, so the politics is far less accommodating of a USA's perspective, so the protagonist has more ambiguous attitudes in response to his superior's.

In my preferred setting, the context of the missions is a collective which the player's character is a part. They could potentially have a dialogue options which in turn could be contingent upon which clues were found or were not. The guilt or innocence of the suspect should be in varying degrees of doubt. As the conclusion is derived from what the player character discovers during the mission, I would hope players should get the message that the Death Penalty shouldn't be applied flippantly, while challenging the basis of the State's Monopoly On Force doctrine.

The merits & faults of competing ethical & legal principles could be explored & put on display, including the Death Penalty & what a fair trial actually is - along with some pretty reasonable conjecture that those in power not made accountable shouldn't fucking complain if a leftist collective decides they are guilty & need to die. I imagine a c

Why is the onus to drop identity politics always on left wing to center left but rarely ever the right?

I often hear about how identity politics push away conservatives from working with the left. For me personally, being gay and black, when I hear something like that most of the time it's used to dismiss discrimination or prejudice faced based on identity. By contrast when conservative pundits talk about how Christians are persecuted here, immigrants are going to make white people a minority (they dogwhistle that usually), the LGBTQ community is "destroying" the nuclear family and etc. I don't hear the same criticism levied at conservatives pushing away left wingers.

I wonder if anyone else noticed this?

No offense, but progressive/leftist politics is toxic and depressing as F. Political apathy, or the right wing are not better. Just being on the left is draining more than the normal drain of politics in general. I know a lot of us feel this.

So i finished a clip early this morning with Emma Vigeland talking to Ellen Cushing of shocking, how shitty amazon is again. Specifically amazon prime day. The usual weekly boring bezos bashing. The clip oddly cuts off randomly and you have to finish watching it on peacock. I have no time for this. But some of that is besides the point. It got me thinking

I was just like jesus christ so many left shows (rational national, majority report, humanist report, etc.. This doesnt even include daily blast to the face of progressives/leftist on twitter) are just depressing as fuck. The only thing you can get from it is radicalization, depression, or just having to check out of political discussion for a bit for your own mental health.

Amazon sucks. Your 401k is bullshit and isnt going to save you. Republicans are fascist. Moderate Democrats are your enemy. This progressive isnt progressive enough and might be sellouts now. Your healthcare sucks. Your college debt is going to ruin you and pipeline you to depression as you continue to live with your parents until youre 25. Fashion.......oh you like fashion. FUCK YOU AND YOUR SHOES MADE BY CAPITALIST EXPLOITATION IN VIETNAM. Capitalism sucks and is destroying the world. Climate change is coming and its going to murder the entire species overnight. You like video games? THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY FUCKING SUCKS AND IS EXPLOITATIVE. You like coding and want to get a nice 80k a year job somewhere? Oh yeah.... nice nice. ARE YOU PREPARED TO WORK 60 HOURS A WEEK MINIMUM, HATE YOUR LIFE, QUIT, AND END UP WORKING AT A WAREHOUSE JUST TO CLEAR YOUR MIND. Our imperialist foreign policy is murdering brown babies. Joe rogan sucks. Legal weed in NY sucks cause cuomo. Tesla sucks. Jim from the office sucks because he did a tom clancy tv show for amazon prime and was talking about how cool the CIA is at some random conference he was likely obligated to attend contractually. You driving your fucking car too much sucks. Crypto sucks. Bitcoin sucks. The government is spying on you and you can do nothing about it. Working sucks unless you can afford a 1400 dollar a month apartment in the gentrified part of brooklyn.

The list goes on.

**You know, as a black man. I can tune into like the breakfastclub and hear nice conversations about entrepreneurship (Capitalism. UH OH) . I can tune into other black centered shows and hear convos on small home businesses and tax benefits you can use. Conversations of how to slowly work your wa

I judge left wing politics more than right wing politics for not going after this issue

I sort of have a higher expectation for the left on social issues mainly because they talk about them obsessively at least in contemporary culture and i’ve found many of them to sort of think less of the right when it comes to social issues.

In turn, I end up judging the left for dropping the ball on this issue because this sort of thing should be something that falls under sexual liberation and it’s a major social issue, yet i don’t hear a single thing about it. In my eyes, it’s a major failure for the left.

But why don’t i blame the right as much? I think it’s because they don’t tout themselves as woke warriors trying to move social issues forward. That’s not something they proudly emphasize. So I just don’t expect much because they don’t spend all day telling me that’s who they are or what they are about.

Like the left ran with abortion as a platform partly off of the concept of β€˜my body my choice’. Yet they haven’t showed up for this issue which is arguably an even better example of that phrase because it doesn’t involve anything or anyone besides the individuals body. So where are they? Was it just a catchy phrase that served a temporary purpose or did they actually believe what they were saying? I can’t help but think it was just a helpful temporary marketing tool and strictly political.

Because of this, i honestly just find the woke crowd to be a bit cringey. Like i support lbgt and womens right, so that’s cool. But i wish some of them would drop the god complex and stop saying their woke when they still have so much more waking up to do. Woke implies its done and over, how about waking? Or something present tense? Cuz it’s not over, its far from over, there’s still so much more to go, so many more issues for Americans to discover including this one.

So I can’t help but judge the left because of that self described pride. I hold them to the standard they themselves pretend to uphold.

Im a liberal and im severely disappointed in the left. So much so that i’m considering voting right until the left shows up with a platform that may actually accomplish something worth accomplishing. Either that or until they stop pretending they are better than they actually are. They aren’t the party of my body my choice until they tackle this issue. It’s that simple. Those nice words mean nothing as long as they sit on their hands and let babies dicks get cut against their will day in and day out.

Idk do any of you feel the same or am I being unfair?
