Should I take a job in the petrochemical industry or personal care industry? Which is more stable?

Got job offers, one in petrochemical industry, the other in personal care. The petrochemical one takes refinery grade petroleum and distills it into certain chemicals that they then react with other stuff to make their main product.

The personal care is a big name company, the kind that if I say it's name, everyone will know it.

My concern is I heard petrochemical is volatile these days. I don't want to have to commit only to be laid off a few months later. Which is better in this current climate?

Just read the second point that this German Shepherd is stating. Diwali crackers has more toxic chemicals and heavy metals than industries. He has no idea, most industries produces heavy metals like lead and chromium from petrochemicals to tanning and agriculture uses a ammonia which is toxic.
