A list of puns related to "Pacific Heights (film)"
With Steve Cohen appearing to be lurking in the shadows, I came to realize that this story is playing out much the same way as the 1990 Michael Keaton/Melanie Griffith/Matthew Modine thriller Pacific Heights. Spoilers ahead, although the movie is 30 years old...
Google's description of the movie:
Unmarried yuppies Patty (Melanie Griffith) and Drake (Matthew Modine) move into an expensive dream home in a high-end neighborhood in San Francisco. As they renovate the house, they look for a tenant for the first floor of their house. Carter Hayes (Michael Keaton) seems like a great fit at first, but it transpires that he is a con artist who plans to swindle them out of their real estate. As Hayes tries to drive them out of their own home, the couple must take drastic measures to fight back.
Description with plot points swapped for the Mets situation:
Father-son duo Fred (Fred Wilpon) and Jeff (Jeff Wilpon) take their Major League team into an expensive dream stadium in Queens while dealing with the fallout of the Bernie Madoff ponzi scheme. As they retool the roster, they look to minority owners to buy shares in the team to help inject money into the organization. A billionaire (Steve Cohen) seems like a great fit at first as a rich, life-long Mets fan, picking up 8% of the team. He then agrees to become majority owner in a deal reported to be $2.6 billion. But as Cohen tries to renegotiate the deal to become controlling owner sooner, the Wilpons must take drastic measures to sell the team through a more traditional auction.
I'm with Comcast, but since I moved here the service is AWFUL, constantly dropping, I'm actually trying to record the drops so I can exit the Comcast plan without paying some bs fee.
Has anyone else had awful service with Comcast in the past 2 months?
I work remotely, so I need something fast and stable.
Actual question asked in /r/sanfrancisco
My spouse and I got our mortgage pre-approval for a condo because we were convinced we'd been priced out of the house market in this city if we wanted to live in a decent neighbourhood, but we're seeing quite a few houses in our price range in this area.
I see quite a few posts warning people away from the apartments in this area, but not much commentary on what it's like owning a home. Can anyone share their thoughts on what it's like living and owning in this area? Is there a ton of airport noise? Disruptive neighbors? Foundation issues?
Thanks in advance.
Edit - Thanks for the input, all. It definitely sounds like an area worth looking at.
I notice a lot of people never return to these threads, so I'll make sure I update this once we've bought something.
Edit 2 - the property we were interested in sold, but if we do end up buying here, I'll update the thread. Thanks again for the feedback! Hopefully this is useful to anyone else looking at buying here.
Wife and I are traveling to San Francisco in a few weeks. Are there any restaurants you recommend as a must try in the Mission District or Pacific Heights area?
