A list of puns related to "Missoula County, Montana"
A few weeks ago the feed was discontinued on Broadcastify, and my husband and I have talked about getting the equipment necessary to restore the feed. Does anyone else in the community have any interest in this being restored?
It's here! [Missoula Police Dispatch](http://I'm listening to "Missoula City Police Dispatch" using the Scanner Radio app, you can listen to it by going to https://scannerradio.app/?l=NzE3OTk)
The commissioners are about to force cryptocurrency/Blockhain data operations to invest in and only use renewable energy. They are claiming there is an imminent emergency/threat because of the carbon footprint of these facilities to the environment. What's funny is that there is only one large scale operation in town, Hyperblock, who has always used hydroelectric power for it's facility. This zoning could take place as early as April 4th. This same group of commissioners just passed a resolution giving the county until the year 2035 to achieve carbon neutrality. They have already posted publicly that in 2017 they found that 27% of the county's CO2 came from it's fleet of vehicles, while 19% came from community employees. They give themselves 16 years to be at 100% renewable energy yet the cryptocurrency operation that is already using renewable energy is under attack?
As far as I've been able to discern, all the major "last stop" townsβthat is Calgary, Helena, Cheyenne, Denver & Pueblo in the east, and Spokane, Boise, Ogden/SLC & Albuquerque in the westβwere roughly following parallel economic trajectories into the beginning of the 20th century. I can see why Denver gobbled up Cheyenne & Pueblo, (more direct route from Kansas City, plus federal favouritism, as in the Denver Mint) and why Great Falls & Kalispell stayed small, (Great Northern got a late start) but I haven't been able to figure out why Helena stayed so tiny. The best I've been able to find is that there was some pretty vicious racism in Montana at the turn of the century, which drove out all the black residents, but I have difficulty believing that that was unique to Montana.
Would anyone happen to know anything further about this?
I'm no historian but in 1883 wasn't the town of Missoula Montana founded next to Fort Missoula when the Northern Pacific railroad opened there line through there. I doubt to many people would have taken the Oregon Trail in 1883 when transcontinental railroads existed. Just the cost of supplies you could have had a nice train ride and your keepsakes in the baggage car. Beside that why wouldn't you take a steam boat up the Mississippi River and Join the Oregon trail there save yourself three months. I like the concept but there's to many issues for me to accept the storyline. Oh and in 1883 Dallas Texas got there first electric street lights, just for some perspective.
I live in Missoula MT. There are no Asian markets here. There are no fish you can catch that are meant to be eaten raw. Is there a way I can order frozen sushi grade salmon online? My husband and I really want to make sushi with salmon but we are having a hard time finding any salmon that's good enough. Any tips for getting some around here are appreciated. Thanks!
