A list of puns related to "MetaMask"
Why do hardware wallets like Trezor and Metamask hate each other so much?
When I first got a Trezor this past summer to secure my wallet, I found that I had to load up an older firmware so that it would work with metamask. That felt odd to see that right from the start these two mainstream technologies already had trouble. After doing that, they worked fine for many months and I was able to access defi like AAVE on Polygon and Avalanche using this method.
However, after not doing any transactions for a month or so, I tried making a transaction on avalanche the other day and discovered that every transaction failed when it came time to authorize the transaction. These transactions were still working on Polygon, but not on Avalanche.
After a lot of searching, the only thing I could discover was that Metamask had updated and now it was no longer letting Trezor sign transactions on the Avalanche network. The only way to fix it was to roll back metamask to a previous release which is a potentially very insecure process with all the fake metamask options out there. Before I installed an older metamask, I was essentially locked out of anything I had on the Avalanche network.
I feel that the risk of loosing access to your wallet due to a metamask software update was not something I had imagined. I think that this is something that should be mentioned more when people say "Not your Keys, Not your Crypto". Even if you have your keys, if the software program you rely upon updates, it can quickly turn into not your crypto.
I am trying to move LTC to MM, and it doesn't work. I added already Binance network to MM. I guess I need some BNB for this transfer. But when I place MM address as the receiving address, it said " the address is not valid". What could be a problem? Thank you!
Iβm thinking about deleting MetaMask from chrome and only using the phone app.
After several months of buying small amounts of ether from an exchange i finally had enough to tranfer it to metamask, just few minutes after sending the ether it automatically transfered to another address . I dont know what to do
While there is a lot of things that people may not like about MetaMask, it is still the most competent crypto wallet/interface - just sort of works.. Brave does look better and if it can match/surpass in terms of compatibility with various dappso/dex's, it's going to be THE main wallet forever. EVM first.
It's sucks to go back to MetaMask when something is not supported via Brave Wallet.
The extension was removed from the store, and turned off on browsers where it's installed

I love the Counterfactual wallet for mobile but I do most of my Crypto on a laptop and having my investment Protected in a cold wallet is the perfect compliment to everything Loopring L2 has to offer.
And if you're wondering, Ledger Live is not needed in any way.
So here's what I did, I had a metamask wallet that was already connected to Loopring.io and I had setup and purchased through Ramp. I got my shiny new Nano X yesterday, set it up and connected it to metamask using the "WebHID" option in "metamask advanced options". Next l selected "connect hardware wallet" under my accounts in metamask. You have to open the Ethereum app in the ledger to connect it to metamask. After you see the ledger wallet in metamask then you can connect to loopring.io as normal, you'll have to make a deposit to activate the L2 part of the Ledger wallet and I was able to purchase eth through Ramp from that first login page because I didn't have any in the new Ledger wallet. You'll have to manually change the wallet address during the Ramp purchase to match your Ledger wallet addy and that will deposit the eth to the L2 part of the Ledger wallet and activate it on Loopring.io. I was able to go to my counterfactual wallet and my metamask L2 wallet and transfer the loops I had in those to my new Ledger L2 for only the minimal transfer fee. Make sure your Ledger device doesn't time out during the connection process and remember you will need to sign with it when you log into Loopring.io to get connected. https://www.ledger.com/academy/security/the-safest-way-to-use-metamask
Had a relatively small amount (enough that it stings) in my metamask wallet and in syrup pools on pancakeswap. Around 8 days ago all of my CAKE was withdrawn, transfered to BNB, and ALL Of my BNB was transferred to another wallet.
What went wrong here? Is there anything I can do? Can I report the wallet that my funds were transferred to?
I made a withdraw from my Binance account to my wallet in metamask using bep20 and it shown as completed while I canβt see the deposit in metamask
Like the title states I have never done any of this before and it was confusing and a little frustrating. Almost all of the things I read about crypto are worded for those that already know how to do this shit. With that being said here is how I bought my tokens and then how I got them sent to MetaMask quickly without issues.
When I log in and type my password, the fox keeps looking it. I think that's rude.
My land was stolen for Sandbox from my MetaMask Account on December 3rd at approximately 3:30 PM eastern time. I first became aware of it 11 Hours later, on Dec 4 at approximately 2AM.
Land contract is 0x50f5474724e0ee42d9a4e711ccfb275809fd6d4a
I paid 17k for this parcel of land in Sandbox.
My MetaMask Wallet ID isΒ 0xA08D5d97cAbC72FA1f0e27F34C43eaf0b2a8bE2c
Upon looking further, my land was transferred to another account that is unknown to me for zero dollars ($0.00) to the wallet ID number:Β 0xa66f67f03253a23114022aeb4087cb0feb03d8f2
I never consented to this transfer, I had no intention of selling this land and I was going to hold it for an extended period of time, for over a couple of years at minimum. There is no way I would have transferred it to anyone, especially at zero dollars ($0.00).
Transaction hash: 0x17e9073706f335974281fee524cca9cccee1eda4aca026a7e20ce850e60ba616
I have followed the trail, and my land has been transferred to 3 other accounts since it was stolen, and now being sold for 40k.
I have not shared my account details with anyone, I have not synced my wallet with any other software or wallets. I have no idea how this could have happened without the hacker having my passphrase because I have not shared this information with anyone, I wrote it down on physical paper and hid it.
Hopefully someone can help investigate.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
UPDATE
I think I found the Malware that infected my computer!
I wanted an Alpha Pass for my Sandbox game so I went to www.sandbox-alpha.com and downloaded what I though was an Alpha Pass, but it turned out to be malware .exe extension. The website looks exactly like the Sandbox website, sonit was very deceiving. They got into my Metamask account through this malware and stole everything.
There was a lot of lessons learned, and thank you to the people who reached out to me. I hope Sandbox will do something to seize that stolen land, but I don't have much hope.
However, I do hope many crypto users learned some valuable tips on how to secure your digital wallet and digital assets, get a USB authenticator, and a hard wallet.
Thank you
Lets be honest, all these new ADA wallets coming out are fine and all, I use Nami on Muesliswap with no issues, but when it comes to interacting with dApps nothing beats Metamask. I interact with DEXes from 5 different blockchain networks from a single wallet address in MM and that convenience is just too much to give up.
So now that the dApp scene on Cardano is starting to kick off im wondering if we will ever see Cardano integration on Metamask or if there's any technical limitation that would prevent this?
Info
Ledger will be storing only your private keys for transactions (no actual coins will be stored on Ledger) β meaning, the only way to make a transaction is by physically confirming/clicking on your Ledger device. The guidelines should be working on both Ledger Nano S and Ledger Nano X, although I've tried it only on Ledger Nano S.
For FAQ scroll down to the bottom of the post!!!!
Before we start, just to sum up what you'll be needing to successfully stake TIME: Ledger device, Avalanche wallet, Metamask and lots of patience.
Also, you can use this guide for staking just via MetaMask (no hard wallet) at your own risk (your funds might get stolen if somebody hacks your account), so I would definitely NOT recommend it. In case you wan't to stake like this, follow points 7, 13, 14, 16 (instead of connecting via Ledger, enter you key phrase) and 17 to 26 (just exclude everything related to Ledger).

In Ledger Live / Manager App catalog search for Ethereum (ETH) app and install it (if you already have it, check if it is up to date). If it hasnβt already appeared, also create an Ethereum account by clicking on Accounts/+Add account, search for Ethereum, add Ethereum (ETH) and follow the rest of the instructions as Ledger will guide you.
On you Ledger device open Ethereum app / Settings and enable
Staking support for Metamask
Additionally, staking smart contract support should allow wallet like MetaMask to support staking functionalities for the end users directly as a smart contract call.
Besides the staking as a smart contract library milestone, we also need to update our staking dashboard to support staking via smart contract calls so MetaMask users can do staking too.
For wallet like MetaMask which didnβt integrate natively without staking transaction logic, the staking dashboard should instead call the staking smart contract library to achieve staking for the end users.
This will allows almost all wallets that support smart contract calls to be working also as a staking wallet, giving users more options for staking and setting the ground for subsetting out chrome extension wallet.
When signing a message with Metamask, the ethereum app on ledger only shows some "message hash" instead the actual message that is going to be signed. This makes me feel uncomfortable sometimes.
Anyone knows how I can verify that the hash shown on my ledger is actually generated from the message shown to me by Metamask?
Hello everyone.
So I just set up my ledger wallet on my metamask, but I think I found out today that Ledger only creates a new wallet for you that is safe, but cannot help secure a current metamask wallet. Is this thinking correct?
Iβm reading reviews and stacks of horror stories online about various web wallets. The worst by far being Metamask.
Stories about people waking up to empty wallets, funds disappearing in transit (during an attempted transaction) and CEXβs disabling withdrawals because of deposits made back from these wallets.
Go to your App Store and sort the reviews for Metamask by βmost recentβ and youβll find some disturbing content. Iβd like to believe that these people are the exception and not the rule, but itβs hard to believe when these horrendous reviews are not mixed in with an equal number of positive reviews.
As these wallets essentially provide bridging between blockchains and DEXβs (a necessity in the Defi space),I would really like your thoughts and opinions. What do you use and what experiences have you had?

Hi - Trying to send Matic to Metamask and getting the following error
"ETH,MATIC network withdrawal suspended. Withdrawals can be processed through alternative networks. Subscribe to network recovery reminders to receive updates"
Does anyone have any ideas when the network will come back on (I can't see any help function, or any other way I can get my Matic to Metamask? I only used Binance as it was meant to be the world's biggest crypto exchange.....
There has been an influx of people worried about scams and βhacks,β so I will write down a step by step tutorial on how I madeΒ my MM more secure with a Ledger Nano S. You will need to download Ledger Live, have ready the AVAX network and re add TIME and MEMO address back to your wallet.
Out of the box plug in the ledger and select βrestore from recovery phraseβ
Create a pin, confirm pin
Input your current MM account security phrase on the Ledger (should be 12 words)
It will say βprocessingβ then βyour device is now readyβ now unplug and reconnect your device
Download the Etherium app on Ledger Live to your device
On MM go to settings, advanced, preferred Ledger connection type put βLedger Liveβ
Now go back to your MM and select βconnect hardware walletβ a new page will pop up and select βledgerβ
A new pop up will ask βallow to bridgeβ and select βallowβ this will bring up Ledger Live with a pop up βOpen Device Bridgeβ select βopenβ and you will have to confirm on your Ledger (I had some trouble connecting so I just unplugged the Ledger and reconnected, then it worked fine)
Once Etherium bridge is open go back to the MM tab that popped up earlier and it will ask you to select your accounts. (if your accounts are shown and greyβed out you are good to go and they are recoverable from your Ledger, if not they are not there is a clickable hyperlink, click it and select BIP44 Standard, your accounts should show there.)
Now uninstall your MM extension off chrome (even if you did not copy your recovery phrase on your computer.... itβs still there on that MM and this ensures that its wiped completely, eliminating the chance for a βhack)
Once you have removed MM, you can then reinstall it, Create a new wallet. Do not recover with your seed phrase (we donβt want the seed to exist on your computer what so ever). Follow the steps for a new account (takes like two minutes) after its set up I named my account βdummyβ because I won't use that account for anything.
On your new MM account go to settings, advanced, preferred Ledger connection type put βLedger Liveβ
Now go back to your MM and select βconnect hardware walletβ select βLedgerβ and open bridge on βLedger Liveβ
Back on the MM tab your Account(s) will appear and select them (remember if you donβt see your accounts select BIP44 Standard)
Now when you go to your MM extension you should see your new account and for ex βLedger1β
I selected βLedger1β and added the AVAX network and the
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi guys!
can not switch since yesterday in Metamask to Matic network. Who faced the same issue?
You never know when that device you depend on might break. And it might be way worse than just a cracked screen: It gets completely trashed and inoperable. You can't even connect it to a laptop to try and recover files. You wish you could tell your friends it's because you got wild with your partner last night and crushed it during your festivities, but alas it's much more lame: You left it on the hood of your car and drove off. Or maybe it's stolen altogether. Maybe you have spazzy small kids and you come back in the room to little Tommy playing "hammer" with it. Need I say more? R.I.P. Phone. Anyhow, you shouldn't be the least bit worried about your crypto. Why? BECAUSE YOU BACKED EVERYTHING UP. Right?
"Oh no, my Trust Wallet!" - said not you because you got your seed phrase written down.
"Oh no, my Metamask!" - said not you because you got your seed phrase written down.
"Oh no, my reddit vault!" - said not you because you got your seed phrase written down and your recovery password set up.
"Oh no, my Google Authenticator!" - said not you because you had exported everything to an old phone without a sim card in it.
If you haven't backed everything up, what's stopping you? Life might throw you a curveball 15 minutes from now. It will take less time than that to back everything up. Don't let your assets sit on the chain indefinitely because you 'never got around to it'!
EDIT: A common question I keep seeing here is how to backup Google Authenticator. The method I've referred to in my post is easy and takes 10 seconds. It has a transfer account option with the ability to import/export by way of a QR code. Your codes are then duplicated onto a second device. Since Google does NOT automatically restore these codes on a new phone I urge you to do this process ASAP. Some people have mentioned other authentication apps that are great and even have better backups than Google Authenticator. Thanks for bringing those to our attention!
I hear different views from the website and the reddit community.
It makes sense for them to not be in the explorer.loopring.io because they are still on layer 1.
Also, in no way am I suggesting I have lost these NFTβs. They are on the block chain. Iβm just asking where I can see them. Iβm guessing this βviewableβ option is not available yet on the Loopring Wallet.
I swapped some shiba to roboinu just now and confirmed the swap. Saw all the coins in my wallet for about a minute but now theyβre gone. Anyone know why? Iβm checking my wallet activity and all that is recent is the swap
I need some help recovering a $30K transfer of BNB. Hereβs the data on the transaction:
I purchased $30K of BNB in my Binance account
I transfer all the BNB from my Binance account to my MetaMask wallet but used the ETH blockchain when I transferred it by accident
The MetaMask account is mine and I have all the keys
I did confirm that the MetaMask address I used was correct
The transaction shows up on Etherscan but not on BscScan
My MetaMask wallet has two different Binance Networks set up under different names for some unknown reason, but both have Chain ID 56. See below:
Smart Chain: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/
Binance Smart Chain Mainnet: https://bsc-dataseed1.ninicoin.io
I desperately need help but considering Iβm not computer savvy, detailed instructions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
The past year has been wild in crypto, and this is a warning to people to always use a Ledger or Trezor with Metamask.
Everything had been going pretty well until I had my Metamask hacked and all my LP's, farms everything from all chains completely drained.
I had taken all my profit from trading and put into yield farms to keep for margin for leverage trading.
It all then fell apart pretty quickly as not long after I had funds stolen, the market had a liquidation cascade which then liquidated 2 of my trading accounts as I no longer had the margin to add.
The same hacker also stolen from another wallet the same day stealing over $1m in one day.
Been a very hard few months having lost $500k to theft and then another $500k from accounts being liquidated.
I have been soooo bullish on FTM eco system the last 6 months and too see it all really coming together now after I had my funds stolen is just making mental recovery so much harder.
Possible attack vectors
Permission to bad contract over the last couple years <-- most likely (revoked permissions and hack stopped)
Hotel WIFI in UAE with MIM attacked <-- highly likely.
Pirate audio software installed from years ago with key logger / trojan <-- highly likely.
Metamask chrome keyfile stolen and de-crypted.
I did not give seed phrase or private keys out or contact scammers before anyone assumes as much.
The most moronic thing I have ever done is not use Ledger with Metamask, even though I had some sitting here.
Metamask is not safe without HW wallet.
Rotate wallets frequently.
