A list of puns related to "MIDI beat clock"
Hey guys,
I have a Boss Slicer pedal that Iβm trying to send the tempo from my pro tools project to. I go to setup>midi beat clock and make sure mbox (my interface) is checked and the midi cable is plugged from my midi out on the mbox to the midi in on the slicer. I have changed the slicer to the retrigger setting six and have even reset it entirely and repeated the process. When I hit play in pro tools, it does not affect the Slicer at all, and Iβve hit the start/stop button on the slicer and still nothing. This is an old mystery Iβve been trying to solve for a couple years now and would love to figure it out, Iβve got a couple songs Iβd like to record using the pedal that have sat in limbo since I canβt get it to sync up. Any advice would help. Thanks!
Edit: Using Mac Pro 5,1 with high sierra. Mbox interface. Pro tools 12.
I'm trying to send midi beat clock data to my poly d to have the arpeggiator play in time with my virtual drum machine - I've scoured forums and found people who can do this, and apparently quite easily, but I can't seem to get the routing right. Any help would be appreciated. Evetime I think I've got it correctly routed, I push play in pro tools, press the keys on the poly d, and... nothing happens.
My steps for connecting are below, tell me what I'm doing wrong or what I'm missing:
- Poly D is connected to Synthtribe, clock source is set to MIDI USB.
- Pro Tools was opened after, I opened MIDI studio set up and created an instrument (pro tools recognizes the poly d, I'm also running windows 10). Input port is set to POLY D [Emulated], output port is set to none. All channels are enabled.
- I've also enabled MIDI beat clock for the poly d.
- Poly d is also MIDI input enabled.
- Push play on the transport, play keys and nothing happens.
Please help!!!
I am trying to create a setup where my novation circuit rhythm can act as a master clock and kick off everything when I press play on the circuit rhythm. I want my Zoia (euroburo) to run a bunch of sequencers but with different beat modifiers.. So naturally I was thinking to just exploit the built in beat modifier of the 'midi clock in' module -however I cannot seem to make the sequencers align properly with the circuit rhythm when using beat modifiers.. The sequencers seems to align perfectly and consistently when not using a beat modifier.. I suspect that perhaps the 'midi clock in' beat modifier feature is broken?.. it feels like it doesn't reset the phase in a consistent manner -or something like that...
My setup is rather simple:
midi clock in [quarter out] -> multiplier [in 2]
midi clock in [running] -> multiplier [in 1]
multiplier [out] -> sequencer [gate in]
midi clock in [reset] -> sequencer [queue start]
As I said it seems to work perfectly with no beat modifier, but when I set the beat modifier of the midi clock in to 1/4 -it seems to give very inconsistent results wrt alignment with my circuit rhythm. I tried a lot of stuff that Rube Goldberg would be proud of (amongst others resetting the sequencer when I press stop, or using an LFO with tap input and phase offset and phase reset) -but with no luck.
Is there a way to solve this 'alignment problem' when using beat modifiers?.. am I simply 'holding it wrong' or is the feature perhaps broken? Is the best option perhaps to just let the Zoia be the master controller instead of my circuit rhythm?
Hello, I recently acquired both of these fine instruments and want to sync the sequencer tempo on the Volca Beats to the tempo of the Arpeggiator on the Novation MiniNova.
According to this it is possible to receive midi clock from the midi out on the Volca Beats: https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/how-do-i-set-up-my-korg-volca-series-synth-module-to-sync-to-an-external-midi-clock/
Iβve followed these instructions and connected the midi out on the MiniNova to the midi in on the Beats.
In addition they are both on the same midi channel (10) and the Mininova is set to use its internal tempo. And yet adjusting the tempo knob on the Mininova while the arpeggiator and latch are both does not change the tempo on the simultaneously playing Beats sequence.
Iβve been told this is possible, what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance :)
Ableton 11 has a new function which allows it sense the beat of incoming audio and changes the session to BPM to match in real time.
I was wondering if there was any hardware devices that do something similar - take a mic input e.g. from a snare and output MIDI clock.
The TC electronic ditto X2 has a beat sense function that comes close but doesn't output the tempo.
It would be neat to be able to generate a midi clock signal in real time as the drummers tempo changes without having to run Ableton to do it.
Hey all,
This question seems to be coming up a whole bunch so midi mod u/frog_worm made a nice video just plodding through the whole process with Logic X. Enjoy! Feel free to ask questions!
I got the Korg Miniligue xd following the Arturia Drumbrute on tempo, but I get a lag. I googled quite a bit but having a hard time getting anywhere. Most of these issues seem tl happen between hardward and DAW, but im doing analogue drum machine to analogue/digital combo synth.
Come to think of it I had the same thing happen occasionally between the Drumbrute and the Microbrute synth.
EDIT:
Hi all - I realized many of your questions could be answer by reading the User Guide. It's not the official manual, it was meant for Beta Testers (so some options - like the DIN sync, sending different MIDI packets on the two MIDI connectors, and the configurable delay - are not present), but I think it will be useful :)

Hey synth players :)
Just wondering what people think of current MIDI master clock solutions out there, or if they use one at all. I have heard a lot of good things about the ERM multiclock (though it is pricey!), the USAMO also has an interesting concept.
I'm also bringing a new alternative on the market soon and I would also love to hear what you guys think :) It's called Midronome and it has a good mix of functions from the different master clocks on the market:
Hello all. I'm looking for a device to convert midi clock information to CV trigger pulses, to sync something like a pocket operator or volca. For context, the pieces I'm trying to sync are a Roland MC-500 (as the master), a volca sample (the original, if that matters), and either a PO-12 or a behringer TD-3. I've read that the MC-500 is indeed capable of sending clock data, though if anyone can refute that I wouldn't be surprised. I wasn't able to get it to sync via midi with my TD-3 or my Volca (again if I'm just being stupid please tell me lol), so my plan is to use a midi clock-to-CV device to sync the volca and the rest in tandem. Anyone know any good devices capable of this? Google searches have so far been fruitless, as the results always circle back to a Doepfer MSY2 (not what I need to my knowledge).
Hi,
The last few days I've tried to build a working midi sequencer that starts, stops and resets with external midi clock from an Elektron AR. So far I've got the sequencer to be clocked by the AR and reset when the AR resets but i would like the zoia sequencer to stop when the sequencer from the AR stops and i haven't figured that out yet.
Has anybody tried something similar and succeeded?
If so I would like your input.
Have a good day/night
Im glad to be part of this awesome community!
I'm attempting to use the Matriarch ARP/SEQ clock output to clock the Arpeggiator of my Roland Juno 6, but would like to know if it is possible to get the ARP/SEQ CLOCK OUT signal on the rear to react to changing the clock divisions of the incoming MIDI clock in the sequencer. I love the Matriarch's ability to divide the incoming clock and let you sweep through divisions while the arp or sequencer remain in sync. I have looked through the manual in the global settings but have only found a PPQN output adjustment, but it isn't ideal as it is not "above the hood".
Is this possible?
Hey everyone!
My friend Simon made a device that you might be interested in - itβs called a Midronome.
As far as we know, until now there was no device that can both send an audio click and sync all your MIDI devices. (if you know of any gear that can do this, tell us!)
The need for this to exist came strictly from his band needing something like that, so he figured, thereβs no way they are the only people who would want this device.
During the pandemic he designed it and made a prototype and now heβs ready to start a crowdfunding campaign early next year.
If you are curious and want to know more, he has a fresh and new website that can tell you everything about it - www.midronome.com, Also here you can ask me anything! And Simon will help me answer if anything gets too technical for me lol
We would love some feedback on this!
What would you be willing to pay for it?
All comments are appreciated!~
Hello Guys!
I have a problem with my setup that I canβt solve on my own and maybe someone can help me.
Most of the time when I make music I jam on analog gear and when I am satisfied I record into Ableton. My Keystep Pro runs the clock to a Tanzmaus and controls my modular. When I run Ableton, the Keystep Pro is slaved to Ableton and receives the clock from Ableton. I figured out how to get everything in sync by adjusting the Output of the Midi Clock Sync Delay in the Settings.
My problem is the following: Sometimes I want that Ableton sends Midi Notes to my Keystep that then controls the modular. But I can't get that in sync. The audio is always off. I simply don't find the parameter that tweaks the value. Anyone can help me?
TLDR:
Keystep gets Clock (Midi Sync Delay adjusted) from Ableton and Notes are Programmed on the Keystep, controlling - all audio perfect in sync
Keystep gets Clock (Midi Sync Delay adjusted) from Ableton and Notes are Programmed in Ableton and sent to modular via keystep - audio is delayed and I don't know what parameter to adjust to fix this
Maybe someone can help me out please, itΒ΄s driving me crazy
Hi - I've acquired a Disaster Area cable and its sending MIDI cc fine however not sure how to get loop playback working with Logic. It is sending to the right device and MIDI is definitely being received for cc's but it doesn't seem to trigger loops or samples in sample mode.
Any ideas? Am I missing something?
Hello all!
I got my Zoia way back in May but, as with so many things in life, it had to take a back seat for a while.
Until now.
I'm ready to get back on this horse. But, I'm also taking a different approach this time. Last time I tried to learn how to create my own patches from zero. I want a bit more instant gratification right now. I'd like to do this by running Zoia purely as a MIDI clock to use with other MIDI pedals (specifically a Blooper).
I've looked on Patchstorage for a straight MIDI clock/metronome (I found this but it doesn't appear to be MIDI).
Has anyone created something like this? Or might be able to walk me through creating one on my own?
Thanks!
Hi guys, I want to beat sync my Prophet 8 arp with the Roland TR-8 clock, but I don't know if this is possible and cannot find the answer. I read that for the P6 it is not yet implemented (and maybe never will). However It can take an external midi clock, which will only give the arp bpm, but won't trigger the notes at the right time, which is what I'm looking for. Does someone know how I could achieve such a thing with the Prophet 8? Is it possible Thank you!
Hi everyone. Recently upgraded from my Kontrol S4 MK2 to the MK3 as well as upgrading to Traktor 3 from Traktor 2.
A friend and I do a hybrid live-dj setup and I used to use the midi in on the MK2 to input the midi clock from his setup. Obviously this is no longer possible with the MK3. However I was wondering if it was possible to input midi clock into Traktor 3 via a usb device or something?
Can anyone suggest a module that converts midi to CV with clock output?
I wonder if anyone can help. I'm trying to hook up three pieces of gear; a Helix Floor, an MPC One, and a laptop running Reaper. At the moment, the Helix is acting as the audio interface over USB. A guitar goes into Guitar in, and out to Reaper via USB 1/2. The MPC has a separate audio path into the Helix using 1/4 jacks (2 into 1) on Return 2, which is then sent via USB 3/4 to Reaper.
So far, so good. What's impossible to get my head around is how to synch tempo up between all three. I seem to have Reaper sending out a time code to the Helix and MPC, but have somehow enabled Reaper's transport to trigger the MPC's transport. This is fine for recording, but not for playback. Help much appreciated.
I have a fairly specific question about fitting in a model:samples into my set up. I'm currently using a Polyend Tracker and a Volca Sample2. For a live set up, the Polyend Tracker triggers samples on the volca. It's sending midi note and clock info but not transport (start/stop info) - which is how I want it because I don't want the volca to stop when the PT track stops so that I can jam and keep a rhythm going on the volca while I load a different file on the PT. The problem with the volca is that when I stop the PT track, there is about a second lag where the volca stops playing and then resumes playing according to its own midi clock. The change to the internal clock is fine, the problem is that second lag. A work around is to not sync midi clocks and manually match the tempo on the volca - which I can live with - eventually the clocks go out of sync but it takes a while. I'm curious would I be able to have the same setup with the model:samples replacing the volca and avoid that second lag?
Basically I am looking for a cheap way to send a MIDI sequence and clock signal from Ableton and convert them into CV. I would appreciate some suggestions!
Ps: I was planning to use my 0-coast for this as it has a MDI input and a MIDI CV output and a clock output, but the tracking on the MIDI CV output is horrible, it outputs some random notes very high up in the octaves not even close to what itβs actually receiving. If anyone knows how to fix this I would be very thankful, but until then I will need a separate module for this
Is there any way to send only the midi clock to the Behringer Odyssey? Im ussing an Arturia Beatstep pro.
Will HX Stomp XL accept clock signals (to simulate tap tempo) from an outside source and interpret them in its effects such as delay, reverb?
I've read the manual and suspect this is the case, but wanted to ask here as well.
Follow up question: If I can feed a clock signal into the HX Stomp XL, can I then re-program the tap/tuner foot switch so that the tuner is initiate with a tap instead of press?
I'm in the process of building my first rack and want to use the Digitakt for sequencing/clock in the beginning but from my research I've learned that not all MIDI/Clock modules play nicely with the Digitakt (or vice versa) due to how the DT sends clock (all the time) and note triggers. I know Intellijel's offerings work well but they're a bit on the pricey side (but if that's why then so be it). I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience doing something similar and what modules you used?
Hi everyone! I checked online for a simple clock converter, but I can only find MIDI-to-CV or CV-to-MIDI converters with lots of stuff (like gate, CC messages conversion, pitch to CV and so on) that I don't need :/ I'm just looking for a simple clock converter so that, when I can't use my Electribe 2S as a clock source, I have something to sync my Adrenalinn II to my analog sequencer.
I've read that MIDI clock is a sync signal composed of 24 pulses per quarter note, but I need a DAC to convert those pulses to a simple 5V clock, right? Can you help me?
Thank in advance!
I'm looking for a simple multi-track (i.e. β₯3 tracks) looper that can act as a midi slave - the particular purpose in mind being to make separate loops in sync with another person who has an RC-505. I intend to stick in a guitar/electric-drums/keyboard into a mixer to go into this loop station.
For example, something with the loop/MIDI cababilities of the RC-300 would be great. But, I already have all the effects I want with another effects pedal, so I want something with much fewer bells and whistles (read: cheaper) and would just be a looper.
I've searched a while and couldn't find anything like this with >2 tracks. Is anyone aware of anything like this?
