A list of puns related to "Arpeggiator"
For the love of Allah I can't make the arp in Ableton sound good. It always sounds robotic as fuck and kind of out of pocket. What am I doing wrong? always try switching modes and octaves but it never sounds right.
Hey,
Anyone know why my arp isn't playing the first beat?
For example, I have a 4 note chord playing for one measure.
I have the arp set on grid, 1/4 speed, and set to four bars. I'd expect it to play each note of the chord on each quarter note, but nothing happens on the first quarter note and then the arp kicks in on the second beat.
Any ideas?
Hi all,
I am having an issue with my arpeggiator on my Hydrasynth Desktop.
When the Mode is set to Random and Octave to 2, my Octave Mode will not distinguish between Up and Down.
So for example, hold a 3 note chord in Octave Mode Up and the notes will randomly play in note pressed octave and the one above. No problem.
If I now select Octave Mode Down, the notes will still randomly play in the note pressed octave and the one above. I would expect this to play randomly in the octave below.
My Octave Mode works as expected in other Arpeggiator Mode settings.
Is this by design? Is my unit faulty? Have I missed something in the manual that explains this? Am I being stupid?
Any help appreciated, thank you!
Iβm trying to use arpeggiators to (when I turn them on) snap all my midi notes in the clip to chords that happen on the down beat. Arpeggiater only seems to be able to think in 3/4. I tried the max midi Arp effect which offers a triplet function, but that only got me farther from what I was looking for. Itβs important that I do this on the level of Midi because Iβm using this function for live performance. Any suggestions on how to make it work or what other midi effect might give me my intended result? Thanks guys!
Hi folks,
I've just ordered a MFOS Sound Lab Mini Synth (super excited to start it) that I'm going to be building with a keyboard as a standalone synth and I was thinking it would be cool to have an inbuilt keyboard controlled arpeggiator - does anyone have any recommendations for a kit or schematic?
So far I've looked at just sticking an Arpie in it, but it seems too complicated. I just want something super simple like the Juno 60 arp...
The other idea I have is just bastardising an Arturia KeyStep since it has an inbuilt Arp/Sequencer and CV outs - just not sure about the number and size of the keys on it.
Hey y'all,
I just wanted your opinions on how you find the arpeggiator for the One/Live/X using the 2.10 software. I feel as though arpeggiators is something I use a lot while playing synths but somehow find it lackluster while using it on the MPC. I like how you can adjust gate times and use different patten variations, however it never works as intended for me.
For some reason when I set the note repeat latch to on (and select Arp on the right corner) then click the overdub/play button, the latch always disengages the first time. The second time
I select the arp latch to On it seems to work (maybe its a bug in the software?). Also, I feel as if there is some latency when I record an arp pattern into a sequence. I don't have a midi keyboard to test out the feature with it either so has anyone found it to work differently while using a keyboard?
Any thoughts or comments will be appreciated!
Peace and keep making beats!
The MPC picks up the midi signal from the Keystep as I can play the keys and it works as expected
Hello, I recently got a microfreak and I've been trying to sync it up to play with my friends drum machine (volca drums). I'm using the clock out on the volca and clock in on the microfreak, and I'm trying to run the arpeggiator and sequencer. Is there any way to change the arpeggiator subdivision? When the microfreak is using the internal clock I can set the arpeggiator subdivision rate, but when I sync it up to the drum machine clock changing the subdivision doesn't seem to work. If I use the microfreak as the master clock, I can get the subdivisions to change, but the drums only trigger when I am actively playing an arp/sequence. I would like to be able to eventually use this in a larger context where it doesn't make sense having the microfreak be the master clock as this, and I can't figure out a way around this. Ideally, I want to be able to have the drums going all the time and play the arp on top. If anyone can help me with this I would appreciate it.
CLARITY EDIT / tldr: I have my microfreak synced to an external drum machine, but the arp only triggers in 1/8th notes. Can I set it to to 1/16th notes or anything else?
When using the clip launcher, Is there a way for a clip to engage the arpeggiator, but then have another clip on the same channel disengage the arpeggiator? Basically I want the arpeggiator to turn on and off between the different clip launches. Iβm not sure if Iβm asking this in the correct way, but Iβm shooting from the hip for help.
creates a 24-semitone grid.
Anyone know how to recreate the arpeggios in Tomorrows Dust? Sound, notes, rate, pattern etc? Ive looked everywhere (ive convinced myself ive looked everywhere)
Hello! I've recently switched from Logic to Ableton. I loved the logic arp presets but the ableton equivalent is not quite as good (ableton is better in so many other ways though)
does one anyone know a midi arp plugin with a wide selection of presets?
thank you!
I noticed that when I chain a few arpeggiators (four or five even) in front of a percussive sample with different rates I get different rhythms by adjusting the gate of each. Especially with hihats for instance. I might set the first to 1/4 the second to 1/8, then 1/12, 1/16, and so on, then start experimenting with the gates of each and I get all kinds of different rhythms. I'm using sampler for the hihat and by setting the steps to a small number and the distance to just a couple steps or so to any of the various arps it gives even more variation. Does anyone else use this technique for making interesting rhythms? Edit: Works best when you use a single midi-note spread across the bar as opposed to drawing in a pattern.

*tempo locked meaning I can only choose between the regular intervals of 1/4, 1/4T, 1/8, etc.

Hi! So I build digital electronic things once in a while and now I want to build an Arduino midi thing to jam with. I want to hear ideas from the community, experiences with similar hardware and what you liked or disliked about them, how your ideal generative tool should be or any idea you have. Every thought can lead to potential discoveries and ideas so all comments are welcome. Also people who got some progress or want to start similar projects and maybe want to keep in contact and share thoughts, code or schemes.
I made a working proof of concept, kinda like a baby-8 sequencer but the step LEDs form a ring and the notes get sent via midi instead of CV, quantized to a desired scale. Thanks to task scheduling, processor is free most of the time, so I can still do algorithms, parameter processing or listening for input meanwhile I keep my pattern playing. Should probably redesign the hardware and the layout too. Think of it as a "brain" that can listen for midi notes, output midi commands and has some interface to read what's happening and to control what to do next.
I have a couple midi sockets, an LCD screen, pots, lots of arcade buttons, single RGB LEDs, my 16 RGB led ring, joysticks... I could by other electronic supplies too. I even have a wifi board that could handle a webserver (so I could for example use any mobile or computer to set it up with no need to install a new app on them). It's not clear what I'll end up using, just letting you know what I have available. CV/Gate out is not fully working because I'd need some additional hardware for accurate cv pitch (though it's cheap, just not easy to find in my area) but I could set pitch with midi and use analog signal for gate. Analog inputs are readable too (for example to create a CV to midi quantizer)
I have enough "normal" sequencers and an arpeggiator in my gear, so I'm not looking to have more basic functionality, but expanding it into weird territory. I'm looking for a more interactive thing, something that can be triggered, edited or revamped at hand with no stops or menu diving. So I'm looking up for ideas to "spice up" stored patterns or give a twist to the old arpeggiator. Or some kind of generative controller that creates patterns or random music based on parameters. Maybe some tool that creates lines after some input note or notes from my midi keyboard and rearranges them. The flexibility with code programming is really huge, you can do whatever.
How's your ideal sequencer? What

Ableton 9-11 compatible.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to type out exactly what I'm looking for but basically I want to know if it's possible to set the arpeggiator on my Sub37 to restart when I hit the key.
Generally when patching modulation for my live set I'll use the editor in ableton, sync the BPM so it's matching the backing track then have KB Reset turned on so when I'm not attached to an external clock it's on time (as long as I hit the key on time) I usually use this for filter ducking on the beat and simple effects like that.
I'm working on a preset for a new song we (my band) haven't played live and I'd like to turn the arpeggiator on at the end for a jam section. Only problem is there is no KB Reset option for the arp section so when I'm not linked to an external clock it just continuously runs in the background. when I turn it on it is completely random as far as where the first note starts.
Seeing if I have a way to do this through the arp or if my best bet is to use the Loop options with KB Reset in my envelope generators.
Thanks in advance for anyone that has any ideas.
