Ah the PK. A wonderful and reliable Soviet or Russian general-purpose machine gun family made by the legendary arms designer, Mikhail Kalashnikov. PK also stands for "Pulomyot Kalashnikova" or "Kalashnikov's machine gun". Its main rivalry was first the M60 GPMG (its still kinda the main rivalry of the PK but the M240 took the spotlight) and now the M240/FN MAG GPMG.

Multiple variants of the PK are made. The most popular one is the PKM, which is a modernized version of the PK which came in 1969 and another one is the PKP Pecheneg which is used by Russian Ground Forces troops, Syrian troops and some other. PKP Pecheneg came in 2001. There are even foreign made versions of the PK. Like for an example the Yugoslavian M84 or the Polish UKM-2000 and the Ukrainian KM-7.62.

Like the AK, its mostly used by insurgent and 3rd world military forces. Don't get fooled that they only use Soviet weapons. Some insurgents and military forces get their hands on captured military weapons like AR-15 rifles.
