A list of puns related to "Lyric poetry"
Here are a few examples:
Money on my grave, hundreds on my shades
I don't wanna stay, if you got it, I can pay
Something in the way, real depression, I don't play
Everything decayed, I'd give everything away
Every day the same, every day could be today
Want to go away, I get higher like my age
Love is like a game that I don't know how to play
If you see me in the streets, I don't want to show my face
Want to show you that I'm not worthless
I have taught myself how to suppress my urges
Just a basic shirt but I know it's from Hermes
Self-hatred because I need to be perfect
Snipers on the roof, please, kill me if I lose
My trust would be abused, barbed wire 'round my group
No spiders in my fruit, drinking ciders from Peru
Everything is new, when you see me, boy, salute
My happiness is not real but I'm happy though
She don't know how I feel, never let her know
I hold onto my shield, never let it go
I know how the knife feels, I will let you know
Everything hanging on a string
Diamond earrings
I can't even blink
I am at your door, let me in
For you, I cut my wings
Throw the phone, cut the SIM
I'ma cut the oxygen, evil smoke rolling in
Delete my number, baby, leave me like a dumpster baby
Treat me like trash 'cause that's all
Iβm helping a friend find the lyrics to this song from back in β06, specifically the part where it goes βlike Maya Angelouβ¦.and Nikki Giovanni and Sonia Sanchez in your eyesβ¦β Weβve tried Google but for some reason the lyrics arenβt popping up.
We were reading Keats' Hyperion for a class and the poem gave me major Divers vibes (Saturn plunging into the night like a diver, the contemplation of the pain of death vs birth etc.) Does anybody know if Joanna ever talked about Keats as an influence or have any of you got Joanna vibes from a Keats poem or vice versa? I'd like to know if it makes sense for other people as I suspect I might just be seeing the world in Joanna tinted glasses sometimes.
I am in search of others that have a passion for writing song lyrics, poetry, short stories, just loved to write about anything and everything.
Hi all.
I'm looking for a solid anthology of Greek Lyric poetry.
I'm hoping for a decent breadth, good notes and explanatory material, and a translation that is readable but is literal just enough to preserve some of the ancient strangeness (hopefully that makes sense!).
So far I've found two candidates. Any thoughts on these? Or others I should consider?
Greek Lyric: An Anthology in Translation (Hackett Classics) https://www.amazon.com/dp/0872202917/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_QERMX549BQTKT8FMXF4F?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Greek Lyric Poetry (Oxford World's Classics) https://www.amazon.com/dp/019954039X/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_F9PHFYMM0QKVJP8ZJM5K?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks in advance!
Hey there, guys! Iβm pretty new to penpalling (that what itβs called?), but Iβd love to have someone I can write to and send letters filled with my strange kind of charm! I write songs, punk rock and indie mostly, take photos of whatever my Olympus can find, and am a bit of a sucker for romance and poetry, though if thatβs not for you, my jokes are as good as my handwriting is bad π€£.
Ideally Iβd like to meet someone my age, but I can be flexible :). Sorry if this post isnβt the subβs usual, but I figured Iβd be direct π
It's his birthday tomorrow and I want it to be something unique and more interesting than just a clothing piece. So suggest me a poetry book for a friend who writes lyrics for rap and pop
Pls don't judge me, and yes, ofc I've listened to it

Just felt like sharing this after rediscovering it on YouTube. Tereza has performed in Juhuri, Hebrew, Russian, Azeri, etc. at many of my family and Kavkazi American's parties (Weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, etc.)
Someone should post Diet Soda Poetry on Genius. I'd like to see his lyrics but I don't have the time to post them myself. If anyone does please comment below. Thanks! #FnF
In my experience, people often try to fill songs with some form of meaning, message, or story, but it seems like, when reading those lyrics, my mind instead focuses on the musical aspects, the rhyming, the structure, the notes it would accompany. However, when music is translated, to me it allows for a focus on the actual meanings of that song, becoming, to me at least, a form of poetry. Thoughts?
Just some poetry / lyrics Iβve written about my experience with dissociation (TW: mentions suicide , swearing etc)
The order of dissociation
Iβm me, Iβm you, Iβm everything in between,
A life shared, shattered into pieces,
Actions unknown, become my own,
From the highest of highs to treading water,
Thereβs no doubt itβs a disorder, but weβll share this life in an untold order,
swing on the gallows, or buy a new recorder,
Shame, regret, debtβ¦
friends you thought youβd never met,
but weβre one, just different,
Love, hate, indifferent⦠belligerent,
Knowledge there, but never aware,
β¦ please prepare, have flare, live your share,
forgotten memories? Who cares? Somebody is thereβ¦
Your friend, your nightmare,
Forget what you know, stay aware,
Donβt hurt the body, cut ribbons in the chest,
Music on high, cut deep in hot water,
Red wounds weeps, but this life is not yours to defeat,
protect, preserve, persecute, hit the nerve,
Rolling Stones, shyfx, the verve,
Bob the builder or musical theatreβ¦
Tattooed βcuntβ or white collared workerβ¦
This is my tale of my dissociative disorder.

Sorry if itβs poor, Iβve not written anything in a long time!
Like I was reading through the lyrics for Bitter Water and everyone was like "Omg this is so me, Star Crossed lovers uwu"
And I'm horrified? The song is about breaking out of a shitty relationship, that I cannot imagine anyone wanting to be in? I watched a friend go through a horriblly toxic relationship and suggested Dear Wormwood to her while she was gathering herself back from the trauma.
Sorry for gatekeeping
(VERSE 1)
With everyone looking deep in me. With distrust and mischief indeed- it's really sad to see. All of the trust I had is gone- lost to loving another one- everything that I had. Before you jump to any conclusions- maybe you should at yourself for the truth. And if you frame as someone that's dishonest.
(PRE-CHORUS)
Try to living through my truth- try living through my truth.
(CHORUS)
And see the world that I'm in. And feel the pain that I felt. And feel the trust that I've lost. You realize I'm no different. Then you'll see I'm like you.
(VERSE 2)
Everyone is mad I see- turning me into their devil to believe- and a scapegoat for their truth. I'm always wrong- that I see- I must believe in what everyone believes- that I'm the monster- not you. I always strived for self-reflection on everything I do. So before you make me into your very own devil.
In the early 2000s I was trading music with an acquaintance and he told me the story of a indie band that was struggling with lyric writing, somehow they came across the writings of an obviously unwell (and homeless, I think) man and they used his words for their songs. They started to have success after that.
He was into Modest Mouse, Built to Spill and 764-HERO.
It's his birthday tomorrow and I want it to be something unique and more interesting than just a clothing piece. So suggest me a poetry book for a friend who writes lyrics for rap and pop
