So, recently I’ve been thinking about the old “Do you believe in God” story with Rachel. Ever since learning about Columbine I quickly learned why it was considered almost certainly untrue, and I’ve thought of it that way too. But one thing has been recently sticking with me that makes me think the reality might be a little more complicated.
I know that almost everyone thinks (correctly, in my opinion) the most likely explanation of what happened to Rachel and Richard - between the “mythologized” version and the “surprised and no interaction” version is the latter by far. People agree that Richard’s initial statements in the 11k are the most reliable, and in them he just saw the failed pipe bomb, felt himself getting hit, heard Rachel crying from also getting hit, a lot of noise, and almost nothing after that except for seeing E+D leave. I 100% agree too.
That being said - it is also true that Richard, while coming out of surgery, mentioned Eric and Dylan bringing up religion without any prompting from anyone. At a time when there was absolutely no room for contamination from media coverage. Him hearing any specifics, hearing any response, talking himself, or talking to Rachel is probably added after the fact. But the information below feels different, since it was actually from the immediate aftermath.

In addition, it also feels pretty unlikely that he’d come up with this while coincidentally Dylan did ask Valeen Schnurr this question.
One thing I noticed though, is that according to Valeen, Dylan only ever asked her what she believed in God because she unintentionally shouted “Oh God!” as a response to being hit. Maybe this the solution here?

I see this 450lb beanbag chair badly losing his battle with addiction while taking no accountability for his actions. I’m not obese or even close to being fat but it’s a constant reminder to stay disciplined and not to make excuses for myself.
