A list of puns related to "List of Fruits Basket (2001 TV series) episodes"
Note: This will contain spoilers of the 2019 Fruits Basket series up to the most recent episode (though I don't intend to talk about the most recent episode)... and I guess potential spoilers of the original 2001 series. There are no spoilers for the story beyond the 20th episode of season 2, as I am not familiar with the source material, and would appreciate it if people avoided spoilers from the source material up to the point where the current show is at.
I'm finally getting around to watching the original Fruits Basket series that aired back in 2001. I'm only a couple episodes in and I've been reminded of a couple things I had forgotten about because they don't seem to come up often... especially now in the back half of the second season.
Welcome to the FB companion!. For the uninitiated, this breaks down the 2019 anime, the 2001 version and details exactly what chapters of the manga are adapted. It is a Spoiler free guide where anime only watchers can also see how much of the manga the series has adapted without being spoiled. If you are interested in reading about the the differences in adaptation in the first cour, please refer to this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/FruitsBasket/comments/c9mbw4/fruits_basket_weekly_companion_week_3_and_4/
First Cour recap: The first 13 episodes of the 2019 series adapted the first 22 chapters of the manga. By having less filler subplots. It remains one episode ahead of the 2001 series in content (FB 2001 adapted the first 20 chapters in the first 13 episodes).
Fruits Basket guide:
Episode 14 (2019) adapts chapters 23 and 24/ (2001) adapts chapters 21 and 22.
Episode 15 (2019) adapts chapters 25 and 26/ 2001 version adapts chapter 24 and 23.
Iβve seen the original fruits basket but Iβm worried I might miss important new content thatβs not in the original is there any specific episodes of the new one I should watch or should I watch the whole show I just donβt want to spend 4 1/2 hours binge watching the show to have seen most of it before?
Looks like the first cour (13 episodes) of the English dub will premier on October 12 (10:30AM PDT)!!
Someone at Hulu mistakenly added the "Upcoming Preview" of the second season to the original 2001 anime's detail page instead of the current 2019 series! I included a screenshot of what I just noticed...and I only noticed because I was cleaning up/going through all the anime series I've saved on Hulu.
Hooray everyone!! More Fruits Basket is good Fruits Basket!! ^__^
Edit: Sorry y'all, I had to edit the post to add the screenshot!

TLDR: My rants and comparisons how Fruits Basket series is emitting a Disney fairy tale vibe ... as well as some memories that Fruits Basket gave me when I was a teenager.
Questions:
Disclaimer: I'm sorry if it seems an insult to long-time FuruBa fans, but I just finished rewatching (for the second time) episode 16 of Season 2, and for an instant, midway through the episode, I instantly thought of Disney's Snow White during 15:42 to 16:08.
The stringed instruments started to play midway through the episode, and it gave off such a mysterious and creepy feeling! π When I heard that and saw that particular animation scene, I thought of the evil queen from Disney' Snow White (aka as Queen Grimhilde). Fruits Basket is definitely better than Disney fairy tale movies combined! It's modern, it's top tier, and the storyline emotionally connects the characters to the people who consume the series (whether by watching the anime, or reading the manga).
This also reminds me of the particular picture below from the manga: Tohru is portrayed as the typical damsel-in-distress -- she parallels the heroine, Cinderella, in her own coming-of-age and romantic fairy tale story. She's even happy that she'll get to clean such a large castle! Sorry, Tohru, but, that's a silly and hilarious way of thinking --- no one would want that except you π€£
And Just So You Know Fruits Basket fans, I've finished reading the manga in its entirety for the very first time 3 weeks ago. So, when I read it 14 years ago, I skipped several chapters just so I can quicken the pace of my manga reading (which I absolutely regret since I did not fully appreciate the story since I was reading in a rush). Anyway, that Just So You Know by Jesse McCartney AMV YouTube video is something I play on repeat when I was a teenager after watching the 2001 anime when it was dubbed in my country's language! I love the origin

If I remembered from Season 1 of Fruits Basket, Kagura was the crazy chick who hilariously suplexed and battered Kyo. This episode, that was definitely toned down for a deeper and more serious look at their relationship.
The VAs have seriously brought their A-Game every time their character gets a spotlight. This episode, the spotlight without a doubt belongs to Tia Ballard, especially with that monologue. Definitely see a side of this character that we haven't before. And you see the difference between her and Tohru when Kyo transforms into a monster.
(Also, protecc little Kyo and Kagura's smiles at all costs!)
Also, I was watching this with headphones on, and I noticed a few audio inconsistencies here and there, especially with Kyo and Kagura's scenes. Nothing too distracting, but might be notable if you listen for it. Still, it was a good episode.
Any fruit basket anime fan here.......??
So far I have seen both the versions of fruit basket anime.....but for some reason i still miss the 2001 anime. Let me know which one do you prefer
Note- We had discussion for the same two weeks ago since it was early premiere. This time it is full global release hence a fresh new discussion thread.

Which one should I watch and why? Or should I watch both? How do they differ?
And do we have a confirmation that the new anime will cover the full story?

Introduction
I thought about doing this for some time!. I wrote a post contrasting the 2001 series and 2019 series with the manga. I decided to update it here, adding more details and creating a bigger picture for anime only's or anyone who hasn't seen the 2001 version. I will be reposting and updating this weekly.
Fruits Basket guide:
Episode 1: Chapter 1 (Same for 2001).
Episode 2: Chapter 2 and 3 (2001: Chapter 2 and half of chapter 3). The 2001 series adds more comedy filler here, we actually see Tohru cleaning the kitchen. More internal monologue.
Episode 3: Chapter 4 and 8 (2001: rest of chapter 3, chapter 4). The 2019 version collapses chapters 4 and 8 into each other. Instead of being a seperate narrative, it now contrasts Yuki and Kyo's feelings more elegantly, and Momiji's first appearance doesn't feel as forced. It now leads into the scene of Yuki telling Tohru about his feelings instead of just walking her home.
Episode 4: Chapter 5 (same for 2001). Note: Both have filler about the Sohma's being Hungry. In the 2001 version Kagura is a terrible cook, floods the washing machine, almost burns the kitchen down. Tohru ends up making rice balls and the two have a heart to heart while sharing a meal. 2019 version in contrast has Kagura being a terrific cook, but she uses all the food in the fridge, destroys all the food by crashing Kyo through the floor and has a heart to heart with Tohru when they go out to buy food. It also adds a surprising scene from a future flashback and adds some subtle foreshadowing to later episodes.
Episode 5: Chapter 6 (same for 2001). Note: 2001 has filler spent on the family, more time is spent on the oppressive atmosphere and glances on how everyone is feeling. The 2019 version rewinds the clock and shows how Kyo and Yuki got to Tohru's grandfathers house. It also adds in a anime only flashback with Tohru and her mother.
Episode 6: Chapter 7 and 9 (2001: Chapter 7). Note: 2019 just adapts the chapters and gets rid of some pacing issues. By placing chapter 9 (the cultural festival) before chapter 7, we have more of a reason for Hanna and Uo to get suspicious. The 2001 series instead focuses on Hanna and Uo's visit but expands on it greatly with a bunch of comedy gags of the Sohma's transforming in front of everyone. This is also the episode where the anime adds filler about him singing "high school girls".
Episode 7: Chapter 10 and 12 ( 2001: Chapter 8

Well, I have never seen such hatred for an anime more than the last poll discussion here on Reddit.
After a few weeks, I'm back with another poll. This time it's two anime, one story, 18 years apart. If you didn't read the title, it's two versions of Fruits Basket. So, which version is better?
I personally think Fruits Basket (2019) is better for the fact of building more story into the same amount episodes while removing other smaller parts.
