A list of puns related to "Fruits Basket (2019 TV series)"
My sister and I are big fans of the reboot anime and we have started making an abridged series. But since many series get taken down due to copyright because of using footage, I wonder if our series would get taken down? I mean, abridged series for anime such as SAO and TPN didnโt get taken down.

I read Fruits Basket, and I read Kare Kano, and I found I liked the anime adaptions more (the older Fruba anime, of course). Each manga was pretty good, but the creators of each anime injected just the right amount of fun and zaniness to really appeal to a wider audience. When done well, creative liberties can add a lot!

I watch American tv but nothing beats Fruits Basket. I prefer anime if the storylineโs actually good, which is a rarity. This season was fire. I laughed, I cried, I sobbed, I felt.
American tv doesnโt seem to do it for me. It lacks heart and the way the romance is depicted itโs not romantic. Full make out scenes doesnโt seem romantic.
Fruits Basket wasnโt just a coming of age teen drama. It was a show for all the ages. It didnโt focus on teen drama. It tackled on universal themes like trauma, abuse, forgiveness, love in all forms and grief. Just human drama and the complexity of human bonds. Akito uses force and believes bonds donโt change while Tohru uses love and acceptance. Tohru like Akito struggled with bonds changing, because that meant moving on from the past. For Tohru and Akito, it meant clinging onto the memory of their parent. The difference was the methods they use to confront change. Tohru grew up with love and kindness while Akito grew up knowing abuse and force for much of her life after her dad passed. They both accept that bonds can be changed. The bonds we have with each other canโt ever be broken, but they can change form.
I even feel Fruits Basket was universal. It talked about family curses and within each family, thereโs a rigid set of rules and expectations and beliefs, be it which religion the family belongs to. Those beliefs get passed down generationally and we donโt even realize this. As parents, parents have the responsibility to โbreakโ the family curse, whether it be allowing their kids to find what is God to them, or what religion means to them, or essentially allowing the kids to live their lives.
With only 13 episodes even the character development was so good. It wasnโt wasted this season. Maybe I love forbidden romances. There was something pure and beautiful watching Kyo and Tohru. Kyo wanted Tohru to be happy, even if she was in love with someone else. There was a selflessness about him. All he wanted was for Tohru to be happy with her mom.
Who wasnโt moved from last season where Yuki realizes for once he could do something for someone, that he could be helpful to young Tohru, that thereโs someone in this world who needed him. Itโs an incredible feeling. Yuki felt he actually mattered.
With American tv, especially shows with a teen cast, I canโt really take as seriously now that Iโve seen Fruits Basket. Iโm still not over it. Even last week thatโs what my close friend and I kept discussing. We both watched a
... keep reading on reddit โกFruits Basket was the first manga I ever read and I was starting 7th grade. I had the original manga books and it felt like a huge deal because unlike today, the manga sections in the bookstores were tiny and sometimes completely nonexistent. I was obsessed with the story. I mean obsessed. I begged my parents to get me the full DVD set for the Fruits Basket anime (it was so expensive at the time and again, hard to find. From what I remembered, my dad had to look really hard to find it, and it was on an international website). On a happy Christmas morning the giant DVD set was finally mine (I even still have it!!). I rewatched the anime on those DVD's hundreds of times to the point where I still have scenes and dialogue memorized in my head. At that vulnerable age that I was, I learned so much about empathy, kindness, and friendship. I really believe this story played a role in my own growth.
You cannot imagine the excitement I had when I found out that the original anime was on Hulu. You also could not imagine my reaction when I saw this entire new series (2019) was on there too! So I did what anyone would do - watched the entire thing in a week! Watching brought back so many memories and brought the same joy of when I watched the anime for the very first time. I mean WOW. Standing ovation. Round of applause. This show is a master piece. It brought back so much delight to watch this new series after being such a devoted fan as a young person. The depth of the characters and their stories down to addressing trauma - I don't think I blinked once in the entire 3rd season. The nostalgia hit me hard and the emotional response I got from watching... Just amazing.
If you are a young person experiencing Fruits Basket for the first time, treasure it because this show changed my life in building empathy, consideration, compassion, and generosity in my life. If you are someone like me who is rediscovering their love of the story all over again after many years, I'm feeling the same feels - and it's pretty cool to have Fruits Basket being more widely known! Not a soul knew what Fruits Basket was back in the day.
Anyways... I just needed to rant. I don't post much on reddit and it feels weird doing so sometimes, but I'm really glad I found this sub! Reading through some of the theories on here is very fascinating. Thank you for reading my lengthy post :)
With as much anime as Iโve watched, Iโve watched my fair share of dubs. Good and bad. For the longest time it was shows like Cowboy Bebop or Devil Part-timer that I would point to and say, โthis dub was greatโ.
Well, I think Funimation and the amazing work of the English voice actors brought this show to life in a way I havenโt seen in a while. Fruits Basket is my new number one dubbed show. At least for the time being.

So Fruba 2001 and the manga means so much to me. As an illustrator, the series really kickstarted my art journey as one of my main inspirations back in the early 2000s. I also have many fond memories watching the show on bootlegged anime sites and reading scans of new chapters at school (and trying to find which sites the school didnโt block yet to read them on).
Now that the new series is done and the prologue is coming out soon, I wanted to finally watch the series all the way through and start over the remake (already watched season 1).
That all being said though, I feel like the series isnโt the same as I remember. Maybe itโs cuz the 2001 anime and fan culture at the time was all about the curse than rather than the drama/tragedy that this series is? As an adult of course I can appreciate the coming of age story now that the series is telling, but for some reason itโs not the Fruba I remember.
Idk, did anyone else feel the same with the series? Maybe it was because I was really interested in Teen Titans and all the superhero tv shows at the time that people turning into animals was just a fun concept? Granted Iโm rewatching the pilot of the 2001 series and the pacing does seem faster than the remake (also I could have sworn that Shigure was more of a perv in the original than the new series).
But then againโฆ I wonder if itโs just that Iโm older now. Iโm no longer that 14 year old finding the series for the first time shipping Yuki and Tohru together. I found myself liking Shigure and Hatoriโs stories better now that Iโm that age too.
Sorry for the ramble! Iโm just curious if Iโm alone in these thoughts.
On the surface, Fruits Basket is a cutesy shojo anime about a girl who meets the Soma family. Members of the Soma family are affected by a strange curse which causes them to turn into cute zodiac animals whenever they're hugged by someone of the opposite sex.
At first, that doesn't seem that bad, right? The atmosphere of the show is comforting and wholesome. The art is bright and colorful, the characters are expressive and vivid, and everything is sunshine and rainbows. Our protagonist, Tohru, is a ray of sunshine who is always kind and thinks of others before herself. Most of the time, we see things through her eyes, so we don't know the truth about the Somas.
Lurking underneath the pretty colors and goofy shenanigans is a dark secret: the Soma family 'curse' is much more than it seems on the surface. I won't provide any spoilers, but I will say that there is some *seriously* dark content to this show. Manipulation, trauma, and physical and psychological abuse are deeply rooted in the story. Don't expect a Madoka Magica genre switch or gruesome horror. Instead, this show is a slow burn. As the story unfolds, we see more and more of the twisted underside of the Soma family.
The effects of this abuse are gut-wrenching. Pretty much every member of the Soma family has a tragic or painful past. Their funny personality traits aren't just quirks the writer added for laughs. Why do the two male leads hate each other and constantly get into fights? Why does one Soma have a violent 'dark' side that comes out when he's upset? Why does another Soma constantly apologize for everything? These qualities didn't come out of nowhere. They're there for a reason. They are the manifestations of years of abuse.
This show has one of the best villains I've ever seen. They're not a badass hell bent on taking over the world. They simply want to have complete control over the twelve members of the Soma family. Control over who they are allowed to love, how they are allowed to act, and where they are allowed to go.
The stakes are much lower in this show than in many others. The world isn't at stake. It's just the lives of the members of the Soma family. However, because the stakes are lower, we get much more personal. There's tremendous character growth. We truly feel the pain inflicted by the villain and witness how much it has been engrained in the lives of the Soma family.
I started this show looking for a wholesome, cute romance. Now, I'm so much more moved by the
... keep reading on reddit โกI would like to nominate myself as Fruits Basket number one fan, running unopposed. This is my favorite and top anime in the entire world and that will never change, no matter how many shows I watch. Because I know that even if I go through my entire watchlist, nothing will ever be as amazing or beautiful as this show, and nothing will ever make me feel the way this show did. This review might be a bit long, but it's truly the most heartfelt detailed description of why you need to watch this show and why it's the best show I have ever seen, even beyond the anime genre.
Unbelievable plot. If you don't know already, Fruits Basket is all about the Zodiac and the curse on the Sohma family. They are possessed by animal spirits of the zodiac. Tohru Honda comes along, completely unsuspecting, and is now involved in their curse. As an outsider, she comes to learn more about each member of this Sohma family and develop bonds with them. However, unbeknownst to her, the head of the Soma family, Akito, is watching her every move. ~ It sounds intriguing because it IS. This is the most interesting anime you will ever watch. Every single episode is filled with heart and soul. Every dialogue is meaningful. Every plot event is somehow essential to the show. There is no "filler". Not a single dull moment. Not a single boring moment. You can literally not look away.
This is the 2019 version and I know it's leagues beyond the 2001 version, but the art was truly something else. Beyond that, there is such attention to detail in facial expressions and body language. There is stunning artistry in the background visuals. You also see little things like the character aesthetics; like Kyo loves wearing red and Yuki always wears a button-up shirt. Or when Shigure goes from wearing a kimono to wearing a suit, everyone turns heads, because you notice wardrobe changes. All of the art has intention and meaning, and it is essential to the plot. Even colors represent things. The actual zodiac animals are beautifully made and they all represent personalities of the characters.
Furthermore: never have I ever heard more beautiful intro and ending songs. Every 13 episodes or so, the songs change, and they get better and better. The actual music within the show is glorious, too. They are such signature Fruits Basket sound effects that you never find in any other show. It is so niche and adorable. The music literally gives me chills, and you can tell when the vibe of the episode changes b
