Welcome everyone to the award ceremony for our first annual r/Marvel Awards! First off we'd like to thank everyone who participated in voting. Every vote counted for sure in this one, as some categories were won by less than 5 votes. In the long run, it appears that the majority of this past year's best Marvel works were recognized in at least one category and reflect how great of a year it was. Of course, there were some that didn't make the cut, but were still pretty close (we'll mention those later). Now, onto the show!
BEST ONGOING SERIES and BEST NEW SERIES: AMAZING SPIDER-MAN by NICK SPENCER
While a lot of Marvel's "Fresh Start" relaunches were pretty awesome, it's undeniable that Nick Spencer taking over for Amazing Spider-Man (after Dan Slott's long tenure) was the best creative team change to happen with said relaunch. With a killer first arc entitled "Back to Basics", Spencer managed to quickly get Peter Parker back on track to being the Peter Parker many comic fans feel had been... missing... for some time. By keeping it up past this arc and continuing to bring back a lot of the things we love the most about Spider-Man, it's easy to see why this one walked away with two of the biggest awards of the year.

BEST LIMITED SERIES and BEST NEW CHARACTER: COSMIC GHOST RIDER
Although he is a new character (that isn't really new at all, being that he's basically an alternate, future version of a pre-existing character), Cosmic Ghost Rider has taken the comics world by storm ever since his unexpectedly brilliant debut in Donny Cates' acclaimed Thanos series, taking both the Best New Character award, and Best Limited Series award with his 5-issue run that followed-up on his story in Thanos. Both wins were landslide victories.

I'd even take a brief cameo from Sam.
Obviously we've seen video game film adaptations almost always go wrong or not great. But if they were done well the way (i think) Marvel Studios handled the comics, man that would be cool. Well acted well choreographed well directed and produced high budget films, first around some more core original members that develop the world to an extent and then build on them and give them more life. Just dreaming out loud

To broad-stroke it, they suggest a DBS movie in another Universe but I had a naturally progression in that line of thinking.
What about a DB movie without any Universe 7 characters at all? A Pride Troopers movie? A Universe 6 Saiyan movie? Angels of the Multiverse? I feel like the current trajectory of DB as it pertains to U7 is more and more transformations. We know it, and we like it Another universe's DB film could allow for characters to grow stronger in different ways. Even a U6 Saiyan movie could still focus on transformations but maybe different ones. SS3 and canon SS4? Something brand new?
Kind of a fun thought. I'd love to see a theorteical Pride Troopers: A Dragon Ball Story. How would you feel about a U7-less DB movie?
Sure origins isn’t the greatest but I enjoy it for what it is and Deadpool was horribly done but I don’t hate it. I like it but needed to be left alone completely. Shame fox never left Gavin hood alone.
The Wolverine I absolutely Love and it does the impossible which is make X3 a better film by using those events to inform and strengthen his character and I often question weather it’s the best 2013 comic book film. Yes silver samurai was a bit goofy and could’ve changed it a bit, but it’s overall a great film.
Logan now is Absolutely perfection and easily the best plotted and thought out Marvel film to date yes better than endgame.
It’s insane how the Wolverine Films were able to perfectly encapsulate who and what Wolverine is as a character and why he’s a great character and it’s a shame besides First Class and DOFP the core X-men franchise never got the attention it deserves its safe to say the spin offs from Fox will be more fondly remembered. Sure would I prefer wolverine to wear a costume of some sort yes absolutely but I would’ve been fine if he just wore his NEW X-Men Jacket just wear something resembling X-men but that’s my only gripe.

I'm at the stage where I want to start consuming large amounts of Italian content. I've watched The Great Beauty and the series Suburra with English subtitles and they are excellent but I didn't understand a lot. Just words here and there. I'm hoping it sinks in anyway if I watch enough.
So, what are some good shows and films to try watching? I'd like to make a list and make my way through them. Maybe watch something every night. I also tried to watch Cinema Paradiso and couldn't understand a word of it.
