>NAIROBI (AP) -- Document leaks have revealed that recent skirmishes in Jubaland, southern Somalia, were part of a failed EAF operation to overthrow Al-Shabaab in the region and move to counter British influence in Somalia. The documents outline a convoluted plan to establish plausible deniability for a paramilitary private security company and then use it to back an operation against Al-Shabaab in Jubaland. EAF agents would then have orchestrated a referendum in Jubaland to determine whether it would remain functionally independent or join with Puntland, with the EAF backing either state depending on the outcome. The overall goal was apparently to establish a counterweight to British-backed Puntland, or at the very least ensure Puntland was also favorable to the EAF.
>The documents shed new light on recent skirmishes in Jubaland, which saw paramilitary forces now revealed to be backed by the EAF launch a failed campaign against Al-Shabaab, taking heavy losses. The terror groupβs hold on the region remains strong.
As promised during the great war, Italy will be receiving a portion of land in Africa(aside from the purchase of somaliland, which has no bearing on this deal). Jubaland, a rightful part of Somalia, has been offered by the british to us as a reward for our contributions.
We of course will accept this and though many Italians are dissapointed in the lack of gains in the middle east or anatolia from the war, Orlando is seeing somalia more and more as a great accomplishment. We also wish to arrange a trade treaty with britain, and ask them to lay out their terms.
I'm assuming its Koofur Orsi since it has the most arable land
Hey users of r/Kenya I just wanted to ask a quick question because ive been seeing this around a lot. Do you think Kenya will annex Jubaland? Do some kenyans want to annex Jubaland?
Both Bucaale (jubaland capital) and Hargeisa (SL capital) consider themselves as successors to the former British dependencies.
Jubaland was British from the 1880s until 1925. Thats 45 years. Then it was Italian for 15 years, and reverted to being under the British Military Administration (Somali) in the 1940s. So thats 55 years that Jubaland was British.
Why doesn't Hargeisa make irredentist claims for Jubaland considering their similarity in that both evoke their British past?
