The dude has had bust after bust draft since Scot McCloughan left town and is probably the reason more than anything for this step back
I get that he was instrumental in building a Super Bowl team (though much of the heavy work was done while Scot McCloughan was also in the building), but since the win, the roster has deteriorated steadily. Consider:
*Relatively few home runs in the draft (DK, Lockett, Reed, Lewis, Clark, Griffin).
*Every first round pick has been been mediocre at best (jury still out on Brooks).
*Every trade involving a first round pick has been a “lose” (Griffin, Adams).
*Steady decline of the offensive line, from top notch to bottoming out by about 2016.
*Defense lacking any strengths, necessitating trades for aging reinforcements (Diggs, Dunlap).
*Few red/blue chip players (Wilson, Metcalf, Lockett, Wagner, Brown). Four of which are in the back half of their career.
*Few building blocks/trade chips should they choose to rebuild.
I hear consistent respect and love for John Schneider, but here we are.
So I was a big fan of Smallville and John played Clark Kent's dad. I like the casting of his parents better than any other series had done in the past. When Jonathan Kent suddenly died in the series I saw that it was because he died in real life and they had to write him out much like the guy from GLEE.
I saw many of the reunion and comicon panels and he was never in any of them, obviously. I even recall Tom Wopat in an interview talking about their co-starring in Dukes of Hazzard. Just now, I see on the front page of a "news" site that John Schneider is keeping busy these days with 2 movies coming out on the same day! This is the first time I've seen or heard anything of his name since then.
I know, I know people will say that it is because he was only killed off on the show but it wasn't that way for me. Much like Betty White dying and being alive. I recall where I was and what I was doing (restaurant eating sushi with friend) when it came across the CNN news feed with her picture birth/death date and they were playing clips of old game shows and all that kind of stuff and it went on for days! All you saw on CNN was Betty White's life, then one day she is on a new TV series and game show and you just have to smh
Edit: so I didn't bother searching for residue because it is usually so few and far between I didn't care to do so BUT I figured why not and I had not seen this before I posted but it appears only 2 DAYS AGO there was an "internet death hoax" on John Schneider so I now say this is when he "returned" into the reality I am currently in at the moment. That is too coincidental.
