Like many of you, I was sold by the /u/barian_fostate film review of Peppers a few days ago. Most if it makes a great deal of sense, and if you haven't seen it, I highly encourage you to [Check it out] (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pW4HK4HXEi0).
The basis of the film review was that the majority of arguments against Peppers are explained with how the coaches used him. He's a SS but was used more in a LB role becuase of defensive personnel. Well I was sold and suddenly he was one of the players I wanted the most at #28.
But I just thought of something. If that's the case, why aren't Harbs and Brown out there fixing public perception? If you have an stud of a football player, who was a leader on the team for years, who sacrificed his draft stock for the good of the team, shouldn't the coaches do a solid for him, and drive that narrative?
Maybe I'm overestimating our influence. Maybe Harbs and Brown are saying this exact thing to NFL execs but don't care about the media knowing. That still seems like it would be disloyal to your player. We know NFL teams pay attention to media during draft season. Ravens assistant GM Eric Decosta said last year that he constantly checks mocks.
So in my view, keeping this narrative from the media is still affecting his stock. So what am I missing here? The story is that Jabrill is this misunderstood safety who on top of being an all world athlete with incredible versatility is also a selfless team player. That's a pretty great draft period story and the fact that this is the first we're hearing about it leads me to question it's validity.
