A list of puns related to "Italian resistance movement"
Didn't know where to ask but I want to learn more about the Italian resistance during the second world war, specifically the part that communists and Republicans played in it.
The resistance to the Nazi (and their allies) occupations during WWII is well-known: the Maquis, the partisans, and so on. Even if many of these are highly complex in organization, co-operation and goals, and some of these verge into local "civil wars" type conflicts, fighting each other as well as (instead of?) the Axis (or Soviets?)
My question is were there similar - or distinctly different - in the Pacific and Asian theaters? I assume there were Chinese partisans, and maybe such in the Philippines but they somehow don't have the same profile as the anti-Nazi ones. So, what was the shape(s) of resistance? Were there any that resisted the Allies? Or the Japanese AND the Allies? How were they the same or different than in Europe? Than each other? Why aren't they as well known as the "famous" ones?
For the sake of this question, I'm defining resistance as being non-national-military (so not like units that were cut off and so operated behind-the-lines), and more civilian-into-arms oriented.
If been thinking about this a lot recently. Modern Technologies make it already possible to find nearly any criminal if the crime is bad enough. If you plant a bomb somewhere CCTVs and facial recognition software would be able to find out who planted the bomb. Even if you wear a mask, if there is enough surveillance the Shilβvati could backtrack your movement to the point where you put it on, or to where you disapear and some guy with a mask shows up.
There might be ways to get around that but there is also DNA testing. You will almost certainly leave genetic evidence at a crime scene, even with the best precautions. If you actually get injured in an attempt to kill a Shilβvati Marine, blood that you left behind will make sure that you are found out.
Since the Shilβvati are a technologically advanced totalitarian empire, I see no real reason why they wouldn't use those technologies. They may even have way better Methods.
That dosen't mean that attacks are impossible but you could in most cases only do one, because you will be identified.
The only thing a Resistance movement could do is hide in forests or atleast away from civilization, permanently. I doubt that this could be pulled of, since you have to get supplies from somwhere and if you have any kind of large base, it will be discoverd.
The wilderness would be just about the only place where you could hide for a bit and in many places in the world there is little wilderness that is big enough for a large resistance movement to stay undetected.
Areas where the Shilβvati have next to zero controll could also be somewhat save but if you do something that attracts enough attention, you will probably be found out.
A mass uprisings could maybe let you get away with actually killing Shilβvati soldiers, assuming the conflict is big enough that it isn't practical to detain everyone.
I guess only people who are ok with getting locked up forever could do something which probably means that any resistance wouldn't be very effective, since you don't stay an active member for long and nearly everyone would be unexperienced
Reading Alien Nation made me think of that, but damn it dosen't look good for actual future resistance movements against totalitarian regimes.
If anyone has diffrent thoughts about this topic, I would love to hear it. Because this made me kind of depressed.
Also i researched way to much on how to avoid all of those technologies, lets hope i didn't end up on a watch list xD
Hey everyone - Iβve got a question with regards to a faction.
Iβm DMing a WFRP campaign and I am looking for inspiration, or material already a part of the canon, for an anarchist-type resistance movement, group, etc. I began some homebrew material for one and have had difficulties integrating into my campaign. Anything you have would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, and, erm, uhhhhhh, blood for the Blood God.
