So this "Operation Sandbox" is all about LIMITING our options, instead of the opposite. That's cool.

New TTK = fewer guns to use

Spotting mechanic = less stealth/flanking

Community Games = No ToW progression (still work in progress though)

Why is this being called Operation Sandbox, when in reality our options are being limited like this?

Weapon box buffs and airdrops have revealed just how pitiful some of the locked rooms are on Interchange and Reserve

I love the changes we've seen in the past two weeks. Really good stuff, and it adds another way to find higher-end gear that isn't just 'buy it from traders/Flea (when possible)'. But, it makes certain rooms look really, really sad.

Namely:

  1. KIBA - the current iteration is awful. It seems to bounce between 'great' and 'dogshite' every alternate wipe. Now that we've got a source of multiple different weapons in the one concentrated area via airdrops, I think it'd be totally fine to buff both the attachment spawns and what spawns on the wall. I've already said this in the past but I think a bunch of gucci 'civilian' setups added into the static pool would work thematically and be worth grabbing for top-end parts. TX-15s, .366 AKs with Magpul furniture, FLIRs on M700s, shit like that. What you'd expect to find in a more 'boutique' gun store.

  2. the armoury rooms on Reserve - ORB, AO, TB, the MP rooms, you get the idea. These are lucky to spawn bog-standard 5.45 AKs at the best of times. Considering they're meant to be surplus Russian army stores we should probably see a greater variety in what's there - AKMs, the SVDS, the AK-12 when it's added in (probably soon given the progress shots we saw last year), the AS VAL and VSS, the RPK-16 and ASh-12, you get the idea. These should be exciting to loot. Currently they're a big blob of mediocrity.

In addition, I think for all higher-end weapon locations, including stuff like Red and Violet rooms on top of what I've already mentioned, you could add two things:

  • an armour case - a 5x5 box dedicated to all your clothing needs. Plate carriers, rigs, helmets, headsets and maybe the fabric materials like cordura and ripstop. Not always going to spawn anything good, but certainly worth checking if you have access to it. Limit it to these super high-end areas, so there's more incentive to get these keys.

  • more ammo packs - currently you can only really get a few specific types of ammo in these things, and it's usually just shitty 5.45 PS/PRS or if you're lucky, BP, BT, maybe BS. + a couple of additional boxes nobody takes (Warmageddon anyone?). Having a greater variety dedicated to a bunch of different ammunition, especially the Russian stuff, would be great. You could also have spam cans as super rare spawns that would function as a mini ammo box early on and come with something like 200-500 rounds of a given type. I think it'd be really cool to pull out a bunch of 7N1 and have to clench your arsecheeks al

Don’t ever stay at any of the hotels of the 71/161 interchange. Nor rent an apartment at the continent.

I have made the mistake of booking the super 8 off this interchange while getting an apartment. It was absolutely horrible. Drug needles, bad cleanliness, bedbugs, roaches, etc… and a friend of mine booked a hotel called β€œtravelodge” when he was getting an apartment and he had the same issue. These hotels have also been hotspots for child sex trafficking in the area.

Donβ€˜t ever do it in whatever situation you are in. If you are road-tripping or a tourist. Or a resident. It does not matter. Don’t stay at any of the hotels off this interchange. If your a tourist or a roadtripper, you should either go up north and stay at the hotels off the 270/23 interchange. Or if you want more options. Go up north to Polaris. If you want to be closer to downtown. Go south to downtown.

Even the Crowne plaza in the area is overpriced and disappointing for what you pay.

Also don’t rent an apartment at the continent either. A guy I know has rented an apartment over there. And it was just as bad as the nearby hotels.

French gambling regulator ANJ, has warned sports betting operators against limiting the sports bets of their customers following complaints

Gamblers have reported operators to the regulator for consistently refusing to accept wagers made at advertised odds or a refusal to accept bets on a given event. The number of complaints received has risen by 17% in the last reporting period leading the ANJ to take action and rule on the legality of such limitations and restrictions on sports betting.

According to two pieces of legislation published in October 2019 and March 2021, player protections are such that any refusal to adhere to advertised odds or betting product prices is, in fact, illegal and contrary to both French gambling laws and consumer protections.

With this in mind, the ANJ contacted all operators to remind them of their responsibilities towards their customers.

In its announcement, the ANJ stated:

>β€œAN OPERATOR WHO ADVERTISES TO THE PUBLIC AN OFFER OF ONLINE SPORTS BETTING AT SPECIFIC ODDS CANNOT REFUSE OR LIMIT THE BETS OF PLAYERS WHO ACCEPT THIS OFFER, UNLESS THEY HAVE A LEGITIMATE REASON.”

The announcement goes on to explain that failing to fulfill an offer constitutes a refusal to provide a service to a customer, a practice that is prohibited by Article L. 121-11 of the Consumer Code and punishable as a fifth class offense. This is classed as unfair commercial practice.

An operator who offers a bet to the public and who refuses to register a customer’s stakes for any reason not considered legitimate could also, depending on the circumstances, be charged with deceptive commercial practices referred to in the consumer code.

The operator may, however, refuse or limit a player’s bets for legitimate reasons. This legitimate reason may arise from the following cases:

  • Prevention of excessive or pathological gambling and underage gambling
  • The fight against fraud, money laundering and the financing of terrorism

In such cases, the operator must prove the validity of the reason for refusal before limiting a customer’s actions.

Operators who persist in such betting limiting practices without justifying a legitimate reason risk being prosecuted before the Sanctions Commission of the National Gaming Authority.

Thoughts on limiting the office of US president to a single 6 year term..?

-Allow a little more time in office to really make a difference and/or clean up the mess from a previous administration.

-If an impeachment is warranted, congress may actually follow through with it and take the steps to remove them from office, instead of using the β€œwait and let the voters decide in a few months” excuse.

-The president could focus on actually doing their job without concern or distractions about a re-election.

(Usually the last 1-1/2 to 2 yrs of a first term is spent campaigning for a second term)

I’m interested to hear everyone’s thoughts and if you can come up with any other pros or possibly cons to this idea.

The logistics of limiting healthcare for the unvaccinated.

There seems to be a large, and growing, amount of discussion on this subreddit about the possibility of limited access to healthcare for those who are not vaccinated against coronavirus. Leaving the ethics of this aside for the purposes of this discussion, I don't think those suggesting this properly understand the logistical challenges of such a policy.

I'm not looking to open a debate about the ethics - these are complicated, and I suspect we would never reach agreement. However, my opinion (as a emergency medicine doctor with almost a decade's experience of the NHS) is that the logistics of this are insurmountable - I would challenge anyone proposing such a policy to answer the following three questions:

  1. How do we reliably establish vaccination status?

Some information to consider before answering this:

  • Getting this right is critically important, refusing someone healthcare that they are at a high chance of dying without on the basis of incorrect or missing information would be disastrous - whatever solution is proposed to this needs to be robust.
  • The NHS does not have a centralised healthcare record system. There is some limited access to notes between GP surgeries, and occasionally between GP surgeries and their local hospital - this is far from universal. Various solutions to this have been proposed, attempted, and failed over the last 20 years - creating a centralised national healthcare record system quickly is not a feasible solution.
  • How would you manage those who have been vaccinated abroad? - foreign nationals with UK work visas all have a right to use NHS services (and indeed have paid for them twice, once through taxation, and once through the NHS surcharge on their visa fee), how would you verify their vaccination status if they had been vaccinated abroad? How would you avoid this creating a black market for less secure fraudulent foreign proof of vaccination (e.g. US CDC cards)?
  • How would you deal with those who could not be identified - either because they were unconscious (or otherwise unable to identify themselves), or because their details did not match those of an identified individual on whatever system you adopt. If you assume all these people are unvaccinated, you risk unfairly denying some of them care. If you assume they are vaccinated you create a huge incentive for unvaccinated individuals to book into hospital with a fake name.
  • How do you prevent individuals from giving the details of another (vaccinated)
