A list of puns related to "Illithid"
Long story short, I thought it'd be funny to make a 1 INT charname because I like making heavily intellectually disabled characters that mongo their way through the game (like in Fallout New Vegas where you actually get low INT chat options). Little did I know that illithids steal intelligence stat, and if you go below 1... yeah...
That being said, after recently painstakingly clearing the Illithid city in Underdark by praying to the gods to not have my mc's intellect or brain devoured and a metric shit ton of save reloading, I was wondering, how you guys deal with them? What's the proper strategy?
I think about speccing on the card.
The reason is that he seems to be pretty great with ninjas. He draws cards and lets the blocked ninjas go back to hand. Seems good. What I like is that the card is pretty cheap, atm. EA Foils go for about 2β¬ in EU if the card goes up to 6-10 would be nice. In addition I heard that AFR wasnt bought that much, which means there is less supply of the card.
What are your thoughts?
I'm running a game that will eventually reveal an ancient aboleth to be the BBEG. This aboleth has taken upon itself the title that comes with being the "strongest aberration", a title that mostly only existed in the now long since lost aboleth civilizations. However, this title was not given to the aboleth, but simply taken due to its increasingly large ego. And it is currently on a journey to consolidate power in any way possible. I toyed with the idea of it coming across an illithid colony ruled by an elder brain and wanting to expand its influence by merging with and assimilating the brain into itself in order to gain control over the hivemind. My only concern is the process by which that would happen. It could certainly eat the elder brain if the latter is caught off guard somehow, but I was hoping to be able to show a form of synthesis between the two. If anyone has any suggestions on how the aboleth might go about the process of merging the two, it would be greatly appreciated!
Background:Spelljammer/Sci-fi
intro campaign and Unfortunately my players have unleashed some pretty serious Mindflayer forces amidst a planet of Dinosaurs.
Query: With small brains in mind I wonder how much psychic styled damage and/or abilities to add to already physically imposing creatures.
And also just factoring utilization of such creatures. None exist to my knowledge so I wanted some input from the team here. Thanks in advance for any help.
I met my wife in the waiting room of a trauma therapist's office. Both of us had just suffered major injuries. We were swapping stories and I come to find out that she had been stabbed by her ex-husband in the gut, and he was on the run. After a while, I found myself falling for her, and after a while longer, we had gotten married (And the shitty ex got caught).
The problem arose about a week ago, when I was getting my brain rations from the government. (For context, my set of caverns uses criminals for brain rations). As I was checking out the memories I had acquired, I found one very strong one... of this guy stabbing someone. As I dug deeper however, I found out they were stabbing my (their-ex) wife. And now I've been feeling the urge to "finish the job" so to say.
I haven't told her yet... but I'm worried of what would happen if I told her I was having these (new) urges. And on top of that, she's still working through the trauma this asshole gave her. I'm worried having these memories may be a deal breaker for an already complicated relationship.
If anyone has any advice and/or experience with this, it would be very much appreciated.

Hoping to have a quest involving some Illithids hiring the party to do something for them, a very "the enemy of my enemy" like situation. However, I think it would be very impactful to have the Illithids approach the party, hands up as in a truce, saying "We wish to speak to you ______" but I'm not sure what to put in the blank. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions? Brainlets or something along those lines seems a little too silly and doesn't sound right to me but that's all I can come up with. Ideally it's something impactful, belittling, and elitist to show the true disdain these creatures have for normal humanoids.
I'm playing with the Forgotten Realms races mod and Character Editor. My illithids all have the psychopath and cannibal traits added using Character Editor (because by default the Forgotten Realms illithids have morals and feel bad about killing people for brains, ugh), and yet if I execute a non-illithid colonist with a firing squad (draft everyone, order the illithids to gun the hapless colonist down), despite not being sad about the colonist's death or caring if they get a proper burial, their opinion of whoever got the last hit in drops by -30 because they killed a colonist. Any way to make them *actually* not care about killing the brainmeat slaves they brought along?
Edit: kludgey solution, but I've found that Character Editor, while it doesn't let me remove specific relationship-altering events, it does let me add ones. So I'm just counteracting the -30 by adding a +30 event for the same individual each time. Still, it bugs me that psychopaths still care about that sort of thing.
Hello fellow Idlers'
Could you help me with a formation for this level please. I have all the champions except for the Evergreens from Ulkoria onwards.
TIA from a very poor Googler :)
I know that others on this sub-reddit have made their own attempts at converting one of the more iconic monsters from D&D into PF2, but this is my version that I have adapted for my homebrew game. I followed the GMG Creating Monster chapter, building it from the ground up within the system while using the 3.5 stats as inspiration for my decisions. Notably, I made it at level 7 as that is what I needed for my story but I believe it still stands up to the spirit of its forebears. Please let me know what you think or if I need to make any changes, either in the damage of its abilities or in any wording. Cheers.
Liches have Vecna, Devils and Demons have Asmodeus and Orcus, Dragons have Tiamat- do the Mind Flayers have a similar divine villain which seems to crop up everywhere?

Hey all. xx
So I've wanted to change the Id Ascendant quest for some time now, with the intent of injecting a little more 'horror' into this supposedly horror-themed campaign. My solution as it stands, is to replace the Gnome Ceremorphs with a single monster which now calls the wrecked nautiloid its home. As such, I created a monster which I've been calling 'The Aberrant Stillborn'.
The idea behind it is that the Illithids aboard the Id Ascendant were experimenting, essentially with the goal of creating a god-like bioweapon able to bend time and space to its will. They were successful in creating a number of larval specimens, however none were deemed powerful enough to warrant further study. All specimens were terminated, their remains placed within a waste disposal tank to be jettisoned from the ship. But before they had a chance to do so, the nautiloid crash-landed in Icewind Dale. While the Illithids attempted to repair the ship and send out a distress beacon, something within the amalgam of dead specimens woke up, forming itself a body from the deceased biomass. One by one it fed on the crew, draining their vitality and discarding their lifeless husks in the snow. Now it threatens to make its way to civilisation and continue its grim feast...
After coming up with the backstory for the Aberrant Stillborn, I realized I'd then have to create a stat block for this bad boy. Given that I've never made my own monster before, I'd love some advice on how to make this thing balanced for a party of 3 PCs (I expect them to be between lvl 5 - 7 when they pick up the quest). Definitely want to provide them with a decent enough challenge for this one, especially considering there's an Oath of the Watchers Paladin in the party and I'm very aware that their 'Abjure the Extraplanar' ability has the capacity to really turn the tide against anything Aberration.
Let me know what you think, and thanks in advance! xx
Is there any evidence or stories of a illithid tadpole being implanted into another illithid? I have been thinking about it, and the illithid does have a brain also. The only logically reason I could think of; would be if two illithid rivals were away from the elder brain. It would be a way to kill a rival. If the new monster survived what would it be like?
The title sums up my question.
I'm prepping an encounter with an outcast illithid who is going to try and wheel and deal its way into not losing its lair (it just got it started) and getting to keep its life. I wasn't sure if there's any terms they use for non-illithids I could use to add to the flavor of the exchange.
So my human GF thinks I only like her for her money. I also like her for her sweet supple brain personality. How do I show her I do not just want to live in her mansion but also want to eat her tasty brain just want to live with her. I mean she almost accused me of cheating when i said she should invite some of her friends over so I could get a taste of them. Any advice on how to proceed?
Btw just some advice. Play a lot of video games and don't read to many books. It makes your brains a lot more tastier gives your brain a different kind of excersize and is better for it.
Itβs been really amazing seeing them grow over the past couple hundred years weβve been dating, but weβre getting to the point in our relationship where they are asking me to join with them. I would love to share their consciousness, donβt get me wrong, but Iβm bound to the nine hells by eternal contract (part of the job) and Iβm pretty sure it would carry over to the entire hivemind if we were to join. Iβve looked over the blood contract thousands of times, and the legalese is rock solid about this kind of thing - no loopholes found yet.
How do I break this news to them? I thought about approaching an archfey to look over the contract for loopholes, but my past experience with fey has always led to warfare. Any advice on how to approach someone for help? Iβm at a loss right now.
