Went down a rabbit hole and somehow ended up on a Wikipedia page about hyper real numbers. I don’t even like math, but had never heard of them before so my interest was piqued (sp?). I tried reading the page but I still have no idea what they are or are used for?
I've currently trying to dabble with the idea of infinity and I came across this entirely new set of numbers. Could someone please explain what they are, how we get them, etc in a preferably ELI5-ish way? The wiki-pages and other links I could go through weren't very understandable.

So this is one of those things that is very basic but yet manages to keep you thinking about it for hours... So 10 / 3 = 3,333.., but 3,333... * 3 = 9,999... Does this mean that 9,999... = 10? I'm confused
I have been bouncing between different appraoches to NSA for a while, often giving up on one only to try pick it up later. I have been trying to find what I dont like about the approaches and I think it is the transfer theorem. So is there anyway to get desired properties from the hyperreals without proving/defining Transfer? For example are we able to show the hyperintegers have integer properties without defering to transfer, could we say construct the hyperintegers first, prove the desired qualities, and go on to construct the hyperreationals/hyperreals from this?
So can we use a dedikind cut to form infinitesimals much like the extended real number system has infinities?

Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.

Hello! This is a follow-up post on the survey I made at the end of January. I hope the people who responded are still interested in the results even though this got kind of delayed due to the whole Mingyu thing, as I didn't want to post before it got cleared up. Considering how Pledis seems to have now given their last statement unless something comes up, I figured it's appropriate to post :) But do keep in mind that the survey was conducted before that.
First a few things to note: If you can tell that all the graphs and images have been made with free online tools and good ol' ms paint... No you don't <3 Seriously though I had no idea how to work with the 30-slice pie charts google forms gave me. For some there was no other way than to summarize the responses in text; those are written in this post. Others I've put into pictures. They are not pretty at best and embarrassing at worst but please bear with them :) If they're unreadable or you want to ask more specific numbers, just comment!
Some of the responses were a little ambiguous (eg. which mafia episode they meant, did they mean the song "I Don't Know" or did they not know what to answer etc.). I did my best decoding the responses clearly victimized by autocorrect or very bad spelling mistakes but obviously there might be some mistakes and some answers had to be didscarded. Oh, and for "best MV", I simply forgot Getting Closer. Sorry, darkventeen fans!
