See above. We are a simple couple, looking for a holiday rental so we can get a feel for the island while working remotely. About 3 months or more. Seems websites and realtors are geared towards high-ish end tourists. Wanting to meet locals and be near to beach and/or mountains. Thanks in advance :)
Iโm in England; we run a number of holiday lets which are aimed at contractors. All the properties are โno frillsโ having only basic amenities, this is reflected in the price and locations. This guest and his family book and stay for three nights however only complain after their stay has ended.
His complaints are very lengthy but in brief; No blinds in the kitchen, crumbs in the toaster, a tea stained tea towel, one mattress out of 8 beds has a mark underneath the mattress protector, the Victorian basement steps are a danger, this is despite this area not being available for guest use. A full wheely bin despite bin collection day being on a Tuesday. The property wasnโt covid secure and a danger to public health etc.
Our policy is to not offer refunds after a stay has been completed, as weโve incurred costs in hosting. Yesterday I received a 13 page document in the post highlighting his perceived issues as well as issues with the third party booking site with threats to take the matter further.
Any advice on how to proceed? The guy was very rude and aggressive toward our cleaners, out of principle Iโm minded to respond but stick to our policy.
