Hercule Poirot Puns

I just finished a game on Nintendo Switch where you get to play Hercule Poirot solving a typical Agatha Christie murder. It takes place in a mansion that (of course) gets snowed in with a murderer inside. It’s up to you to interview all the guests and staff, and search the premises for clues, to get to the bottom of the murder. It’s like being inside a Christie novel.

I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it to anybody in this sub who has a Switch!

I'm not really familiar with Agatha Christie's fiction and I want to start with something really short about Hercule Poirot (I really love the tv series). I'd like to read something short, something around 20-30 pages long. I really need a basic material for an essay at the university so it would be cool if there were interesting tropes typical for Golden Age of Detective Fiction. Would you recommend me some interesting titles?

Hello there! There was this book from Agatha Christie, one of her Hercule Poirot cases. I have been grinding my brain forever, but I can't remember the title, even though I still have the story in mind. An old, wealthy man is murdered. Drowned in his bathtub. He lived in this giant mansion with his two daughters, one has two kids (a son and a daughter) and the other one is really introverted and basically exists through her dog. The daughter is a bit disfigured due to almost drowning as a child and the dog of the aunt tryed to save her and scratched her with his paw. The aunt had to restrain the dog by tying it to a tree and only then saved her nice, wich the mother, when she figured it out years later, took with a grain of salt and commited the murder to blame the murder on her sister for it.

Has anybody a clue what that one could be?

I know this is not Strike-related, but I’m assuming there’s a few Agatha Christie fans on this sub. Is it worth reading all of Hercule Poirot (Murder on the Orient Express) books in the series? I’ve read mixed about only reading certain books vs reading all of them.

Recently, I read my first Agatha Christie book: Death on the Nile, and I absolutely loved it. I researched some more books by her, but I can't seem to pick one since there are so many! Can you guys give me some recommendations that are Hercule Poirot mysteries?

Just finished reading Hercule Poirot's Christmas (for the first time, it turns out, though I was convinced I'd read it before), and found myself very intrigued by the idea of Lydia's miniature gardens. Is anyone aware of any recreations of what they may have looked like? I'd love to see pictures so I can visualise them properly.

The murderer in And Then There Were None decides that Hercule Poirot is responsible for the death of >!Dr. Sheppard!< in The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and invites him to Soldier Island. Can he solve the mystery and stop the killings in time?

TLDR; i don’t understand the Poirot canon.

i just started reading Agatha Christie about a month ago and i am confused. the first Hercule Poirot story i read was Murder on the Orient Express, which begins in Syria with the narrator referencing a suicide of a general or something (obviously talking about the previous story in the Poirot chronology). i wanted to read whatever that was, & the back of my copy of And Then There Were None has all the Hercule Poirot novels listed in AN order, so i bought the one listed right before Murder on the Orient Express, Lord Edgeware Dies (the edition i received on thriftbooks was 13 at Dinner.) LO AND BEHOLD, this book doesn’t take place anywhere NEAR Syria and is about an English lord who dies (something i could’ve guessed reading the title, i suppose). i looked into it, and i guess the list of the Poirot stories on the back of the book was the publication order. for some reason, i’m struggling to wrap my head around that. did Agatha Christie really publish Murder on the Orient Express with the first chapter referencing a story she hadn’t released yet? that seems odd to me! also, why would modern publications of her books list the Hercule Poirot mysteries in the order in which they were published instead of in chronological order? that also seems odd! i’m gathering that Christie had some sort of grand plan with Hercule Poirot and she knew what his journey would be before she wrote it, but if that was the case, why wouldn’t she do it in order? are there even any answers to my questions?

I've just discovered there's a game with an original story about Poirot's early years. Does anybody know how is it?

I mean, it's obviously noncanonical as it wasn't written by Agatha Christie herself I suppose, but would you say the writers at least tried to replicate her style? Or is it a complete rubbish and bears the name of Agatha Christie just to milk her fame for money?

I enjoy both Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot as detectives and respect both of their approaches to solving crimes. Both of their methods basically show that if you pay attention to the minute details that everyone else takes for granted then the truth will always reveal itself to you. For Sherlock  it's paying attention to the forensic details that people leave behind at scenes or on their person while for Poirot it's paying attention to the people themselves. Both methods have their benefits and can be trusted to produce results, and they also have believable issues that can either be exploited or lead to the missing of important clues. That being said , I wonder how the two detectives would fair when handling each other's cases and side characters? I imagine the side characters of Sherlock wouldn't like Poirot since he is more likely to take credit for and boast about his work. The only reason that many police men tolerate Sherlock is because he leaves the majority of the credit to them. In terms of cases I think that Poirot might have been better suited to handle A Scandle in Bohemia where he'd face off against Irene Adler. He doesn't seem like he'd underestimate her to the degree that Sherlock did and might have even talked her into giving him the compromising pictures.  I haven't thought about which cases Sherlock would be good at as I'm just now thinking about this. Which cases do you think he'd have excelled at? Probably ones where his affinity for hands-on detective work  would be put to use.
