A list of puns related to "HannaβMcEuen"
Once again, it's the offseason, which means it's time for some high quality posts. If you missed part 1 from last year where I did the B1G I will link it in the comments.
Hi there. Relatively new reader, first time poster. Enjoy a little early 90s hobby history.
Recently Netflix premiered Saturday Morning All Star Hits a parody of late 80s and late 90s children's programming created by Saturday Night Live alumni Kyle Mooney. In each episode a series of animated shorts are hosted by two radical 90s brothers named Skip & Treybor (both played by Mooney.) Many of the shows parodied in the series are fairly obvious spoofs, for example βCreate-A-Crittersβ is riff on βpuffy cheekβ plush toy inspired shows like Care Bears and Popples. Also much of much of the humor is based on human failing. Randy for instance is a college aged depressed parody of Denver the Last Dinosaur who binge drinks as a coping mechanism. Skip and Treybor develop a toxic case of sibling rivalry after a voice acting role propels Skip to greater fame and popularity. Meanwhile reality keeps crashing in on Skip & Treybor's neon colored lo-fi world. Cartoon segments abruptly end or become drastically retooled while an OJ Simpson-esc trial begins to interrupt the show.
While you don't need to be a 90s kid to appreciate the show's humor what many have missed is that Mooney is satirizing a very specific programming block that marked the death knell for children's animation on one of America's largest and most respected networks.
A Titan In Decline
In the 80s NBC was a major player on Saturday Mornings largely thanks to such hits as Smurfs, Alvin & The Chipmunks, and Disney's Adventures of the Gummie Bears. However by the time 1990 came along the network was in dire straights. The Gummie Bears bounced off the network to ABC in 1989 only to bounce again to the widely popular Disney Afternoon block in 1990. The Smurfs would experience an awkward retool 1989 that sent them on time traveling adventures in an attempt at a season-long serialized story that was ultimately unresolved due to the show's cancellation. In 1990 Alvin & The Chipmunks would become Chipmunks Go To The Movies and spend their last season doing parodies of timely films like Tim Burton's Batman and Robocop.
While NBC was slowly losing their strongest shows they were failing to make new hits. Shows like The New Archies and a bizarre animated adaptation of The Karate Kid were outright flops. The network also made baffling decisions. In 1988 an animated adaptation of Jim Henson's Fraggle Rock was canceled not due to low ratings

You may have been in lockdown, you may have been forced to work under some form of duress, you may have lost a loved one to the disease, you may be left with long term side effects of the illness, you may have found that regular food, housing, and/or medical care is less attainable or more expensive now.
We could have been better off months ago, but disinformation and lies have been allowed to spread readily through inaction and malice, and have dragged this on at the cost of lives. There are those who deny that the pandemic even exists, there are those who think that wearing a mask will literally suffocate you, there are those who think it's no worse than a regular flu virus, that it's a bioweapon, and everything in between. This volume of blatant misinformation is problematic and dangerous.
It is clear that even after promising to tackle the problem of misinformation on this site, nothing of substance has been done aside from quarantining a medium sized subreddit, which barely reduces traffic and does little to stop misinformation.
The disinformation and false information is manifold. There is no area of recognised safety procedures when it comes to battling the spread of a dangerous virus that is not under attack here. All empirically proven measures which can help save lives are under attack. Masks work^1 , but not according to the propaganda. The vaccine is safe,^2 it is not untested, and it is not experimental technology or DNA manipulation, but people getting their information from these propaganda subreddits are told the opposite. Social distancing is valuable^3 , but people are being persuaded to not even do that. Cynical plays on emotion are made. Trying to keep children safe is painted as "child abuse". Lies are repeated so frequently that misinformed people begin to believe them wholeheartedly, trusting that they can't be incorrect because they're surrounded by people who believe it also.
There needs to be a more active involvement in preventing the spread of the disinformation that is keeping us within a pandemic that at this point is entirely manageable. The main problem with a concerted disinformation campaign is that such a message attains an air of legitimacy through sheer volume of repetition. This is dangerous when it comes

(Hey before we get started I'd like to thank everyone who was so kind in their responses to my first post on NBC's 1991 line-up. This one I thought was going to be a simple story of a mockbuster but hoo-boy did I find a rabbit hole. Enjoy!)
With their use of rotoscope animation, painted backgrounds, and let's face it herky-jerky character movement, Filmation made cartoons that were instantly recognizable to Gen X-ers and older Millennials. The studio first made a name for itself in the 1960s with hit programs like βThe New Adventures of Superman'' and βThe Archie Show.β Over the course of the 70s the studio would continue to keep going with such shows as βStar Trek: The Animated Series,β βFat Albert & The Cosby Kids,β and βThe New Adventures of Flash Gordon.β They would also experiment in live action programming such as 1974's βShazam!β adaptation. During this time they would also produce theatrical movies 1974's βTreasure Island'' and 1974's βOliver Twist.β
However Filmation's greatest success came in the early 1980s with βHe-Man & The Masters of the Universe.β The show would run for 130 episodes which was twice the run of a typical syndicated cartoon from that time. Furthermore He-Man was a cultural phenomenon well beyond the toys and cartoons. The show would inspire comic books, a live stage tour a live stage tour, a girl-centric spin-off βShe-Ra,β a theatrical animated movie βSecret of the Sword,β and even a 1987 live-action film starring Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella. (A film whose rather troubled production could feed another thread...)
Yet seemingly at the peak of their power Filmation would begin a sudden and inescapable decline. One that perhaps wouldn't have happened without a suspiciously familiar puppet's pseudo-sequel. But before we talk about that we have to discuss Filmation and Mattel's failed follow-up to He-Man. βShe-Ra: The Princess of Power '' was never quite the franchise player her brother was in ratings or toy sales but still managed to run a respectable 93 episodes (again remember most syndicated shows ran for 65 episodes.) Filmation's Ghost Busters was such a failure I may have to make an entire thread about it alone. However it was a one-two punch for Filmation's downfall. Strangely enough both flops are tied to Chr

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

The hype, the hopium, "kids" promoting projects with no clue about the business side of things, social media influencers who get paid obscene fees to promote projects as "solid investments" while cashing in 5-6 figure incomes from promoting their views and building token pools. "Just buy & HODL unless you want to be left behind". All these "experts" on crypto that you are buying ideas from are nothing more than opportunists, or even worse, simple charlatans. These people simply realized they can make some solid money off of dumb and gullible who will do anything to get rich and in the process make themselves rich. The history is full of such jokers.
Sure, everything works until it doesn't. The saturation point is coming faster and faster unless you can get Elon to get his SpaceX to Mars soon and sell some crypto to the Martians...that is if he can find any.
(Most of the BTC praise is that it is a hedge against FEDs money-printing and rampant inflation it causes. ALTcoins will of course follow suit. I'll come back to this part a bit later, let's focus on something else for a short moment.)
What is blockchain? According to Don Tapscott, author of Blockchain revolution "...blockchain is an incorruptible digital ledger of economic transactions that can be programmed to record not just financial transactions but virtually anything of value."I will not go into which projects will succeed and which won't, there will surely arrive solutions that will blow our minds in the years to come, but let's focus on the discrepancies between blockchain, the idea of blockchain, the insane valuations of some projects and the REAL WORLD solutions that most seem to completely ignore. Too many are simply lost in the hype they've swallowed, hook and sink, from others who themselves have zero clue as to how this all works.
Let's go back to the 90s and dot-com mania where a simple .com registration of a company could lead to companies being valued in 9-10-11-etc. figures $$$ overnight. Never mind not having any product to back even 0,01% of those valuations. The idea behind internet-based companies was that you no longer needed brick & mortar shops and everything would be dealt with online. This is a simple and clever idea, we can all agree, but let's see how long it took for the REAL WORLD to catch up to this idea....to this day, which is 20-25 years later, brick & mortar shops are still a VERY important part of all infrastructure across the world. The "dot-com"

Outagamie County Circuit Court Judge Mark McGinnis granted ThedaCare's request Thursday to temporarily block seven of its employees who had applied for and accepted jobs at Ascension from beginning work there on Monday until the health system could find replacements for them.
Each of the employees were employed at-will, meaning they were not under an obligation to stay at ThedaCare for a certain amount of time.
One of the employees, after approaching ThedaCare with the chance to match the offers they'd been given, wrote in a letter to McGinnis, that they were told "the long term expense to ThedaCare was not worth the short term cost," and no counter-offer would be made.
How is the judge's action legal?

To the shock of the nation, incumbent President George Dewey issued a letter to the nation announcing that he shall not seek the presidency for a second term, yet clarifying that he will accept any nomination offered to him. The letter has paved the way for the candidacy of Senator William McKinley after years of draft movements, while other candidates have sprung forth. Meanwhile, a movement to renominate Dewey persists with the backing of a motley coalition of small government liberals, anti-prohibitionists, free traders, and La Follette-aligned progressives.
#The Candidates
William McKinley: William McKinley first gained attention as a young Congressman for being the Federal Republican candidate for office best performing among union voters, leading to his appointment as Secretary of Labor by President Bragg. Yet, at the height of the Cuban Crisis, McKinley reluctantly agreed to support the usage of the army against striking workers, a decision that has haunted his political career ever since. After a term as Ohioβs Governor, McKinley served as the regular Federal Republican nominee for Vice President under Frederick Douglass in 1888 and has served as a Senator from Ohio since 1893. While a prohibitionist, an expansionist, and a conservative, the 61 year old McKinley has become among the few figures popular in all corners of the Federal Republican Party, with progressives holding him in esteem for his loyal support of President Houston prior to the Progressive bolt and anti-imperialists respecting him for his initial alliance with them prior to the Pacific War. Additionally, McKinley has won the support of most of the party's leading black office holders
Shelby M. Cullom: 75 year old "Uncle Shelby" served as Secretary of State in the Houston Administration, presiding over the expansion of the Navy, Pacific War, and Treaties of Hong Kong and Lisbon, leading imperialists, including President Houston, to label him as the greatest foreign policy mind in American history. Cullom began his career as Illinois' young Federalist Governor before forming the state Federal Republican alliance and winning election to the Senate, where he became the premier Senate ally of Speaker of the House John D. White, the man credited with almost single-handedly building the progressive wing of the Federal Republican Party. Cullom served as White's 1880 front candidate yet broke with him in 1888 over White's opposition to imperialism. This divide led to Cullom's ev

Roosevelt was an energetic personality, and it is clear with his opinions of other presidents. He harshly critiqued President Thomas Jefferson in his book ''The Naval War of 1812'' for shrinking the Navy when it would be needed. He called President Franklin Pierce ''a servile tool of men worse than himself ... ever ready to do any work the slavery leaders set him.'' About John Tyler he said: ''He has been called a mediocre man; but this is unwarranted flattery, he was a politician of monumental littleness.'' Damn, Roosevelt roasting other presidents as if he were roasting meat.
DOMESTIC POLICY
Trust-Busting
The defining policy of the Roosevelt decade was trust-busting, a policy of breaking up monopolies. For those who might not completely understand all of these terms, a monopoly is when big businesses eliminate all competition to stay on the top. They stayed on the top by forming a monopoly, pretty much organizing how business will deal with competition. For those with more imaginative minds, it was pretty much a shield used by businesses. As for trust-busting, it was essentially an initiative to break that shield using various policies. In general, much of Congress was worried what to do since a lot supporting monopolies, believing it was necessary to have consistent top-tier businesses always succeeding.
Roosevelt was, at first, not that much of a trust-buster, but agreed to implement the idea as politician bugged him about it. Even though he became an avid and active trust-buster, he still had some criticisms. For instance, when the Supreme Court ordered the break-up of Standard Oil, in an antitrust lawsuit begun under his administration and completed under Taft, Roosevelt said:
βI do not see what good can come from dissolving the Standard Oil Company into 40 separate companies, all of which will still remain really under the same control. What we should have is a much stricter government supervision of these great companies, but accompanying this supervision should be a recognition of the fact that great combinations have come to stay and we must do them scrupulous justice just as we exact scrupulous justice from them.β
This is not to say Roosevelt was not a trust-buster, he absolutely was. His famous brawls with J. P. Morgan (Northern Securities Company) and John D. Rockefeller (Standard Oil) are well remembered. He also won a few Supreme Court cases, such as [*Swift and Comp

For some reason that only my father knows 24 years into their relationship he decided he was bored and started a relationship with my stepmother.
They decided to move away, my father visited every so often with stepmother but a week before my 24th my βsisterβ (Hanna) was born. For the first year of Hannaβs life I had been spammed with photographs of her which then stopped when I had my son and my father resumed visiting - Hanna wasnβt allowed to visit, stepmother saying she was too young and by now, sheβs 13 soΒ Β I think itβs her choice not to visit, not that Iβm complaining.
I hadnβt planned on marrying but two children later my partner decided that they wanted a wedding. I invited my father, knowing my stepmother wouldnβt be interested in coming (which my father confirmed)
Father told me that Hanna wanted to tag along, I said itβs a child free wedding to which he said sheβs 13 turning 14 - still a child to me!Β Β He asked if sheβd be allowed to visit and stay home the day of the wedding, I said no because I literally just have space for my father.
He said Iβm being stubborn and callous that now is the time to meet my sister, that heβs attempted to introduce us in the past - which is true heβs bought me a plane ticket out there but with two children and work it isnβt so easy to drop everything - apparently Hanna is sad the only direct family she has is my dad and stepmother.

tl;dr: my sister is lesbian, I told her not to tell our parents because they would kick her out and she can't live with me, she told our parents and they kicked her out and I still said she can't live with me.
I (23M) have two younger sisters 'Amanda,' (17F) and 'Hanna,' (14F) who still live with our parents. My older brother, 'Josh,' (26M) is in the military. I have lived on my own since going to university and graduating.
Our parents aren't great people. They're loving to us, but they verge on white supremacists and are blatantly homophobic. They're also very Christian, and because of these things, we don't keep in touch often.
About a month, I was having lunch with Amanda and she came out to me as lesbian. I told her I was proud of her and asked her if she had told anyone else. She said she didn't want to tell Hanna because she's a fair bit younger, and wanted to tell Josh in person. She also said she wanted to tell our parents, but was scared of their reaction.
Since this is her last year in school, I advised her to wait until she was an adult with an income before telling them. I pointed out that since they're very homophobic, she might be kicked out of the house. She asked if, if she told them, she could live with me or Josh. First, no, she can't live with Josh because he's in the military. As for me, I gently but firmly said no. I have a limited income, a tiny flat, and I don't have the money or time to properly care for her. I again advised her to wait until she graduated to tell them. She said that was probably a good idea, and we finished lunch without discussing it further.
Last night, I got a call from Amanda, who was at a friend's house. She said she had decided to tell them because she didn't want to live like someone she wasn't and asked if she could stay at mine. I was pissed, but tried to stay calm. I told her that I stood by what I said before and that she can't live with me.
She started crying and told me I wasn't accepting her and that I was just as bad as our parents before hanging up on me. I felt like shit and a terrible brother but that being said, I had previously told her she couldn't live with me and she only has another term at school before she graduates and can figure herself out without being completely dependent on our parents.
I'm a bit stuck on what to do here, so AITA or am I morally fine?

I put together a playlist for my brother, with some "liner notes" to go along with it. QOTSA is one of my favourite bands, so I thought you guys might like it too.
The focus was on (mostly) music that has been put out in the past 18 months or so (since I last sent him a playlist), but that isn't a hard and fast rule. There's a lot of garage/psych rock on there.
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7hKGaa2T6dymyJjl5mjUtF?si=9fce2fcc374548f2
Here's the notes for each song (wall of text follows, but you might find it useful if you listen to the playlist), and most have a relevant YouTube link for those without spotify:
First up, Ty Segall, Feel Good from the amazing "Harmonizer" album. Full of fuzzed out heavy synth rock, but this track is actually written and performed by his wife Denee, with a very Brit/Euro 80's robot sound, which appears after a high energy burst of guitar. I can't pull the "damn this sounds like <so and so>" influence out of the recesses of my brain, but it's a great homage to that sound. There's a great video with the two of them and an old Ford Fairlane station wagon: https://youtu.be/yI24-fxsigo
Sliding in next with a different take on the same style is Osees (formerly known as Thee Osees, The Osees, The OCs) with "If I Had My Way", written about these COVID times. They've been making a ton of music since the late 90s, and are pillars of the LA scene. I was supposed to see them just before COVID but a business trip got in the way. They are an amazing live act, from what I hear, so as soon as COVID allows I'll try and get out to a show. I love the guitar line that starts this beast out, and the pair of drummers adds a super loose groove (that's actually incredibly synchronized when you watch them live) driving it along. You can see them rehearsing it for their live performances here: https://youtu.be/u73AGFGipA8?t=160
Keeping with the LA theme, I'm dipping back a few years (my excuse is that my son bought me the vinyl this year) to Wand, friends with Ty Segall. High Rise sounds like a fun jam they threw together in the studio and then overlaid it with samples of talking/crowds, pulsed to a beat. When they kick back in after a short quiet stretch, someone does a "woo, woo" during the soaring guitar line that just makes me laugh. Two minutes of fun that sounds like they had a great time making it. Reminds me a bit of "The Camera Eye" from Moving Pictures, and they clearly have Radiohead on the mind as well. They are fun to

Now that I listen to albums, I hardly ever leave the house.
So I am playing TRR and I am on Book 2. The Prince just proposed to me and I said No (Hanna's my LI). Even though we never kissed and I always tried to be realistic in tampering his expectations, the proposal and his speech was so sweet and taking MC back to the places they visited on the first night and getting my dog to present the ring, it was super nice and sweet. But he's a little boring and Hanna is so great, I had to turn him down. Still felt bad for him, he went through a lot of hoops and took the rejection well. Sorry bro, I like you as a friend.
Said if she ever hosts a gender reveal party, when it comes time to pop the balloon she'll spray everyone with water.
Gender is fluid.
Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"
Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
But let me give it a shot.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
Heβs the new temp.
And now Iβm cannelloni
Because she wanted to see the task manager.
