A list of puns related to "Freediving"
It's been two months since my accident, and I have been through pretty much every test recommended to check for heart conditions. All have come back negative. No blockages, no structural anomalies, no electrical problems - nothing.
My cardiologist now thinks the cardiac event was secondary to something else; which is a relief, but that makes the diving a likely primary cause.
I'll be staying away from diving for a long while, doing regular follow-ups with my doctors, and focusing on other hobbies. I hope to come back to the water someday.
Stay safe, and don't dive alone.
So, Iβm doing a fair share of scuba but want to get into freediving also because itβs something new and in the water. Problem is that no one else here shares my view, meaning I dive alone.
The βnever dive aloneβ rule holds in scuba too and I always prefer to dive with a buddy but diving alone in conservative conditions is preferred to not diving at all.
What Iβm asking isnβt if it is safe or not, but for tips to make it safer that arenβt necessarily taught on a regular freediving course.

Thoughts on Ghouling Sharks? Drinking the blood of Tuna?
I know from personal experience the Ocean is very different at night. You can feel the danger.

So right now I have a snorkeling setup with the short fins. I also use a variety of rash guards. I swim in tropical waters.
As I get into freediving, in what order should I upgrade my snorkeling setup to freediving specific gear?
Hi, thank you to all who see this. I have a question. I've been looking into the proper no-fins freediving technique, and it seems to be the breaststroke, but I also find swimming with the dolphin kick much more fun. Is it possible to no-fins freedive with the dolphin kick? And if so, how much efficiency would I be losing/missing out on? Again, thank you so much for your help.
Hi all,
I moved from LA to San Jose and I am looking for a budy to freedive with me. I'm Fii certified and my deepest dive has been 80ft. I've already dived Monastery, but would love to do point lobos.
Dm me if interested!
I live in SW Washington and Iβm looking for free diving locations near here- both pools and natural bodies of water. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated :))
I recently moved from Hawaii back to the east coast of US for reasons out of my control. If Iβm being honest, living in Hawaii was the only time in my life Iβve been truly happy (for obvious reasons) but mainly because I was in the water every day doing what I love most. If you live somewhere away from the ocean, but love free diving and all water sports how often do you make it a priority to go do what you love and how do you cope with possibly not being able to do it on a regular basis. I feel like a part of myself is missing. Do you travel with specific groups? Ways you have gotten creative? My city doesnβt really have anything to offer in the way of resources except for scuba. Ty
For those who menstruate, have you used a menstrual cup or disc while diving? How did it go? Does the pressure affect them at all? I've recently started using them and really like them both, but I haven't gone diving with either of them yet. Just curious what others' experiences with them has been!

Need gear advice?
Many people starting out with freediving come for recommendations on what equipment to purchase. As we are starting out to introduce regular monthly community threads again, we might add a designated one for purchasing questions and advice. Until then, feel free to comment here(Remember, when asking for purchase advice, please be specific about your needs i.e. water temperature you want to dive in, so that people can help you quicker)

Thinking about purchasing some Freediving fins but it would be great if I can use them for scuba as well, lower cost and minimal transport.
Iβve been looking at full super mew, recommended for Freediving but not sure if theyβre good for scuba. Also had a look at beuchat mundial one, and mares but not anything specific.
Does anyone use Freediving fins for scuba? If so, what do you recommend?
first off, I know that this is a dumb question so i don't need every comment to start with how stupid it is. that aside I am curious if anyone has done this before where they just swim up close and stab it.
New freediver here, my question is mainly for pool and length distance both DYN and DNF. Curious how it works, my coach said I should check it out because there's one upcoming and he's participating as well. Why would I go if I know I'm competing again him lol??? I'm not even 1/10 as good. How does it work? Are you actually competing against people? Wouldn't a person who has a personal best just win all the time?

I've been working on making a better freediving computer Since early 2021 and I am at the point where I'm running into the edge of my current technical expertise. Learning how to write good firmware and developing an Android/ IOS App in flutter for my project is exceeding my bandwidth and bringing someone else could speed things up and make the project a whole lot more fun.
About me: I received my undergraduate degree in electrical engineering in Fall 2020, I'm passionate about freediving, and I love hardware. I'm currently located in San Jose, but I am open to folks in either LA or SF. Both have a strong freediving community that we can work with to get feedback and improve the computer.
What is the product? A freediving computer that talks to you via bone conduction, DM for link to website as this subreddit does not allow links from outside reddit.
Where is the product at?
I'm looking for someone who can help me with the following:

Hi guys!
We would be having our AIDA 1 next week. We're excited. However, I saw some YouTube videos that says "avoid diving when you're congested"
I was wondering, there are times when my Allergic Rhinitis triggers when there's dust. Am I still going to be safe when freediving if ever it triggers?
Thanks!
I was able to do a static apnea of 90 seconds, the 80 ft dynamic apnea and the free inmersion even I was getting away of the line (without me wanting). I also had no problem equalizing and I was comfortable at depth even I would have like to last longer. I never got to the point of having spleen contractions, however I think only one of us got it while doing the static. But as you may know, that's more of a mental game. But on the constant weight, I couldn't kick the fins right (according to the instructor) no matter how much I tried. Instead of keeping close to the line going down straight I always ended up way too far from the line. All the time I was swimming in a diagonal way instead of going down straight. We were seven in the class and I'm the only one who failed.
Just bought a Mares Puck Pro+ dive computer - it does not come with a mode for freediving. I intended to use it for casual snorkeling and freediving in addition to proper scuba diving. Was wondering if using βbottom timerβ mode is acceptable for this use case, I think it should not mess up N2 saturation model and surface imtervals, but still provide some interesting data: depth, time, temperature, etc. Thanks in advance for your responses and advice π
Hi! I'm a newly certified open-water freediver looking to get some dives in this winter when I head back to Muscat.
None of my friends in Oman are freedivers, and I'm conscious of putting myself in male-only spaces (am female and don't want to upset anyone).
Does anyone here know of some good resources for dive shop or diving interest groups I could or should connect to that are friendly towards ladies, or ladies only (ideal but not required)?
Many thanks in advance!
I have swam for more than a decade and dived too. How do one even get to free dive 50 M? I have difficulty diving down to 3M in the swimming pool and sometimes out of breath just swimming 25 M horizontally underwater.
Mask equalization can be a critical factor in reaching new depths:
Systematic mask equalization will cause you to lose a significant amount of air that will no longer be available to your ears. While refusing to equalize the mask will result in a mask squeeze and the zombie eyes that go with it.
The challenge is to determine at what depth the last equalization of the mask will take place to ensure that the maximum amount of air is available for your ears while excluding the risk of injury at the targeted depth.
To do this, we can perform a simple calculationβ¦

Hi everyone, I am a student who is studying the digital technology that freedivers use for their training. I am interested in what components of freediving are most important in training. I understand that breath training is a very big aspect, but are there other things that divers tend to focus on? Please feel free to give me any information you find useful. Thank you :)
