A list of puns related to "Filipino middle names"
This is from personal observation, and I am genuinely curious. My Chi-Fil friends have names like Bradford, Philmon, Eurydice , Brent Miller, Alphaeus, Schuyler, Wilbert, Seymour, Gideon, Randall, Randolf, and Wesley.
EDIT: Margaux, Geoffrey, Kaiser, Ludwig, Leopold, Walden
Im not saying only Chinoys do this, nor am i saying that all Chinoys have names like this, but when I do meet someone with a fancy aristocratic name, its usually a Chinese-Filipino. Why does this happen? Maybe im just over-analyzing.
I've been told na it also happens in Singapore and Malaysia
I'm planning to purchase a decent home/condo in manila or near manila and i just realized that as an end user, i'm not the target market of real estate developers. How can working Filipinos afford to buy housing in ncr when the situation is like this. Also not all condominiums offer pag ibig financing. Granted that it has a higher rate, but the additional years in terms of loan maturity does help. Kawawa talaga if you just want a roof over your head.
Hi
I am a UK national married to Filipino lady. We have a baby boy that has been registered as a UK citizen. We explored dual citizenship for our son and a requirement was stated as including one of my wife's middle names on the passport. This sounded ludicrous to me and we went no further as I suspected we may to go through a full on name changing process to ensure all his documents matched. We have decided to revisit this and would like to ask if any readers have heard of such a requirment.
Thanks

Hey guys,
Can you settle a argument for me. I need some people that actually live in the Philippines.
Me and a mate were speaking the other night on discord about Filipino culture. He's planning to go there in a few months for work.
Are traditional Filipino names old fashioned? I'm talking about pre-colonisation, distinctly non Spanish names.
Is that part of Filipino culture entirely, totally dead and you basically just use Spanish names?
Has a single person on this subreddit met anyone at all with an 'indiginious' name? And would you consider it weird if one of your friends said they were naming their kid - Diwata - for instance.
Salamat.
Hello everyone. I am not a FilAm. I am just curious about the names of Filipinos born in the US. In the Philippines, our middle names are set as the last name of our mothers' maiden last names. I don't know if the system allows us to choose our middle names freely, as is the case in thr US. My cousins were born in the Philippines and their middle names were set here before they migrated.
My question is, do you also have a middle name set as your mom's maiden last name?
I heard parents named their children lance a lot.
First post please don't kill me
Edit: i went to sleep and now my inbox is dead, thank you kind strangers for the awards!
I have been scouring the internet for articles, Facebook comments, YouTube comments on images of the violet cuckoo. The closest I can get to translating it is 'pitupit,' as the UP Diksiyonaryo translates 'cuckoo.' Photo by Francis Yap.

Hi Currently trying to compile our resources for filipino culture/info for the new sticky thread.
I personally don't have alot of info about culture or information about filipinos in the Middle East and East Asia. After Canada and the United States, these two regions have the 3rd and fourth biggest amounts of filipino people living there and from the few amount of info I know have some established communities there. So to any filipinos out there who lives there or have alot of info.
You are all welcome to contribute what you think is important. Topics, culture and issues about the diaspora from that region.
Husband and I are looking for names to name our baby on the way. When looking for Filipino names, we often find Spanish names or other names popular in the Philippines, but not of actual Filipino Origin. Does anyone here know of a good resource for Filipino names before we were colonized?
We are expecting a little girl early April and have settled on Liliana. I would like to honor my father who passed a couple of years ago. His name started with an L and middle name a K and many people just called him βL.K.β And that is also how he signed his name. This was adopted since he was a Jr. to distinguish him from his dad (in a positive way).
Babyβs last name also starts with an βLiβ and is 3 syllables. I would like something that starts with a K and is short to make it flow since itβs already a mouthful of a name.
Any ideas?! I thought about just βKayβ but would like to keep it more elegant if possible.
I wasnβt planning to for a while, and thought Iβd just go without a legal middle name -but for work, one of my documents used my name as Theo (chosen name) E. (initial of my dead name) and then my last name. Iβm not sure why they decided to combine my deadname and real name like that? But I actually kinda liked it, so I chose my new middle name to be Edmund! Itβs super small but having two masculine names gives me double the euphoria lol.
Just wondering if this was something anybody else did!!
How much health insurance coverage does the average middle class Filipino need? What level of coverage do people get if one can afford whatever level one chooses?
I'm curious because domestic Philippine peso plans have coverage of up to about P1.5 million which looks low, but domestic US dollar plans have coverage of not less than US$500,000 (about P25 million) which looks very high.
For example, what is the expected cost of a major hospitalization in the Philippines, even in 20-30 years? Surely not P25 million?
