A list of puns related to "Equitable Stroke Control"
Based on my understanding of the new handicap system ESC limits a double bogey max on each hole despite myself being a 9.1 hdcp index. With this new rule in place Iβve still had Competition scores posted by committees not include ESC in 2 straight tournaments. Does ESC not include (C) Tournament scores. I feel as if my handicap index should actually be lower than as is.
So I recently dropped my handicap below 20. Now my ESC is more favorable. I don't remember the exact numbers, but the max over-par on a hole, for handicap purposes, has dropped.
Doesn't that mean, from a purely mathematical standpoint (and not skill), that it is easier to keep my handicap, particularly when I am more likely to gain strokes on one or two holes than over several? For example, last weekend I shot a 94, with 18 (yes 18) of those strokes coming on two holes. When my handicap was higher, my ESC score was higher so it was hard to bring my average down. Now that my handicap is lower, my ESC score is lower (92 in this case) and that does a lot to keep my handicap down.
Not complaining (it certainly helps me!), but just seems interesting from a mathematical standpoint that they chose to include that phenomenon with ESC, which is a good idea for its primary goal of getting rid of outlier holes.
So Iβm an 8 handicap which means my max is a double bogey. I get that itβs eliminating the outliers but most players arenβt consistent and a lower handicap player will most likely count any penalty stroke.
Just seems odd
I've been seeing a lot of posts from 22s, 26s, who are shooting 90, 91, 92 and it got me wondering, since I'm shooting around mid 90s right now but haven't started up my handicap, does everyone utilize equitable stroke control? Or is it utilized for you when you punch in your scores? I didn't know about this until the other day and I was amazed by the idea that a single digit handicap could not card worse than double bogey, while great in practice (assuming if your an 8 handicap and you snowman a hole once in an 18) does this system ever get abused? Do people who don't put in all their scores (aka only the good ones) also get the cheap benefit of equitable stroke control past what they should because they are cheating themselves out of the proper handicap?
Also, since the course just opened last week and I haven't paid my GHIN fee, I'm going to start up a handicap on May 1, am I cheating myself? By (ideally) getting the kinks and high rounds out of my game, am I hypothetically not holding when my scores will be higher, hence giving me the advantage an extra stroke ESC if I can somehow find my way down to a sub 20 handicap when I start entering scores?
Thanks for the insight.
How many of you adjust your score card before entering for your handicap? For beginners do you even know what it is?
Me and some golf buddies are going on a little golf trip to Mesquite/Utah in a couple weeks and we decided to make it in to a little overall net low Β tournament using our handicaps. There has been some confusion amongst us about βequitable stroke controlβ in tournaments? Just curious if other people have encountered this? I know in our rounds for fun on the weekends the most I can take on a hole is a double bogey because Iβm a 7 hcp. I guess the confusion comes from it being a net low tournament and that every stroke should count? Iβd love it if someone could break this down for me. Thanksβ¦ And check out our tournament websiteβ¦ www.barrelsandbirdies.com
After seeing that Donald was fined an amount less than the cost of a used car for choking Lucas Patrick, something that would warrant charges of criminal assault and possibly attempted murder to anyone who isn't a national sports superstar, I decided to take a look at the recent fines and suspensions for this season, and it's just mind-boggling how arbitrary a lot of these amounts are.
The most notable, in my opinion, is that Chandler Jones was fined the same amount...for wearing a non-uniformed shirt under his jersey and showing it off in honor of the late Freddie Joe Nunn. Possibly even more egregious is Jerry Jeudy getting fined $12,875 for momentarily drawing an imaginary bow and arrow, even though he didn't even finish the celebration, after a standard passing play.
I could go through and mention every taunting fine listed at the same amount, but that would be asinine. It's evidently clear that the NFL doesn't care about the sanctity of the game anymore, and sees these infractions as ways to fund their donations and nothing more. To them, it's about the money. And before you say, "well, it all goes to charity, they don't make that money!" Don't kid yourself. How do you think the rich get tax exemptions? By fining players, they're circumventing paying directly out of their (slush-)funds and profit margins and putting the bill onto players making minor infractions.
At this point, this sport is unwatchable for me. When a player like Myles Garrett can swing a player's helmet like a mace at that player's unprotected head and still be allowed to make millions in this sport, there's something fundamentally wrong with the game and it needs to change. Aaron Donald should be suspended at least for the next game, in my opinion, or at the very least, fined the same amount, or more, as Joey Bosa hurting a ref's feelings ($28,917).
Link to a report detailing the state of things in 2021:
Link to a picture from the report zooming in on particular wealth disparities in different regions:
Thereβs also the fact that the disproportionately poorer regions include:
virtually all living in Black areas
virtually all living in Brown (Middle East, India) areas
most living in Asian areas
most living in Hispanic/Mestizo areas
As such, do you think that predominantly wealthy white countries have a moral burden to help out, whether through forgiving any debts poorer countries may owe, through reparations for things like slavery, through funding infrastructure projects etc?
Let me know your thoughts.

Recently i ended up in the ER due to heart palpitations and passing out. Doctors concluded that it was from my birth control. My mom had a similar thing and my cousin actually had a stroke at age 26 for unknown reasons which she now suspects was from her birth control and clotting. I know multiple other people who have similar symptoms that started when they started birth control and stopped as soon as they stopped taking it. I found some forums online with hundreds of women who've had strokes or severe heart issues and doctors concluded it was from the birth control.
But other than that there is barely any information out there on this subject which is weird since i know many people who have been in this situation. My cardiologist says no connection between birth control and strokes have been made.
Have any of you guys had any symptoms like this or know someone who did?
I had a stroke 9 years ago which may have been caused by birth control pills. So now I cant take them but I'd like to have sex without a condom with my partner. Are copper iuds safe? anyone been in a similar situation?
Just wanted to pass it on because none of my doctors said anything until my current gyno. She said thereβs alternatives for those of us with PCOS to keep hormones in check, but that itβs the elevated estrogen + aura migraines that leads to stroke risk. I only had wavy lines once and Iβm at risk so I gotta switch to something else :(
Stay safe ladies!
edit: to specify, itβs the combination pill with estrogen thatβs dangerous not progesterone only. that one is safe
Major League Baseball has announced a lockout of Players, shutting down the baseball industry.
This shutdown is not required by law or by contract. The owners, who voted unanimously in favour of the lockout, have chosen a tactic to pressure Players into relinquishing their rights and benefits. This is an attempt to divide labour support for fair and collective bargaining.
At /r/TorontoBlueJays, we support all peopleβs right to collective work action, and stand firmly with their players as they fight for fair working conditions, benefits, and growth of the game we love.
Hey guys, So first off I wanna say that Iβm no scientist, I know a little about dopamine and the benefits of detoxing and stuff like that. I had a stroke about 4-5 years ago and I recovered pretty quickly and im very very lucky too be in the spot that im in right now. But I was wondering if there has been any studyβs about detoxing for muscle control? My muscles are paralyzed basically too the point where my brain is making them fire on all cylinders when Iβm not trying too. Iβm going too try it whether there is any studyβs with that or not but it is very interesting.
We can't blame them either most crypto investors are just people looking to get rich quick while pretending to care about the economic situation as a whole. Most crypto investors are no more concerned about the dire situation of the economy than the average person. For many of those investing in cryptocurrencies, the goal is simply to get rich, not to build a better world. If you are in this for building a better world there are a hundred things you can do alongside investing crypto. How many people here are doing that?
Crypto was created to root out corruption and untrustworthy intermediaries and to give the power back to the people. I hope we go back to the roots of the movement.
The greatest progressive movements the world has ever seen always came from small sections of people that thought differently from the majority. I hope we, as a group, will see beyond the money and this movement will steer us back on track and make the world a better place.
Hello,
I have been taking oral birth control pills (Portia) for a long time. However, I changed my PCP, and the new PCP took me off & the pills and prescribed me Depo injection instead. She said it is because oral birth control pills and migrain might cause strokes. I hate Depo. It makes my mood swing, depress, and I gain a lot of weight since (almost 10%). Anybody have problem taking oral birth control pills while migraine? Any suggestions are appreciated!
Edit: I forgot to mention that it is migraine with aura. Thanks.

This is a small elementary and middle school. We used to do a spirit week with some of the following days: Wear red day (our main school color) Pajama day Dress to impress (fancyish clothes) Character (movie, book, ectβ¦) Wacky
It was cancelled this year due to inequity in access to red clothing, ectβ¦
I am all for equity, but this seems a little over the top. Many students choose not to participate anyways. But taking away the option makes me sad.
Thoughts?
