A list of puns related to "Eau de toilette"
Eau de Toilette obviously comes from French, but the word toilette has a different meaning in French. While nowadays it means the ceramic seat in your bathroom, in the archaic sense of the word, it was somewhat different.
In French toile means lace, like the material that women's robes dresses were made of. Since the era that women wore those robes dresses coalesced with a general lack of bathing. Therefore women wore massive amounts of perfume to cover up their stench. Therefore eau de toilette came to refer to a type of perfume.
Hope this clears some stuff up !
EDIT : Eau does in fact mean water in French, sorry I didn't mention that mdr
Hi, I'm quite new to fragrance. I got the Calvin Klein Euphoria men as a gift and I wanna try it out. I looked it up and I see that it's eau de toilette which lasts shorter than normal fragrance? I usually spray it on both of my wrists and use my wrist to touch my neck and I feel like it doesn't last really long throughout the day. How do I make the smell last longer?
I didn't realise there were two different 'Dior Sauvages'. What's the difference between the two?
I bought this as an after gym fragrance, just due to it being cheap at the drug store. I sometimes will work out on lunch break and use it before work and I find myself loving it more and more. I can actually start to pick up on the cinnamon notes in there and itโs very pleasant. How do you all in the fragrance community see this fragrance ?
New or used
Iโve read conflicting information on this, is there two versions of it?
My dad has been talking about liking the Dior Sauvage cologne for a really long time now and hasn't gotten it so I am going to get him a set for christmas, but I'm not sure which one is the "normal" or "standard" type! Dior sells all three, but isn't super helpful on which one is the standard day-to-day cologne. I have personally never really been too into perfumes, although what I currently have is apparently an eau de toilette - I just didn't realize there was a difference! Any advice?
