A list of puns related to "ERoom"
Drug discovery is super important but how is it a profitable business?
Eroom's law states that the resources to discover a new drug doubles every 9 years or so.
I therefore don't understand how drug discovery is a profitable area of biotech.
While new drugs have great potential to save lives, this area cannot survive if the expenses are so high.
Will drug discovery eventually come screeching to a halt, and remain a dead-end subject of academia?
As many of you know, I have a personal interest in the applications of blockchain technology in healthcare. This week, I attended a conference where someone spoke about the concept of "Eroom's Law". I had never heard of this concept, but it is a rather smart play on words of the well known "Moore's Law" in reverse.
A quick recap, Moore's Law describes the exponential decrease in the cost of computational power as the number of transistors in a dense integrated circuit (IC) doubles about every two years.
This leads to something like this, whereby computational power increases over time, at a decreased cost:

This trend does not apply exactly to crypto, in fact crypto is often able to outperform this law. Anyhow, for the sake of this discussion let's now look at the world of drug discovery.
Over the years, the price of bringing a newly approved therapy to patients has been increasing massively. This has led to some describing this as "Eroom's Law", seeing the reverse trend to Moore's law. Hence, we're now saying this trend buckle a little bit, with the convergence of computation (namely AI & machine learning) lead to decreases in the cost of drug discovery.

Here, I believe the logical next step is to introduce blockchain technology into clinical trials. Already in scientific literature ethereum smart contracts are being discussed as the future of clinical trials. If scaled (and decreased fees in the future) this could lead to a further price decrease and other huge benefits such as increased integrity, data security and cross nation trials.
I hope this is of some interest to you, I am really just thinking out loud of these exciting ideas that I came across this week and thought you may be interested. It is still very early stages and the transition could be slow. Here in the UK, most healthcare data is pretty much on sheets of paper. It will perhaps be a labours transition, but it could transform the future of healthcare data.
However, the next generation of medics/life scientists are mostly going through some formal training on tech in healthcare, introducing them to topics such as the blockchain, AI & machine learning. Therefore, I think there is great hope that this
... keep reading on reddit β‘This question has been bugging me for a long time, and kind of piggybacks off of previous questions asked here in the past couple days. I tried to get some questions answered in the AMA with Dr. Darnell, but I think I was too late. Here are the following sources I've read:
https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/how-to-fight-erooms-law/
https://d4-pharma.com/breaking-erooms-law/

Yet, I'm still confused by the following:
Ultimately...can Eroom's law ever be overcome? Or is it just the bane of drug discovery?
I was inspired to prepare and post this from this post: Apex maybe started with Ally, but they can go many other places next by u/Longjumping_College

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
I guess the concept didn't work
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
Do your worst!
How the hell am I suppose to know when itβs raining in Sweden?
Mathematical puns makes me number
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.

Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"
Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
