A list of puns related to "Dural venous sinuses"
I just looked back at my MRV results. I knew I had shortening of the right transverse sinus. However I read on to see that after mentioning that, the results said there was clinical concern for dural venous sinus thrombosis and to consider a ct venography. I am 12 weeks pregnant and at that time I was only 6 weeks pregnant. However the way my results are written make me feel like it was possible for that to have been ruled out since I had 1 mri and 2 MRVs within a week of each other.
However, since the hospital put in each one the notes all say the exact same thing even though they were on different days and different places.
Should I be worried. I am not on treatment. I am only under the care of a opthamologist. There are no neuro ops in knoxville and I cant seem to get a referral to a neurologist and the only ones who said they could see me said it wouldnt be until summer..
HELP. I'm freaking out I'm going to stroke out or die now.
So I have symptoms of Venous Sinus Stenosis mentioned Here. And I went to my ENT and even got a MRI. She said that the reports are normal and there is nothing to worry. Just ignore the pulsing sound and it will go away. I also have very minor hearing loss is same ear. Should I get a second opinion, refer to another type of doctor or just do what she said. I even sent her about Venous Sinus Stenosis asking about it(on chat) and she didn't even mention it on our call. She just said MRIs are fine and there is nothing to worry. Am I being Paranoid?
From 2001 through 2015, 39 Olmsted County residents developed acute incident CVST. A total of 29 patients (74.4%) had a predisposing venous thromboembolism risk factor (eg, infection, active cancer, or oral contraceptives [for women]) within 92 days before the event. The median age at diagnosis was 41 years (range, 22-84 years); 22 residents with CVST (56.4%) were female. The overall age- and sex-adjusted CVST incidence was 2.34 per 100β―000 person-years (PY) (95% CI, 1.60-3.08 per 100β―000 PY). Age-adjusted CVST rates for female and male individuals were 2.46 per 100β―000 PY (95% CI, 1.43-3.49 per 100β―000 PY) and 2.34 per 100β―000 PY (95% CI, 1.22-3.46 per 100β―000 PY), respectively. Men aged 65 years or older had the highest CVST rate (6.22 per 100β―000 PY; 95% CI, 2.50-12.82 per 100β―000 PY), followed by women aged 18 to 29 years (4.71 per 100β―000 person-years; 95% CI, 2.26-8.66 per 100β―000 PY) (Table 1).
As of May 7, 2021, 8β―727β―851 Ad26.COV2.S vaccine doses had been administered in the US; 46 potential CVST events occurring within 92 days after Ad26.COV2.S vaccination were reported to VAERS. Eight events were excluded because they were potentially duplicate reports (4) or were not objectively diagnosed (4). Twenty-seven of 38 objectively diagnosed cases of CVST after Ad26.COV2.S vaccination (71.1%) occurred in female individuals. The median patient age was 45 years (range, 19-75 years). The median time from vaccination to CVST was 9 days (IQR, 6-13 days; range, 1-51 days); 31 of 38 cases of CVST (81.6%) occurred within 15 days after vaccination, and 36 (94.7%) occurred within 30 days.
The overall incidence rate of postβAd26.COV2.S vaccination CVST was 8.65 per 100β―000 PY (95% CI, 5.88-12.2
... keep reading on reddit β‘Well itβs been an emotional 3 weeks. Woke up on a Tuesday feeling great. I sneezed, and instantly felt like I got hit on the head. The odd thing was the headache came instantly, but went away within about 5 minutes except for a pressure around my temple area that didnβt go away, and worsened when I bent over.
Iβm a bit of a hypochondriac so I went to my doctor who scheduled me a cta scan on a Saturday. The following Monday felt normal accept now the pressure had not gone away for almost a week. Around 2 pm I remember looking at my phone and the letters turning to words I couldnβt make sense of. I also couldnβt speak correctly and was rushed to the hospital.
I had another episode in the hospital so they kept me overnight and confirmed my episodes were seizures and I had another one overnight.
The next day they scheduled me for an MRI, and about half an hour before I got the results back from the CTA scan which were all clear. I had a brief period of relief as once I got the MRI the results showed a clot the size of my finger and internal bleeding which was causing the pressure they said. I spent 11 days in the hospital, 6 of which were in the ICU.
Now Iβm home, and left feeling hopeless. They have no idea what caused this, and I have zero risk factors they said accept for cancer. They want to do a whole body ct scan to rule that out. Iβm extremely concerned about the radiation at my age as this will be my third ct scan and a whole body which is a ton of radiation.
Since I have great timing my wedding is also this Saturday. Iβm not sure if I should get the scan before, or after god forbid I get bad news. I asked for an MRI instead and said Iβd even pay cash but my doctor said they must do an MRI instead.
Iβm sorry for the long post after just joining this community. Iβm
just a bit concerned with no experience with any of this. I went from being super active, eating well, and going to the gym for 5 days a week to now thinking the only thing that could have caused this is some sort of cancer.
Has anyone else on this board had this type of clot, and found the cause?
In March of this year, I developed a spontaneous abdominal infection at the shunt drainage site for my VP shunt. The infection was spreading along the drainage tube, and bacteria was present under the skin covering the VP Shunt site. Luckily, bacteria hadn't spread to my brain.
To combat the infection, my neurologist performed emergency surgery to remove the shunt. I spent weeks on intravenous antibiotics to get rid of the infection.
After the infection cleared, I agreed to stenting of my Venous Sinus Stenosis, which is a novel treatment for IIH. Although fairly new, the treatment has a fairly high rate of success, and comparatively low risk of side effects.
Unfortunately, I had unexpected computations. The stenting worked. Follow-up imaging showed no sign of damage, the stent was in place, and vessels were visibly functioning. Yet, I didn't get any relief from the procedure.
We had to wait for months, spent countless hours in specialist offices. One by one, Neuro-opthalmology, Neurology and interventional radiology recommended shunt placement.
My neurosurgeon, wanted to cross his Ts and Dot his Is, so sent me back to radiology to have a cathlab image studdy done. This is where we found something unexpected. There stents are in place and the formally narrowed blood vessels are open as expected. But my body apparently prefers this uneven vascular structure, and just narrowed the blood vessels at the sites immediately after the stents. I now have all new stenoses.
So it's back to the drawing board, and I'll have to keep waiting.

NOTE: there's a discrepancy between the 24 cases recorded in the MHRA analysis print and the 22 cases reported in the MHRA commentary below - that may be a genuine error, or just be down to different reporting dates.
MHRA commentary:
> Blood clots > >Our rigorous review into the UK reports of rare and specific types of blood clots is ongoing. Up to and including 24 March, we have received 22 reports of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) and 8 reports of other thrombosis events with low platelets, out of a total of 18.1 million doses of COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca given by that date. There were no reports for the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine. To note, the current analysis prints include data up to and including the 21 March. > > On the basis of this ongoing review, the benefits of the vaccines against COVID-19 continue to outweigh any risks and you should continue to get your vaccine when invited to do so.
Thrombo-embolic events > > Our review has looked in detail at the 30 reports of blood clots with low platelet counts received up to and including 24 March. These reports have been analysed by MHRA scientists and clinicians, as well as by the Commission on Human Medicines (CHM), as part of an ongoing review. > >The risk of having this specific type of blood clot is very small. ... keep reading on reddit β‘I [24F] was diagnosed with venous sinus thrombosis on July 4th. I was told the cause was likely from birth control but may have also been from the COVID vaccine that I received 5 days before. Basically I have clotting in the sinus part of my brain and was told I would have likely had a fatal seizure if I didnβt admit myself to the hospital when I did. They started me on what I believe was called heparin for 2 days and switched me to eliquis (blood thinner). I feel a lot better 2 weeks later. I have a slight headache, my ears are a little sensitive, but the worst thing is my vision. Iβm seeing double and itβs absolutely driving me insane. My primary doctor admitted to me that she did not know much about my condition because itβs very rare. My other problem is that I cannot see a neurologist until October (all booked up). I donβt know if this double vision is normal and if itβs permanent? The whole thing has me very scared. I guess my question is more about my eyes, but also curious to see if anyone else may have some knowledge on this βillnessβ. The doctors were very kind but not the best at explaining things to me. I was not given any idea how long it would take to recover either. Any help would be great

I had a blood clot in my head, the same type that is currently under investigation as a potential side effect of the J&J vaccine. I was 21 and female at the time. I would be happy to answer any questions about my experience.
So Victoria has had one case of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis with a possible link to the AstraZeneca.
In the last year how many cases of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis have occurred in Victoria?
