A list of puns related to "Digital photo frame"
I'm looking to buy an Aura Mason or Mason Luxe digital photo frame for my mother and their website lists a bunch of Costco locations that carry their frames. I don't see them on Costco.com so I can't find an item number or know what model that have. Can anyone tell me what model, price, and item number? I'd like to call the Costco location nearest my parents house to see if they have one so my dad can pick it up from there, but I know they want an item number when I call.
Thanks in advance, /r/Costco friends!
So my sister bought my parents a digital picture frame for Christmas and said I could add photos to it through an app. I thought it was a great idea. The problem is, she apparently didnβt research how reliable the app is. I was about to download it and then realized it has 17 reviews and an average of 1.2 stars on the App Store. Thatβs some of the worst reviews Iβve ever seen on any app. Then to top it off, the developer is Chinese. Now I want to make it clear that Iβm not someone who is all paranoid thinking the Chinese are out to get us and all that. Itβs just the combination of the bad reviews and the Chinese developer that raise some red flags for me. The other apps made by this developer have terrible reviews also. My husband and I have some major concerns about uploading our childβs photos onto a database when we arenβt absolutely certain about their privacy and security policies. Not to mention, we donβt know anything about the frame itself, and that could be equally disreputable. We donβt have Facebook because of similar reasons. We want to protect our childβs privacy.
So tell me, Reddit. Are we being crazy here or do you think our concerns are legitimate?
TLDR: donβt want to upload my childβs pictures to my parentβs digital photo frame because the app is questionable and potentially sketchy

I would like to get a large digital photo frame for my elderly parents. The main criteria to me are:
- good screen
- ability to upload pictures online
- ability to email pictures to the frame
- ability to get the most value without a paid membership
The two models that I am looking at are Aluratek 15" ($199) and Nixplay 15" ($247). Is it worth overpaying for Nixplay? Are there any other large digital frames that you would recommend?
My wife has the idea in her head to get a digital photo frame for her parents for Christmas. We have a two year old and we are always sending them photos. Doing so via a photo frame does sound pretty cool.
She's looking at dedicated frames on Best Buy. Some close to $200. Obviously those frames are ONLY about the photos so they will always be front and center.
But what about a Nest Hub? Her parents use a Google Home and love it, so they are already on board with Google.
Obviously it's doable... I'm guessing we just add a shared Google Photos album to their Hub and then we just share photos to that album and they'll show up on their hub.
How exactly do they see the photos though? Is there a photo app on the Hub? Or is it similar to my Google TV where it goes into a screensaver mode after so many minutes of no input and starts showing photos from a linked album?
I'm trying to find out if its possible to buy/make a digital photo frame but then use an nfc reader and nfc tags to change the source for the photos.
So for example I'd have a USB/external hdd or perhaps Google drive or alternatives and then separate pictures by folders. I'm thinking a folder for different locations/events, so a tag assigned for photos from a city we visited or an anniversary date etc. And that tag attached to a keyring we got or some small souvenir from the place/event. So you could wave the item over an nfc reader and the photo frame would start showing pictures from a different source folder.
Anyone been able to do that sort of thing? I've had a look online and can't see anything specifically referencing this kind of use.
I am looking for a frame that will pull from a certain photo album on Google Photos automagically. I have an album that is shared to my parents that will automatically put pictures of my son in it so they can keep up with the album without any real effort. I am looking for a frame that will just display the album and update itself without any interaction (emailing, using an app to pic the photos, etc.). Does this exist?
I know that the nest hubs do this but they are an Alexa home so I don't want to start them down the Google Home path.
Hi there, I am sorry if there are no requests allowed - please delete it if it is not suited to post here.
My mother lives half the globe around and I would like to build a digital photo frame for her, where my sister and I could send photos to (I am a software developer, but the hardware experience is lacking for me) - I came across the Skylight photo frame, but the price of 160β¬~ seems ridiculous
If someone has or knows about a tutorial in this direction, I would be very grateful if they could suggest it here
Hi, sorry in advance for the wall-of-text,
I just got a Facebook portal frame from my family this Christmas. I will be relocating for work to a different country, and they were really counting on the shared photo album feature. The idea was that they would be able to send photos to my portal, and it would auto-sync.
This is something advertised by Facebook but, it's completely broken. Let me give an example. We've all downloaded the Portal app (all using android). And I've connected my app on my phone to the portal. I've created a shared album. I am prompted to add Facebook friends. I add my family, and the tooltip says "People you share this album with can add photos to it. They can also view and display album photos on their Portal". For the specific album preferences, I have "Automatically add new photos without review" enabled, and "Collaborative" enabled. In theory my entire family can manage this album, and we should all see the photos we add. And the portal should show all of the photos we all add. This was the entire reason they got me the portal for Christmas, so we can share the digital picture frame.
Anyway, that's not working as expected! My family can see the album, and add photos I've added to it. But I can't see any of the photos they add on my portal app (on my phone), and I can't see it on my portal in the photos app. What's worse is that, after an hour, I might see the photos they tried to upload! However they don't show up in the photos app, they just show up in the slideshow on the screensaver. I can't see their photos in the photos app (on the portal), or in the portal app on my phone. They are impossible to manage because they only exist in the screensaver.
Does anyone know a way around this? I've contacted support but I am waiting to hear back. If you can try this out yourself, It would let me know if this is a localized issue or not. I have the most up-to-date software, it updated when I first set it up yesterday. And we all just downloaded the app from the Google play store. I just wonder if someone else has solved this issue. I am planning to make my own app, or website to do this if there's no solution...
I've been looking at digital photo frames for my parents and they're pretty expensive for the ones that update with new photos remotely (i.e. I could send photos of my family to their frame at home).
To me, it would make sense to have a $10 app that programs as a "screensaver" type app, giving my Google (or Apple) account permission to upload whatever photos we want when the tablet is not in use. I could just build a frame to set the tablet in when my parents aren't using the tablet.
I don't see anything like this in the app store, but it makes sense to me to save buying a new device for such a simple service.
For Xmas I bought several skylight frames. One for my wife, mom, sister and MIL.
I am looking for a way to easily batch send photos to these devices via email from my phone.
Shortcuts seem to be the answer but I am not finding one in the gallery that does this, so I am setting to create.
1.) select photos - done 2.) count photos - done 3.) use count to perform a loop where an email is sent per photo - I am stuck.
I plan to create a shorty for each family member so the email will be static.
Thoughts?
Hi all. I want to give my parents a photo frame that can show my Google photo albums (kids and family holidays, etc.). I was thinking of a nest hub but thought they won't use any smart features so a bit of a waste. So just looking for something that can read from Google photos with no direct fiddling (parents stay in another country) and will automatically update as I load new ones on. Any good possibilities? I see the nixplay is supposed to. Thanks. Alan
My Grandma is not very good with tech and so I wanted to send her a gift of a Digital Photo frame so she can see slideslow of pics of her family from all over the world.
I need a set and forget kind of app for her so that she doesn't need to do anything but just launch the app.
I need to be able to configure and update the app remotely, particularly
- Link the app to my Google Drive or web folder or a facebook album even and let the app slideshow through those images. That way i can just update the images and everything just works.
- change intervals for slideshow
Also, it would be nice if the app can work offline since internet is not reliable for my grandma, so perhaps an APp that scans and downloads/syncs with the remote resource, and saves the media offline.
Free or Premium app is fine.
I can search for this on google and all but im hoping for some kind recommendations from around here.
Thank you
This has been infuriating to search for online as all I get are results for digital photo frames that connect to the internet and various cloud services. I'm looking for something simpler - something that can just have photos uploaded directly to it from a phone / tablet via bluetooth or a direct wifi connection. No internet involvement.
The reason for this is is this would be a gift for my grandmother, who is not technology savvy and doesn't have internet at her house. The ability for myself / family to simply add photos to it from our phones / tablets when there via a local direct connection would be ideal. Even if it's one of the uber smart modern ones that offers this as an option as well, that would be acceptable.
I've found a few true "dumb" ones that only take a SD / USB and/or have built in storage, but this would be a last resort as it's not convenient to update. May be what I have to resort to, perhaps with a system of 2 USB drives I can rotate, but again seems the above should be something available.
Anyone?
