A list of puns related to "Dharmachakra"
I donโt own or wear any jewelry so this is the first thing of that nature Iโve purchased. I got it simply because I want a constant physical reminder of the eightfold path, as the weight of my thoughts and actions will be hanging from my shoulders. I think having something physically attached to you serves as a constant reminder of what that symbol represents and means to you. I just think for me personally the path to liberation is easier when every time you look down you can see it, as there can no longer be the mental gymnastics of excusing actions due to ignorance. So many westerners display tacky symbols of a religion they donโt understand and I donโt want to come off that way. Itโs simply as a reminder to me and me only. I donโt see an issue with my reasoning, but Iโd love to hear some other input on this matter
I've been trying to find a definitive answer to this question. It seems most practitioners around the world are comfortable with others having and displaying Buddhist tats, so long as they are above the waist. I'm struggling to figure out though if Thai people are ok with it, and the law regarding this. I've got a small one my upper back/shoulders in mind if it makes a difference. If anyone could weigh in with a good source I would be very grateful.
Hello
Recently I noticed that my practice had stagnated and I was becoming depressed and suffering more. I decided to refocus on my practice, increase my meditation and listen to more teachers. My suffering has begun to decrease since.
The desire to get a dharmachakra tattoo arose soon after, as a way to express commitment in the dharma. I would like it on my chest below my breasts (just under the rib cage). Especially how it relates to the eight fold path and four noble truths.
I recently read an article on some Thai people being offended by the placement of some Buddhist tattoos.
Does anyone have any advice or guidance as regards Buddhist tattoos? Typical traditions? Taboos? Etc.
I was also planning to have Dhukkha (in Sanskrit) at some point on my left arm as part of a larger interfaith religious tattoo.
Many thanks
Who knows from where I can buy this kind beautiful Dharmachakra?
I found beautiful photo of Dharmachakra or Dharma wheel. Wheel is best and most perfect sign in the world, coz wheels of chariot, ship or car makes our life much simple - we will find right way. Dharma wheel is very special wheel - guiding and bringing us through life to the beyond - to absolute freedom and wisdom.
Dharmachakra's meaning - The Buddhaโs Noble Eightfold Path:

I was showing him specifically the symbol of the 8-spoked wheel, but without the deer when he said that. Any experiences or opinions? Am I ignorant to think it's a general symbol?
if not, whats the difference? and why they exists?
Took me a little bit of time to change some colors around on the Dharmachakra from Wikipedia using Photoshop.
I hope you like it. The central colors represent the Three Jewels (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha), and the yellow-green polarity on the spokes of the wheel are mostly just for my own aesthetic tastes. I suppose you could find a symbolism with the two colors but that wasn't my original goal. :)
I love the idea of having the artist free to do with my idea as they please. add as much of your personal style as you like. Thanks!
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies ๐
It really does, I swear!

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
There are many different approaches to kasina meditation. Here's one simple and very effective method for beginners:
The retinal afterimage is an optical illusion that appears after either looking at something very bright briefly, or gazing at something for a long time and then closing the eyes. The most common is after a camera flash, you see a spot of light for a while.
I recommend before reading any further, than you try this right now. It should take only 2-4 minutes, and is quite interesting.
You can use this image (use this version instead on a phone) on the very screen you are looking at now.
Download the image and make it full screen. Then look at the center point for 1-2 minutes.
Close your eyes and look for the afterimage. In this case, the afterimage will appear as the inverse of the image, so it will appear as white lines on a black background, like this.
Try this now before reading further.
Ok, so what did you notice? Were you able to keep looking at the center point for 1-2 minutes? If so, perhaps parts of the image were blurry and others were in focus.
Maybe you noticed your eyes aren't 100% still, but move around slightly, and after a while this created almost a 3D drop shadow effect.
When you closed your eyes, did you see an afterimage? Not everyone does on the first try and that's OK. If you didn't see an afterimage, you might try this: after closing your eyes, immediately shine a bright light onto your closed eyelids for a few seconds. That could be a flashlight, a lamp, or natural light from outside. This tends to make the afterimage "pop" into awareness. Then you can remove the bright light and try to keep looking at the afterimage.
If you did see an afterimage, what did you notice about it? Perhaps it appeared fully, or only partially. Perhaps it faded in and out, or even completely went away and then came back. Perhaps parts were blurry and other parts vivid. Perhaps you got super absorbed in it for a few seconds, and then felt less interested or even sleepy. Or perhaps you cou
